Back The Back icon goes back one level
in the task hierarchy.

Cancel The Cancel icon stops the current


processing step.

Enter The Enter icon tells the system to

the current task or application area.

Field Search The Field Search icon allows you to


find listings or specific data based
on the criteria of the field.

Find The Find icon allows you to search


for specific information.

First Page The First Page icon allows you to


scroll to the first screen page.

Help The Help icon allows you to access


various forms of online
documentation.

Information The Information icon allows you to


display information related to the
field where you see the icon.

Last Page The Last Page icon allows you to


scroll to the last screen page.

New Session The New Session icon allows you


to begin a new series of
transactions.

Exercise 5: Establish User Parameters

Instructions 1. Access the Maintain User Profile screen from the menu bar.

Path: System > User Profile > Own Data


Screen Maintain User Profile displays.

2. Click the Defaults tab.

3. Select the desired decimal notation and date format by clicking on


them.

4. Click the Parameters tab.

5. Establish the parameter(s).

Controlling area 1. Enter “CAC” in the Parameters column.


2. Enter the controlling area in the Value column.
3. Press Enter.
4. Verify that “Controlling area” displays in the Text column.

Company Code 1. Enter “BUK” in the Parameters column.


2. Enter the company code in the Value column.
3. Press Enter.
4. Verify that “Company code” displays in the Text column.

Project System 1. Enter “PFL” in the Parameters column.


Information System 2. Enter the information system profile in the Value column.
Profile
3. Press Enter.
4. Verify that “Project information system profile” displays in the Text
column.

Database profile 1. Enter “PDB” in the Parameters column.


2. Enter the database profile in the Value column.
3. Press Enter.
4. Verify that “Profile for logical database PSJ” displays in the Text
column.

Project profile 1. Enter “PWS” in the Parameters column.


2. Enter the project profile in the Value column.
3. Press Enter.
4. Verify that “Project profile” displays in the Text column.

6. Click the Save icon

Instructions 1. Access the Settings dialog box from the menu bar.

Exercise 7: Add/Remove Transactions to the Favourites Folder

Instructions 1. Do you need to add or remove a transaction to/from your


Favourites folder?

Exercise 10: Transfer Information Between Sessions

SAP Release • Used to denote the version of SAP R/3 software


ƒ Example: ECC 6.0

Instance • Environment containing Clients which serve a specific function (e.g.


Production, Testing, Training, etc.)

ƒ Example: ‘RP1’ which is the instance for Production or ‘Release


2–Training–RC2’ which has been used for Testing and Training

SAPGUI • Application used to start the front-end of an SAP R/3 Instance


(Graphical User ƒ Example: SAPGUI 6.20 for Windows
Interface)

Client • Self-contained unit in an R/3 system that resides within an Instance


• Has separate master records and its own set of tables
ƒ Example: ‘900’, the client used for Production or 705, 710, and
720 which have been used for training delivery

SAP Thick Client • Term used to specify the end-user using the SAP R/3 system via the
graphical user interface (SAPGUI for Windows)
ƒ Example: Most Enterprise personnel use the thick client of SAP
R/3

SAP Thin Client • Term used to specify the end-user using the SAP R/3 system via a web
browser (e.g. Windows Internet Explorer)
ƒ Example: Generally, Line Executives use the thin client of SAP
R/3

SAP IMG ƒ A project IMG is the implementation guide for a Customizing project.
ƒ It contains all the Customizing activities which are to be performed in
the project.
o Example: You can determine the project scope by countries,
components or Customizing activities. A project IMG is based
on the SAP Reference IMG, which can be reduced to the
project scope by selecting countries and components.
