Meaning: right to lawfully retain another’s goods till lawful charges are satisfied
Kinds of lien: General lien and Particular lien
General Lien: sec 171
• Bankers, Factors, Wharfingers, Attorneys, Policy-brokers
• Retain goods for repayment of any prior debts also
