TYPES OF STYLES

In OpenOffice Writer, there are several

types of styles you can use to format your
documents. These include:

1. *Paragraph Styles*: Define the

formatting for paragraphs, including
alignment, spacing, and borders.
2. *Character Styles*: Apply to
individual characters or words,
affecting font type, size, color, and
effects.
3. *Frame Styles*: Used for
formatting text frames, graphics, and
other objects.
4. *Page Styles*: Define the layout of
a page, including margins, headers,
footers, and columns.
5. *List Styles*: Control the
appearance of lists, including bullet
and numbering formats.
To create a new style from a
selection in OpenOffice Writer,
follow these steps:
1. *Select the text*: Highlight the text or object that has the
formatting you want to save as a style.

2. *Open the Styles and Formatting window*:

– Press `F11` or select `Format` > `Styles and
Formatting` from the menu bar.
3. *Choose the style category*: In the Styles and
Formatting window, click the appropriate icon at the top to
select the style category (Paragraph, Character, Frame,
Page, or List).

4. *Create a new style*:

- Click on the drop-down menu in the Styles and
Formatting window and select `New Style from Selection`.
- Alternatively, you can right-click on the style category
window and choose `New Style from Selection`.
5. *Name the new style*:
– In the dialog that appears, enter a name for your new
style.

- Click `OK` to save the new style.

6. *Apply the new style*: You can now apply this new
style to other parts of your document by selecting the
text or object and then clicking on the style name in the
