SAP SCM - Module 10 - Interactive Planning
SAP SCM - Module 10 - Interactive Planning
Table of Contents
Purpose
Orders, such as sales orders, purchase orders, stock transport orders, and refunds, can be
assigned to vehicle resources through interactive planning. Manually or through the optimizer,
you can assign the orders to the resources. You as a result get shipments that were planned,
which you can then continue processing.
The planning view of interactive planning is where you carry out all of these tasks.
Prerequisites
Orders were generated in SAP R/3 and sent to SAP APO via the SAP APO Core Interface.
Use
You utilize interactive planning to address planning issues including shortages, order delays,
and resource overloads. You also carry out standard interactive planning tasks like the ones
listed below.
Developing purchase proposals for manually planned products, such as those for which you
have established standard planning methods 1 or 2
Sequencing of resources
Campaign definition
You must frequently assess the planning environment in order to address fresh planning issues
and complete interactive planning duties because planning is a dynamic activity. A variety of
technologies are available for interactive planning that offer various perspectives of the planning
scenario.

Additionally, you can distinguish between the tools you can use for interactive planning based on
the user interface technologies they employ, as shown below:
● Applications that your SAP system lets you access through its graphical user interface
client, SAP GUI.
● The product view, order processing view, receipts view, and requirements view are some of
these applications.
● Web-based programs that you can use in your web browser or the SAP NetWeaver
Business Client (SAP NWBC).
● You can access Enhanced Product Planning via a Web application from the SAP NWBC. It
is a tool that you, as a production planner, may use to do all of your daily tasks in a single
application and that can be readily customized.

● You can create a related receipt if a product is out of stock (for manually designed
products, for instance).
● You can alter the date and time of the receipt if a requirement isn't met because the
availability date/time of an existing receipt is later than the requirement's date/time.

● If you want to execute planning for a product, for example, after you have manually created
or changed orders, call up the product heuristic.
● You can fix the order to stop the system from modifying a receipt during automatic
planning.
● You can fix the pegging relationships if you do not want the system to change the
assignment of a receipt element to a requirements element.
● You can use the comprehensive scheduling planning board to adjust the order of orders or
how resources are allocated. You can move orders and activities to various dates or
resources, or you can optimize the resource plans, via the detailed scheduling planning
board.
Process Flow
● Choose < Transportation Planning/Vehicle Scheduling < Planning < Interactive Vehicle
Scheduling . in the SAP APO menu (transaction /SAPAPO/VS01). The Vehicle Scheduling
– Selection screen appears.
● When choosing an optimization profile, consult the input help. You provide the orders that
the system should take into account when planning in the optimization profile. In the
optimization profile, you may also set the optimizer runtime and choose a planning horizon,
order categories, locations, and other options.
➢ Without changing the optimization profile itself, you can quickly make adjustments by
editing specific profiles on this screen. You can go directly to the chosen optimization
profile by selecting Optimization profile if you wish to make changes to it.
➢ Utilizing resource selection may be advantageous when there are numerous resources or
locations available. You can choose one or more orders or shipments in the same manner.
Selecting orders is only necessary to view already-planned shipments. The orders cannot
be planned.
Process Flow cont..
➢ Select Execute. After that, you are in interactive planning's planning view.
Result
Once planning is complete, you can execute the next steps within the transportation planning
Use
The work scope of the product planning table is displayed in the navigation tree in the top left
corner of the screen. The objects you want to appear in each view are specified using this
navigation tree. The navigation tree can be organized into many categories. You can show or
conceal objects as appropriate, and it provides information on BOMs and notifications for the
products. The color coding of the product rows allows you to see whether objects are displayed
or hidden in the charts.
If you want to view the charts in full-screen mode, you can toggle the navigation tree on or off.

Features
The navigation tree displays the objects you selected in the initial screen of the product planning
table. In the navigation tree, the following sort and display functions are available:
● Switching on / off the navigation tree
● Grouping objects according to the following categories:
Product
Location
Planner
Resource
Destination (location or resource )
Source (location or resource )

● Displaying warnings (alerts for the number of days' supply, date, and quantity)
Procedure
Displaying Alerts in the Navigation Tree:
Days' supply warnings, date/time alerts, quantity alerts, characteristic alerts, and network alerts
can all be seen on the screen.
You have kept up with the profile for the alert monitor so that the alerts and their priority levels
are shown in the navigation tree. Monitor PP/DS Alerts as well.
The profile of the alert monitor determines the kind of days' supply that is shown. Depending on
the priority level, one of the following icons appears when an alert occurs: (mistake), (warning)
(information).
You can choose which objects are shown in the navigation tree based on alert types and
exclude the display of specific priority levels by using Filter and Change Filter.
Unset the Display Elements Without Alerts indicator in the filter settings if you only want to see
objects with alerts.
To reactivate an existing filter, choose Filter and Activate Filter.
Displaying the BOM for the Products
● Expand the object whose BOM you wish to see in the navigation tree.
● If orders also exist for the components needed for the assembly of the finished product,
● The BOM is displayed for all items, not only those from the chosen facility. It is valid for all
products.
Displaying the Where-Used List for Components
● If orders for the goods for which these components are needed already exist, you can
display the where-used list for components by expanding the navigation tree.
● Orders for the finished goods must also exist if the components are needed for other
● The where-used list includes information about the product's usage at distribution centers
● A resource, a line, or a product can be set to processed once the planning phase is
complete. Select a line and choose the tick mark Processed.
● The navigation tree now has the new folder Processed. This folder can be expanded to
reveal the processed object.
● By selecting the In Worklist icon, processed objects can be added back to the worklist.
● You can choose whether the indicator can be reset just manually or if it should be reset
automatically upon logoff or the start of a new day under Settings Processing Indicator. The
option can be changed independently for resources and products.
● You can add processed or unprocessed products as a selection criterion when using the
product planning table. To do this, fill up the Extended Selection section with the selection
criterion Products/Resources, Unprocessed or Processed.
Planning Using the Product Planning Table
Purpose
This method explains how to use the product planning table for interactive planning to resolve
date and sequence planning issues while taking into account available resources.
Prerequisites
The product planning table is provided by SAP with the default parameters. Make the necessary
adjustments in Customizing for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling, which can be
viewed and adjusted in the application under user settings, if you want to tailor the product
planning table to your own unique planning requirements. See Configuration and Profiles in the
implementation guide (IMG) for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling for more details.
You must keep an integration model up to date in order to enable integration with R/3.
For planning, you have either kept up with the PPM or the iPPE.
Planning Using the Product Planning Table cont..
Process
Direct Access:
1. From the SAP Easy Access my SAP Supply Chain Management screen, choose <
Advanced Planning and Optimization < Production Planning < Interactive Production
Planning < Product Planning Table.
2. Choose the resources and items that will be planned on the first screen.
3. Analyze the current state of the planning.
4. You can manually alter the projected numbers for production or outside purchasing, or you
can start automatic planning runs.
5. When the planning result is saved, the changed data is automatically sent if there is a link
to the R/3 system. You can plan and backflush other components in the R/3 system. The
R/3 system transfers back to APO the planning outcomes and stock changes.
6. Check the product planning table again for the modified planning condition.
