    Debate Transcript

    Motion: Television is bad

    Lutfi : Television contains entertainment which is distractive to young people.


    Kita students must study mathematic, science, language and lot of subjects
    so become successful in future. Drama TV only makes us lazy and stupid,
    it is waste of time. There's Indonesian proverb, "Apa yang kamu tanam,
    itulah yang kamu tuai". So if you want to be smart and successful, you
    must study a lot.

    Aziz : We don't watch only Drama TV in television, there's; News like CNN,
    Kabar TVOne, Liputan 6 Siang, Liputan 6 Petang Terkini, Kompas, and
    many others, Education program like Khalifah in Trans 7, si Unvil, Bocah
    Petualang and many others. Those kinds of movies will give a lot of
    information and teach young people.

    Ardiansyah : Islamic Preacher also there ed est; Mama Dedeh, Ceramah Subuh, 7
    Kunci Rezeki, Shalawat Nabi and many others, so we can be religious and
    close to the gods.

    Yusril : Yes, you can know a lot of information from television. But that’s not
    important for us at this time. Students high school must learn subject in
    school, where can we use that knowledge in our lives? Instead, you can
    open youtube and search for homework and exercise, it helps us to gain
    more scores in school.

    Alfian : I think you generalize everyone’s lives. You can search what you can not
    find in television in Youtube,like mathematic so it helps you to solve
    homework and get good grade. But for many people, in television they can
    learn how to make money, how to garden, how to make toys, how to be
    good people and many others.

    Wahyu : You can’t be like that, we young people have so much potential to grow.
    If we don’t use it wisely we will fail in the future. We must be ready to
    challenge the modern world. Different case for the adults, those people
    have already found their lives and their jobs.
    Device vs Television

    Deni : Generally, device is better, you can’t bring tv anywhere, not connecting
    people through different regions, and limited type of channels. Unless
    your house has smart tv where you can operate it like laptop. But more
    than 70% of our people in Narmada are mid lower economical status, so
    this motion is not debatable.

    Syahabuddin : Even though we’re not rich, almost everyone has mobile phone in their
    pocket and television at their house. Device like laptop or handphone is
    prone to get hacked by virus. If you install application from third party
    developer, or cracked application, instead of buying the application, it will
    broke your laptop or handphone, making it slower and sluggish. Also the
    same with downloaded movie, songs or electronic books. But with
    television, it helps you to organize your life. You don’t need to push more
    jobs into your phone.

    Culture in Society,

    Dede : We need educating society on how dangerous it affecting our lives. It’s
    undeniable separating and managing the television usages in our society’s
    life is a life-time hardwork but the result is a life changing for our society.

    Isma Yanti : How many kid-friendly program in television to help a parent to raise
    their children, ed est; Doraemon adventures, Dora the Explorer, Blue’s
    Clue and many more.
