FRICK RWB II PLUS COMPRESSOR

Equipment that supplies spiral tunnels #1 and 2, drying tunnel and

chamber #4. It consists of the following major subsystems:

DEFINITIONS

Microprocessor control panel: The compressor is controlled by a

microprocessor control system. It continually monitors the condition and

operation of the compressor. It also directs instructions to several of the

compressor's subsystems. In addition to the keyboard integrated into

the microprocessor, there is an emergency stop button, which cuts off

power to all parts without going through the computer. It should never

be used unless it is a true emergency. The microprocessor allows semi-

automatic control of the compressor. For more information on

microprocessor configurations, read the Frick RWBII manual.

Compressor: The compressor uses asymmetrical profile helical joint

rotors to provide a continuous flow of refrigerant vapor and is designed

for high and low pressure applications.

Compressor lubrication system: Performs various functions:

 Provides lubrication to bearings and seals.

 Provides cushioning between the rotors, minimizing noise and

vibrations.

 Helps keep the compressor cool, preventing overheating.

 Supplies oil to the Slide Valve and Slide Stop.

 Provides oil pressure to balance pistons to increase bearing

life.

 Provides an oil seal between the rotors to prevent contact and

gas passage.

Compressor Hydraulics: The compressor hydraulics move the slide

valve to load and unload the compressor. Also move the Slide Stop to

increase or decrease the compressor ratio.

FRICK RXF COMPRESSOR - 39

Equipment that supplies spiral tunnels #1 and 2, drying tunnel and

chamber #4. It consists of the following major subsystems:

DEFINITIONS
Microprocessor control panel: The compressor is controlled by a

microprocessor control system. It continually monitors the condition and

operation of the compressor. It also directs instructions to several of the

compressor's subsystems. In addition to the keyboard integrated into

the microprocessor, there is an emergency stop button, which cuts off

power to all parts without going through the computer. It should never

be used unless it is a true emergency. The microprocessor allows semi-

automatic control of the compressor. For more information on

microprocessor configurations, read the Frick RXF manual.

Compressor: The compressor uses asymmetrical profile helical joint

rotors to provide a continuous flow of refrigerant vapor and is designed

for high and low pressure applications.

Compressor lubrication system: Performs various functions:

 Lubricates the rotor contact area, letting the male rotor carry

the female in a cushioning film of oil.

 It serves to remove heat from gas compression, keeping

discharge temperatures low and minimizing oil or coolant

failure.

 Fills the gas leak passages between or around the rotors with

oil, greatly reducing gas leaks.

 Provides oil pressure to develop balance load on balance

pistons to reduce bearing load and increase bearing life.

Compressor Hydraulics: The RXF compressor hydraulic system uses

oil pressure from internally drilled passages in the compressor housing

to selectively load and unload the compressor by applying this pressure

to the hydraulic piston of the movable slide valve. It also uses oil

pressure to actuate a hydraulic piston that moves the Slide Stop,

Volumizer II. This allows the compressor ratio to be adjusted while the

compressor is running.
