CHAPTER I

Introduction

Printing press is known to be one of the most important discoveries of our time.

According to an article, printing press certainly initiated an "information revolution" . It

drastically changed the way society evolved. Printed texts became a new way to spread

information increased the discussion and development of new ideas. Before the invention

of printing press writings and drawings must be done by hand, most probably if printing

press wasn’t invented we would not have books magazines or news papers. The printing

press made possible the mass production of printed books and other texts, to be produced

quickly, accurately and less expensive.

From the very first printing press operated by hand today’s printing press are

electronic and automated. And if the printing press before are applicable only for paper

printing today there are multiple types of printing presses, each best for a specific type of

printing. They include letterpress, offset press and digital press.

Although there are different types of printing press available there are areas where

in the supply of printing services is not enough to meet the demand of the consumers. It

is because there are very few or worst case no establishments offering different kind of

printing services in that area. Some entrepreneurs are afraid to venture in this kind of

business because it is capital intensive. But proper monitoring of the operation and

appropriate promotional techniques can make the business a successful one. Aside from

the success of business, the demand for printing services are being supplied.
