University Progression
UNIVERSITY OF NORTHAMPTON CREATIVE SUMMER SHOWCASE
All events are free to attend and are open to bookings from all post-16 students.
CITY, UNIVERSITY OF LONDON - JUNE OPEN DAY 2024 & TASTER SESSIONS
University Open Days provide students with a valuable opportunity to explore universities, learn
about courses and visit important facilities. This year, City, University of London is hosting its
Summer Open Day on Saturday June 29 2024. Prospective students can participate in course-
specific talks, engage with academics, current students, and student services staff, and take guided
campus tours. Students can register via this events page.
In finance and business, a number of decisions require forecasts about the future- but how can we
obtain reliable forecasts? Presented by Dr Marchese, Bayes Business School and International
Institute of Forecasters, students who are registered with Unifrog can join this online session to
learn about the power of machine learning and data science in business and finance decisions.
Students can also learn more about what to expect at Bayes Business School in the Business

ENHANCED FINANCE PACKAGE: BRIGHTON BOOST
Going to university is a great investment, but we know the cost can be a worry. University of
Brighton would like to make sure that as many students as possible benefit from the
opportunities that studying at university can provide – regardless of their background.
That's why Brighton Boost has been launched- funding, support and services, alongside our
new contextual admissions policy, that will help give you the best possible start.
The Boost can help with study, accommodation or travel costs if students accept our offer
and start their course in 2024. Eligibility depends on your circumstances.
Brighton Boost package
• Students applying for halls could be eligible for a £1,250 discount on the cost of their
accommodation.
• Students not in halls who are commuting to study each day can qualify for up to
£500 towards travel costs. This is in addition to the great student discounts offered
by local train and bus companies.
• Students who don't have access to a suitable PC at home can reduce costs by
taking advantage of the free technology loan scheme.
• Brighton student employment agency gives access to hundreds of job opportunities
across the university and beyond.

BRUNEL UNIVERSITY NURSING TASTER DAY - 5 JUNE
Places are still available for the last Taster Day of this academic year, which is open to
groups and individual students. On this day, you can hear from academics about studying
nursing at Brunel, meet current students, and visit facilities. Book here.
Undergraduate Open Day, Saturday 29 June
The next on-campus open day is Saturday, 29 June 2024, 9.30am - 3pm.
This Undergraduate open day is a fantastic opportunity to discover Brunel. Students and
their families can explore all aspects of university life, talk to staff and students, and
discover what Brunel offers. Book your place

the Unibuddy platform. This is a great way to find out what life is like at Queen Mary
University and gain first-hand knowledge of the subject area(s) you are interested in.

DIGITAL ARTS SUMMER SCHOOL 2024, SPONSORED BY COGNIZANT AT THE
UNIVERSITY OF WESTMINSTER
The Cognizant Digital Arts Summer School 2024 has expanded, to now include Year 12 (or Year 1,
Level 3) learners so that this opportunity can reach the largest audience possible. Taking place at
the University of Westminster, this summer, the Cognizant Digital Arts Summer School is a brilliant
opportunity to enable students to collaborate across year groups and take part in creative and digital
workshops, taught by professionals in state of the art facilities.

Experience Opportunities
Do you want to secure top-rated apprenticeships? The Talent Foundry is offering Year 12/first year
college students a fully-funded pre-apprenticeship programme which will give you a valuable head
start in the apprenticeship application process with M&G plc.
The Bridge to M&G programme helps you secure Level 3-4 apprenticeships with M&G plc, a global
financial services company and ranked among the UK’s Best 100 Apprenticeship Employers.
The programme shows students the numerous opportunities available at M&G plc, including
apprenticeships in risk, client relations, real estate, investment and more! Students will receive
support for every step of the application process with bespoke training and coaching. You will build
the skills and confidence you need to secure your first apprenticeship and progress in your career.

- Available to students in Year 12/first year of college only
- A series of in-person and virtual workshops
- Visits to the M&G plc London office and learn directly from current employees and
apprentices
- One-to-one coaching sessions to ace the application and interview process
- Sessions begin summer term 2024

BRITISH LIBRARY TRAINING PLACEMENTS
This is an opportunity to develop skills in librarianship, hosting events, engaging with audiences,
supporting projects and many more exciting tasks.
Creative Access is looking for interest over experience; no related experience is required for this
placement. They are particularly keen for people who would also be interested in applying for
apprenticeships at the British Library, following this 5-week programme – so ideal for school-
leavers!
• Learn from the experienced Library staff and gain experience during placement
• Learn what the library and creative sector is and how The British Library fits into it through industry
visits
• Learn about roles and career pathways in the library and creative sector through tours and career
talks
• Develop your CV, application and interview skills through CV and interview workshops

STUDENT SHINY AWARDS – CALL FOR ENTRY
Shiny Awards’ goal is to get more under-represented directors into advertising production and the
biggest single problem in education is access to networks. Shiny Awards are dedicated to being a
solution to this problem for film students & graduates wanting to connect with the commercial
production industry.
You can use Shiny to launch a career in commercial production, and enter the first ever STUDENT
ONLY Shiny Awards coming up this summer. There are great prizes up for grabs, such as meetings
with leading brand & music video commissioners, reps & production companies for all shortlisted
directors. Shortlisted entries are also promoted to industry contacts in the ‘New Directors’ list.
Entry for students is FREE. Films must be under 5 mins runtime, but can be any genre at all, from
mini-docs to spec ads to music videos and animations.

AllianceBernstein, a leading global investment management firm, is offering a one-year paid trainee
programme in their Investment Management Operations team in London. The programme pays £25,000 per
year and provides opportunities for networking, training, and potentially earning a professional qualification.

Responsibilities: Confirmation and settlement of equity, fixed income, and derivative trades, assisting with
projects and initiatives, monitoring broker performance, and more.
Requirements: Recent A-level/BTEC graduates, team player, inquisitive, excellent organisational skills, self-
starter, good communication skills.
Application process: Submit CV, personal statement, and answer three questions (250-300 words each).
Schroders is offering a 2-year Client Group Apprenticeship programme for recent school/college leavers with
A-levels or BTECs.
This Level 4 Apprenticeship provides an opportunity to earn while learning about Schroders' sales teams and
working towards a professional qualification.
Apprentices will be part of the Sales teams within the Client Group department, gaining hands-on experience
and understanding how the teams operate.
The role involves data governance, reporting, documentation, and project work across the team.
Desired qualities include ambition, enthusiasm, teamwork, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and
customer service experience.
The recruitment process involves an online application, assessments, video interview, and assessment centre.

BBC ‘GET IN’ TASTER EXPERIENCES
If you’re weighing up what’s the next right step for you – it could be an apprenticeship, maybe you’re thinking
about university, or perhaps you want to dive straight into your first ‘proper job’, 'Get In' Taster Experiences
offer you the chance to see if the BBC could be where you’d like to work in the future by exploring the different
early careers paths the BBC has to offer.
‘Get In’ Taster Days are a great way to find out more about life at the BBC and the opportunities they have on
offer. They’ll give you first-hand experience of your local BBC base and the kind of work you might be doing
there if you apply for one of their apprenticeships. If you’re not sure that the BBC is the right place for you, let
us try to change your mind! Especially if you’re not the sort of person that would usually apply for something
like this.
Many of the sessions are for students aged 16-18, but they will also have Taster Days for over 18s, career
changers and school groups. Please select this link to our expression of interest form to register your interest
for the BBC location that is nearest to you or most easily reached. Please note, although they’ll make every
effort to visit a base near you, they cannot guarantee that a 'Get In' Taster Day will be held at every site.

From Monday 8th July to Friday 12th July, join IGD every single day between 10.30am - 12pm for a daily dose
of fast-paced interactive sessions developing key skills with the help of Industry Experts from companies like
Mondelez, Pepsico and Tesco to name a few.
Each day of the week they will deliver a 1.5 hour virtual webinar delving into different themes as listed below.
They will be joined by experts from each field showcasing industry innovations, sharing employability tips and
tricks to stand out - and you'll receive a certificate as evidence for your CV. The webinars are open to all
students in Years 12-13.
Virtual Work Experience week is a set of live, interactive and engaging online sessions. Throughout the week
you'll meet experts, gain skills and get a certificate as evidence of your participation for your CV.

WORLD OCEAN DAY!! 8TH JUNE 2024
World Ocean Day is an international celebration of our amazing blue planet, and we want as many young
people to get involved as possible! This is the Marine Conservation Society fourth #VoicefortheOcean event in
the last year, with the previous being in Bristol, Edinburgh & Bangor.The Youth Ocean Network are helping run
the event on the day and will be around to chat all about getting involved in helping our planet as a young
person today.
There is also the chance to get involved in a cool, inclusive art project on the day…. (!) as well as learn more
about our work, conservation, the environment, volunteering opportunities and careers.
The event is free, but spaces are limited. It is aimed at 13 to 25 year olds, but all welcome.
