OBJECTIVE: To draw the graph of sin x, using the graph of sin x and demonstrate the concept ofmirror

reflection (about the line y = x)

BASIC KNOWLEDGE S7
SA
1. Knowledge of trigonometric function and their domain and range.
2. Knowledge of inverse trigonometric function and their domain and range. C
MATERIALS REQUIRED
Hard board, drawing sheet, coloured pencil, thumb pin and thread.
PROCEDURE
N
1. Cut a drawing sheet and put it on hard board.
2. Draw two perpendicular lines on it, showing two perpendicular axis.
3. Mark the point on X and Y axis as shown in Fig. 5.

4. For sketching the graph ofy= sin x, mark the points (0, 0),
using thumb pin in I qudrant.

6. Join the thumb pins with the help ofstring on both sides ofr-axis, we will get a curve oty

7. Draw the graph of theliney=rbytaking points (1, 1), (2, 2), (-1,- 1). (-2,-2) etc. using
pins and string.
8. Points marked on the graph ofy = sin x by P,, P, P, P» O, P, Po Pp Ps

9. From the thumb pins P,, P,, P, P, draw perpendicular
that length of perpendicular
on the line y =x and produce these nncs Su
on both sides of the line v =
x are equal. At these points fix thumo pns
and mark them Q,, Q, Q,. Q,
10. Repeat the same on the other side ofx-axis and fix the thumb pins and mark them
Q, Q, Q, and Q,
11. Join the thumb pins on both sides of line y x by =
tight string which show the graph ofy sm =

OBSERVATIONSS: When we put a mirror on the line y =x, image ofy sin x in the mirror shows the grapln
=

afy = sin'x which shows that sin' x is the mirror reflection of sin x.
RESULT: Ify=x behave as mirror then graph of sin'x is the mirror reflection of graph of s1n x.
