NAVAL BATTLE GAME

Naval battle is a strategy game involving two players. It is played with pencil and paper, and chance
does not intervene.

Preparation:

Before starting the game, each participant draws two square boards of 10 × 10 squares on graph
paper. The vertical rows are numbered A through J, and the horizontal columns are numbered 1
through 10.
Simply indicate the coordinates of a shot with a letter/number pair (for example, A6 or J9).

The own fleet is placed in the square on the left (an example is shown). In the square on the right, the
shots that the player makes in the opponent's sea will be marked: ships hit, sunk and shots into the
water.

The fleet:

Each player has a complete fleet on his left board, without the opponent seeing its position.
Boats cannot touch each other, meaning every boat must be surrounded by water or touch an edge of
the board.

The fleet is made up of:

1 aircraft carrier (four squares);

2 battleships (three squares);

3 ships (two square ones);

4 submarines (of a small square).

Game mechanics:

The turn passes alternately from one player to another.

On his turn, the player fires a shot at a position in the enemy sea, indicating the corresponding
coordinate (letter and number).
If there are no ships in that square, the other player says: "water."
If the shot has hit a ship it says: "hit."
If with this shot the opponent manages to complete all the positions of the ship, he must say "sunk"

On the example board, a first shot on H9 would be "water";

On the example board, a shot on G5, "hit".
On the example board, a shot on D3, "sunk."

The player who manages to sink all of his opponent's ships wins.
