- REVERB PRE-LPF:
A low pass filter can be applied to the sound coming into the reverb to cut the high frequency
range. Higher values will cut more of the high frequencies, resulting in a more mellow reverberation. (0-7)
- REVERB TIME:
This parameter sets the time over which the reverberation will continue. Higher values result
in longer reverberation.
- REVERB DELAY FEEDBACK:
This parameter is used when the Reverb Character is set to 6 or 7, or the Reverb Type is set to Delay

a denser chorus sound can be created. Higher values result in a greater feedback level ( 0-127 )
- CHORUS DELAY:
This parameter sets the delay time of the chorus effect ( 0-127 )
- CHORUS RATE:
This parameter sets the speed (frequency) at which the chorus sound is modulated. Higher values result in
faster modulation ( 0-127 )

overall delay. ( 0-127 )
- DELAY PRE-LPF:
A low-pass filter can be applied to the sound coming into the delay to cut the high frequency range. Higher values
will cut more of the high frequencies, resulting in a more mellow delay sound. (0-7)
- DELAY TIME CENTER:
The delay effect of the SOUND Canvas for iOS allow you to set three delay times; center, left and right (when
listening in stereo). Delay Time Center sets the delay time of the delay located at the center.
(0.1ms ~ 340ms ~ 1.0s)
- DELAY TIME RATIO LEFT (4%~500%):
This parameter sets the delay time of the delay located at the left as a percentage of the Delay Time Center
(up to a max. of 1.0 s).
- DELAY TIME RATIO RIGHT(4%~500%):
This parameter sets the delay time of the delay located at the right as a percentage of the Delay Time Center
(up to a max. of 1.0 s).

- DELAY LEVEL LEFT:
This parameter sets the volume of the left delay. Higher values result in a louder left delay. ( 0-127 )
- DELAY LEVEL RIGHT:
This parameter sets the volume of the right delay. Higher values result in a louder right delay. ( 0-127 )
- DELAY FEEDBACK:
This parameter affects the number of times the delay will repeat. With a value of 0, the delay will not repeat.
With higher values there will be more repeats. With negative ( - ) values, the center delay will be fed back
with inverted phase. Negative values are effective with short delay times.( -64 ~ +16 ~ +63 )
- DELAY SEND LEVEL TO REVERB:
This parameter sets the amount of delay sound that is sent to the reverb. Higher values result in more sound
being sent ( 0-127 )

Insertion Effect List
SOUND Canvas for iOS has internal insertion effect as below.
[NOTE]
*This software’s user interface cannot switch insertion effect nor change parameter. Use System Exclusive
message designed in conformity to SC-8820 for the operation.
For further information visit Roland web site and refer to the manual of SC-8820.
http://www.roland.com/support/
No effect will be applied. When a GM1 System On, GM2 System On or GS Reset messages is
00: Thru
received, 00 Thru will be selected for Insertion Effect.
Spectrum is a type of filter which modifies the timbre by boosting or cutting the level at specific
02: Spectrum frequencies. It is similar to an equalizer, but has 8 frequency points fixed at locations most suitable
for adding character to the sound.
The Enhancer controls the overtone structure of the high frequencies, adding sparkle and tightness
03: Enhancer
to the sound.
04: Humanizer This adds a vowel character to the sound, making it similar to a human voice.
05: Overdrive This effect creates a soft distortion similar to that produced by tube amplifiers.
06: Distortion This effect produces a more intense distortion than Overdrive.
A phaser adds a phase-shifted sound to the original sound, producing a twisting modulation that
07: Phaser
creates spaciousness and depth.
08: Auto Wah The Auto Wah cyclically controls a filter to create cyclic change in timbre.
The Rotary effect simulates the sound of a classic rotary speakers. Since the movement of the
09: Rotary high range and low range rotors can be set independently, the unique modulation characteristics
of these speakers can be simulated quite reliably. This effect is most suitable for electric organ.
This is a stereo flanger. It produces a metallic resonance that rises and falls like a jet airplane
10: Stereo Flanger
taking off or landing. A filter is provided so that you can adjust the timbre of the flanged sound.
11: Step Flanger The Step Flanger is an effect in which the flanger pitch changes in steps.
12: Tremolo Tremolo cyclically modulates the volume to add tremolo effect to the sound.
13: Auto Pan The Auto Pan effect cyclically modulates the stereo location of the sound.
The Compressor flattens out high levels and boosts low levels, smoothing out unevenness
14: Compressor
in volume.
15: Limiter
Hexa-chorus uses a six-phase chorus (six layers of chorused sound) to give richness and spatial
16: Hexa Chorus
spread to the sound.
17: Tremolo Chorus Tremolo Chorus is a chorus effect with added Tremolo (cyclic modulation of volume).
Space-D is a multiple chorus that applies two-phase modulation in stereo. It gives no impression
19: Space D
of modulation, but produces a transparent chorus effect.
20: 3D Chorus

Effect Name Description
22: Mod Delay This effect adds modulation to the delayed sound, producing an effect similar to a flanger.
23: 3 Tap Delay The Triple Tap Delay produces three delay sounds; center, left and right.
24: 4 Tap Delay The Quadruple Tap Delay has four delays.
25: Tm Ctrl Delay This effect allows you to control the delay time and pitch in real time.
26: Reverb The Reverb effect adds reverberation to the sound, simulating an acoustic space.
This applies a 3D effect to the delay sound. The delay sound will be positioned 90 degrees left
28: 3D Delay
and 90 degrees right.
A Pitch Shifter shifts the pitch of the original sound. This 2-voice pitch shifter has two pitch shifters,
29: 2 Pitch Shifter
and can add two pitch shifted sounds to the original sound.
30: Fb P.Shifter This pitch shifter allows the pitch shifted sound to be returned into the effect.
31: 3D Auto The 3D Auto effect rotates the location of the sound.
33: Lo-Fi 1 Lo-Fi 1 is an effect that intentionally degrades the sound quality.
Lo-Fi 2 is an effect that intentionally degrades the sound quality and allows a variety of noise
34: Lo-Fi 2
to be added.
47: Rotary Multi This connects Overdrive , 3-band equalizer , and Rotary effects in series.
- 48 -
