- These challenges impact the industry's operations and the stakeholders, such as increasing operational costs, regulatory pressure,
and brand reputation. The operational costs of technological companies increase because they have to go for more sustainable
options and options that can lessen the negative effect on the environment. Another impact on them is the regulatory pressure.
This is because as technological industries grow, the regulations will be tighter due to the effect of their growth on the
environment. This will also cost the companies to comply with these regulations and cause them to lose efficiency or resources.
The last one is the brand reputation; their reputation is affected by their actions, especially by their decisions on what method to
use for their operations, whether it is environmentally friendly, which makes a better image for their company, or a non-
environmental friendly approach, which can damage their reputation.

- Some of the most common ethical dilemmas are data breaches, consumer privacy and security, and e-waste management. Data
breach is a violation that occurs when sensitive details are stolen and can be accessed by an unauthorized party without the
owner's knowledge. It can be done accidentally or intentionally. This is one of the ordinary and most pressing ethical dilemmas in
the technology industry since it is dealing with users' personal information and on how they will use it. Another one is consumer
privacy and security; the challenge is finding a balance between privacy and security. Cybersecurity experts frequently need to
gather, examine, and keep much personal data to protect data from cyberattacks. As a result, ethical dilemmas arise between the
need to protect sensitive data and the obligation to respect individuals' right to privacy. Furthermore, ethical dilemmas may also
arise in e-waste management due to its complicated materials and components; electronic gadget disposal and recycling present
considerable obstacles. The ethical dilemma is finding out how to handle and recycle e-waste efficiently while minimizing its
negative environmental impact.

cotton, more expensive electricity, and less availability to labor. However, amidst the growing environmental impacts found in the
retail industry, retailers have been venturing out on ethical practices that contribute to the industry’s growth and sustainability.

issues within education. Addressing these concerns is crucial for institutions and society.

3. ENVIRONMENTAL

Energy consumption in buildings: High usage due to utilities, facilities, and teaching equipment. Excessive paper, plastics, water
usage: Educators, learners, and personnel contribute to overproduction and waste.

Harmful impacts of paper production: Destruction of forests, excessive energy and water consumption, air pollution, waste
generation. Paper constitutes 26% of landfill waste (The World Count, 2023).

Inadequate food disposal: Improper food waste disposal worsens environmental issues. Food waste comprises a significant
portion of school waste (Apolonio, 2019).

Implications for the environment: Education industry's actions harm both nature and humans.

Specific environmental concerns in education industry: Energy consumption, paper usage, food waste, general waste
management, and water management.

5. ETHICAL

 In the Education Industry, one of the ethical issues arising in our industry is due in part to COVID-19. One of the
problems facing the education sector is the growth and addition of new difficulties that have deteriorated the nation's
existing situation.
 Also, the learning load is one of the blended learning's main drawbacks. Some teachers may over deliver the
information and instructional activities since they are unfamiliar with the mixed approach. When given in accordance
with each student's specific needs, it may be advantageous but difficult when given in large quantities.
 Makes sure that transparency and honesty can be observed in the service industry, creating more memorable, truthful,
and satisfied interactions with customers.
 Observing good ethical conduct will help stop the formation of unethical activities. Businesses and institutions in the
education industry follow and uphold a higher standard of ethical conduct since they are tasked by society to provide an
ethical, safe, inclusive, and learning environment for the betterment of the children, and the future citizens of the
country.

7. Strategies

 Department’s School Building Program- the Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF), which pays for the upkeep and
enhancement of educational facilities, provides funding for the program for the department's educational facility. It will
be used to build schools, create workshops, replace decaying buildings, buy furniture, fix up, and rebuild classrooms, as
well as to provide electricity, water, and sanitary amenities.
 Computerization Program— this initiative aims to improve educational quality by providing public schools with the right
tools to improve the teaching-learning process and meet the difficulties posed by 21st-century technology. Additionally,
all public elementary, junior high, and senior high schools, including those that are not yet electrified, will receive New
E-Classroom packages through the program.

 HRTD for Organizational and Professional Development for Non-School Personnel (OPDNSP)- this program makes
efforts and takes actions that support organizational and work environment efficiency in the areas of performance
improvement, quality management, governance, structure, systems, processes, resource management, and
organizational culture. Through treatments and activities that build capacity, individual competencies and values are
built. The primary focus was on non-teaching functional competencies and core managerial leadership. Additionally, it
acknowledges the use of coaching and mentoring as well as structured and informal educational sessions as well as
other learning methodologies.

9. Ethics should always be practiced in the service industry, including the education industry.

It serves as a strong foundation for the industry. Can have a ± effect on the growth of a business and/or industry.

Helps businesses and industries in solving and handling issues and unfavorable business effects and consequences.

The education industry is constantly plagued by different environmental issues/concerns, and it also sometimes contribute to
these concerns.

The quality of the service provided by the education industry worsens due to these concerns.

With continuous environmental concerns and issues and the current state of the environment, the education industry will
continue to be negatively impacted in the future unless action is done towards the environment's life.
