I. Learning The learners should be able to:


Competencies determine the different type of habitats, explain terrestrial,
aquatic, amphibious, arboreal, and aerial animals.

Given varied activities, the Grade 5 learners, with 80%


accuracy should be able to:
II. Objectives a. Classify the types of animals according to its habitats.
b. Draw an animal based on their way of living.
c. Create the process on how they breath and eat.

Lesson:
 Kingdom Animalia: Classifying Animals

Topic:
 Animal Life

Concepts:
Nomenclature as per their Habitats:
 Terrestrial animals- animals that live on land
 Aquatic animals- animals that live on water
III. Subject  Amphibious animals- animals that live on both land
Matter and in water
 Arboreal animals- animals that live on trees
 Aerial animals- animals that can fly
Life process in animals:
a) Breathing:
 Lungs (birds, reptiles, mammals), gills (fish,
tadpoles, and other aquatic animals), spiracles
(insect with small holes), skin (earthworm, frog),
blowholes (whales, dolphins)
b) Eating:
 Carnivores (lion, tiger and cat), Herbivores
(cow, goat and giraffe), Rodents (squirrel, rabbit
and mouse), Omnivores (bear, crow and
human), Carnivores birds (eagle, kite and owl)
c) Movement
 Animals have different types of body parts or
limbs for movements and different ways of
moving from one place to another.
d) Migration
 The mass movement of animals from one place
to another at certain times of the year.
Adaptation in animals:
 Adaptation are any behavioral or physical
characteristics of an animal that help it to survive
in its environment.

1. Engage “Complete Me”


(10 mins.)
1. The learners will give a short review about the last topic
through the activity called “Complete Me”
2. A question will be rise by the teacher and the student
should complete the image that been describe.
Question to be asked:
1. An animal that lived in water and used their skin to
breath.
Answer: frog
2. This is an arboreal animal that breath through their
lungs.
Answer: monkey

“Draw My Place”
1. A learner will have an activity called “draw my place”.
2. The learners will be group into four members each.
3. They will be presented with an animal picture and
drawing materials.
4. Once they completely finish their activity without lapses
the learners will receive a price.

1. What is the activity all about?
2. Observe the place you’ve drawn, how they are related
to our topic?

2.Explore “classifying animals”


(20 mins.) 1. The learners will be given all the pictures of animals
that can be found in land and water.
2. They will be group into 4.
3. Each group have the same pictures.
4. After classifying they will discuss it in front of the class.
5. They will be given 5 minutes every group.
Materials and Equipment:
 Pictures
 Markers
 Manila Paper/Cartolina
 Tape/Glue
Procedure
1. Prepare all the materials will be needed.
2. Place the picture on the manila paper with the used of
glue/tape.
3. Write a little definition in every picture.
4. Make sure it is will coordinated to each other.
Guide Questions:
1. What is the activity all about?
Answer: The activity is all about classifying animals.
2. What is demonstrated in your manila paper?
Answer: The pictures of different animals are
demonstrated in our manila paper.
3. In the activity, how can you easily identify the animals
and its habitat?
Answer: By knowing their skills and way of living, we
can determine where they basically lived.

3.Explore The learners will be presented with a picture of the animals


(15 minutes) and its habitats.

Answer: The picture is all about the animal habitats
What are the different kinds of habitats?
Answer: The desert habitat, underground habitat, forest
habitat and water habitat.
What are the animals belong to the water habitat?
Answer: the animals that belong to the water habitat are:
fish, whale, shark, frog, and reptiles.
What habitats does monkey and chimpanzee belong?
Answer: monkey and chimpanzee are animal that belong to
the forest habitats
What animals belong to the underground habitat?
Answer: earthworm is the animals that belong to the
underground habitat.
4. Elaborate “filling up the graphic organizers”
(8 minutes)
1. The learners will be presented a graphic organizer with
the use of manila paper.
2. They will be given a marker and write the missing word
to complete the definition of a habitat and answer what
kind of habitat.
