Topic 1: Health benefits of living in cities/countryside
Some people believe that living in cities can easily access a better healthy
lifestyle. While others think that it is more beneficial for their health to live in rural
areas. From my perspective, I totally agree with this idea that there are numerous
significant advantages when we settle in the countryside.
Firstly and foremost, it is undeniable that living in the country provides a
large amount of fresh air on a daily basis. Unlike cities, rural areas have
significantly lower levels of air pollution from factories and heavy traffic which
can have detrimental effects on our health. Fresh air is essential for maintaining
healthy lungs and reducing the risk of diseases such as asthma and cardiovascular
problems.
Secondly, we will have numerous healthy food for our daily meals. Organic
foods grown on farms are carefully cared without chemical fertilizers and
pesticides by farmers, then they are harvested and sold directly to consumers.
These fresh vegetables and fruits will give us the feeling of security when
purchasing them. Moreover, when we live in the country, it is easy to find green
open space for physical activities including biking, walking and running. We can
either take exercises freely without being bothered by vehicles or engage in
recreational activities in the park and enjoy the natural environment. Hence, it
becomes easier to reduce stress as well as enhance our mental and physical health.
Opponents of this idea argue that the urban life offers greater convenience
for our well-being. They claim that since there are more and better hospitals which
have a lot of modern equipment as well as better medicines and treatments. For
instance, during the Covid-19 pandemic, most individuals receive quickly the
treatment and get easily access various online treatments to be cured on time.
Nevertheless, I believe that we will get the substantial benefits from living in the
countryside.
In conclusion, while living in urban areas offer various advantages for
health. I believe that living in rural areas is better for our health due to the ability
of fresh air, local organic products and open spaces.
Topic 2: Academic qualifications or life experience in employment, which is more
important?
In the modern world, the question of whether university qualification or
practical experience is more crucial is always a controversial topic. Each viewpoint
shows arguments creating various aspects about educational value and life
experience. This essay will give different fields of this problem and I will provide a
balanced and far- reaching view.
Firstly, academic degree is considered as a certificate which prove academic
competence and specialized knowledge. This knowledge is constantly evolving to
meet the demands of the labor market. Thus, it is a vital key for newly graduating
students in order to open the door of job opportunities and high salary levels. In
addition, educational environment also trains for pupil various soft skills such as
communication, critical thinking, teamwork and time-management which make
significant contributions for students’ success in every profession.
On the other hand, life experience brings individuals valuable lessons without
being taught in any books. The first lecture is that it boosts the maturity of young
people and develops themselves in a comprehensive way. They learn how to face
directly the challenges, address issues, adapt to new environment and work
effectively in practical circumstance. As a result, not only can they become
independent and self-reliant but also make wise decisions in any situations.
Moreover, practical experience helps scholars gain deeper insights into humanity
and society around them. The more they expose to, the more they can quickly learn
new things, opportunities and relationships. Therefore, they will have a great
ability to achieve their goals and success that they want to.
In conclusion, in my opinion, instead of comparing two factors, we should
recognize them as a perfect background for everyone’s development. A university
degree provides students with faculty’s knowledge and necessary skills, while life
experience brings the ability to apply that knowledge flexibly and
productively. Both of them play an essential role in shaping career road and
success journey of each individual.
Topic 3: Benefits of International tourism
In recent years, international travel has become more and more popular. It is
not solely a sightseeing trip to explore new places but also to widen one’s horizon
and perspective. It also brings countless benefits to boost individual development
and career.
One of the prominent matters when the number of senior people rises is a
workforce reduction which leads to a decline in productivity, increased labor costs,
and delays in the expansion of enterprises Secondly, the budget of governments
that provide for the retirement fund and medical care also jumps. Moreover, the
growing number of elders will have to face the challenges of accommodation. As
the population of old people grows, the demand for housing goes up and also
increases the price of properties which will be a difficulty for them.
Clearly, actions need to be taken to solve these issues. One thing that would
improve the situation is governments could extend retirement age standards. Many
nations are applying the standard pension age at the age of 55 years old, and they
could extend the age to 60 or 65 as the old people are still in good health condition.
Therefore, it would reduce the government's social welfare budget for retired
citizens. Furthermore, burdens on the healthcare system could be alleviated by
investing numerous healthcare budgets as well as supplementing medical services
in providing care and supporting an old population. Finally, governments could
also provide a subsidy for old people when they have a plan to purchase a house.
To sum up, some issues are created by the increase in average life expectancy
in developing countries. However, this trend can be addressed effectively if
governments work together with the community.
Topic 5: The availability of unhealthy food (problem & solution)
In today’s society, processed unhealthy food like fast food or junk food is
increasingly common among young people. This food can contribute to negative
influences related to their health issues and daily life. This essay will discuss some
problems caused by this situation and will propose some ways to tackle them.
Firstly, fast food contains numerous calories, cholesterol, and fat, while at the
same time lacking necessary vitamins and protein for our health. This can lead to
obesity, serious diseases such as high blood pressure, cancer, and cardiovascular
problems if we consume an excessive amount. Moreover, pre-made unhealthy food
results in sedentary lifestyles. For instance, the number of people who work in the
office usually purchase either processed food or fast food for their lunch due to
spending long hours sitting in front of the computer without doing exercise. Even
children nowadays prefer watching cartoons and eating junk food such as quick
snacks, fried chicken, and so on simultaneously than playing outdoor sports.
Clearly, actions need to be taken to solve these matters. One thing that would
improve the situation is that parents need to keep an eye on their children’s eating
habits, each person should reduce the quantity of processed food on daily meals
and do more physical activities. In addition, governments should introduce a ban
on unhealthy food advertising. They also can impose a tax on junk food or limit its
availability at schools and other public areas while raising inhabitants’ awareness
about the importance of eating quality food through education programs or
community health campaigns.
To sum up, the availability can have harmful impacts on a community’s well-
being and lifestyle if not limited, can become an addiction. Therefore, the methods
to improve this trend are for citizens and the government to step in and take action
to have better eating habits and enhance awareness about the necessity of healthy
food.
Topic 6: Education & healthcare should be free of charge and funded by the
government?
The duty for funding education and healthcare is a controversial issue. While
some people support individual responsibility, I believe that government
investment in these sectors is crucial for national development and prosperity.
On the one hand, many people believe that self-financing study and healthcare
will protect the public budget and national reserve from excessive stress, reducing
financial risk. In addition, personal investment will promote a sense of
responsibility and resources could be allocated more effectively. However, this
perspective overlooks the fact that no one has the financial capability to afford
these expenses. Those with limited resources suffer from irrespective burdens,
leading to social discrimination and hindering individual potential.
On the other hand, there are more compelling reasons why education and
healthcare should be provided free of charge as vital sponsors in a country’s
progress and well-being. By eliminating financial barriers, the government
empowers inhabitants, particularly young people to pursue educational
opportunities and reach their full competence. A good community will boost
innovation, and national development, and contribute to a more productive
workforce. Furthermore, the availability of healthcare improves public health and
reduces long-term burdens. For instance, Finland’s free healthcare system which
enhances a healthy and productive population, brings about its strong global
economic position.
In conclusion, I believe that the government should take responsibility for
sponsoring education and healthcare services. By doing this, they not only foster a
more equal society and promote individual potential but also establish a solid
foundation for sustainable national development.
Topic 7: High use of computer games by children and young people (problem &
solution)
In the modern world, computer games are becoming more and more popular
among the young generation. Games help them entertain and develop their brain,
however, excessive usage can lead to countless problems. This essay will
discuss major issues caused by this situation and will propose some measures to
tackle them.
One of the prominent matters related to excessive gaming is the influence on
study outcomes. Children immerse themselves in the virtual world which can
ignore their studies, leading to a decline in grades and academic achievement. In
addition, spending long hours sitting in front of the computer can contribute to
physical health issues such as obesity, vision limitation, and skeleton
diseases. Furthermore, addicting games also can result in social isolation because
individuals prioritize online interaction rather than practical relationships. This
causes feelings of loneliness and stay away from society.
Clearly, actions need to be taken to solve these problems. One thing that
would improve the situation is parents should limit on screen time of their children.
Encouraging a balanced lifestyle that includes outdoor activities and social
communications can reduce the detrimental impacts of playing games.
Additionally, the government needs to raise adolescents’ awareness about the
potential risks of high utilization of computer entertainment through education
programs and public campaigns
To sum up, high use of computer games can be harmful if not supervised, can
become addicted and suffer from health issues. Therefore, the methods to improve
this trend are for families and the government to step in and take action to limit this
situation.
Topic 8: Gap year, yes or no?
In recent years, gap year has become increasingly popular especially during
university or college. While some people support for its benefits, others have a
reflection due to its potential drawbacks. I believe that whether a gap year is
beneficial or not, it depends on the goals of each individual, and how they utilize
the time.
Firstly, a gap year can offer various opportunities for self-discovery and
personal growth. It allows individuals to step outside the academic environment
and explore different cultures, volunteer, or gain work experience. This can lead to
maturity, independence and broaden one’s perspective. It also provides clarity on
their academic and career aspirations, shaping more certainly decisions when they
pursue higher education.
Moreover, a gap year can enhance one’s study and professional prospects.
Engaging in internships, apprenticeships or language programs can develop
valuable skills that have advantages in today’s competitive job market. In addition,
spending time to recharge energy and pursue passions outside of school can
improve mental health and more concentrate on academic as soon as return to
formal education.
On the other hand, it is crucial to acknowledge the negative impacts of a gap
year. It is easy for the time slip away without setting clear goals and plans.
Furthermore, some students may struggle to readjust academic life after a long-
term break, experiencing difficulties with motivation or academic performance.
In conclusion, the decision to take a gap year should be carefully considered.
It is essential to access it with a clear purpose and seek opportunities for growth
and exploration. By doing this, a gap year can be an experience that enriches both
personal and professional development
Topic 9: Modern communication technology: negative effects on social
relationships?
On the other hand, this upward trend also has tremendous drawbacks on
relationships among people which need to be noted. Firstly, the popular use of
communication devices can cause distraction in work or study. The constant
notifications, alerts, and messages will demand our attention which wastes a great
deal of time to check and makes us ignore our main tasks. Additionally, it also
makes more serious feelings of loneliness as they always isolate themselves in
their room all the time. This leads to a lack of the essential skills for direct
communication.
In conclusion, while this issue has great benefits that can serve our daily
needs, I think that it brings about considerable disadvantages because of its
concentration shortage, lack of interactions between individuals, and lack of trust
in a relationship.
Topic 10: Young people should leave home when they become older?
The question of whether young people should leave home when they reach
adulthood or not is a complex and multifaceted issue. While some people believe
that living away from home is beneficial for teenagers, others maintain that staying
with their families is a certain safety. In this essay, I will discuss both sides of the
situation before giving a conclusion.
On the one hand, leaving home at a young age has various benefits. Firstly, it
can help young people gain independence and become more mature. Because they
will have to learn to take responsibility for themselves such as managing their
finances and taking care of household chores. Furthermore, they can also learn
more about different cultures, broaden their horizon as well as obtain diverse
experiences and perspectives which can be beneficial for their future. In addition, it
can also help youngsters to become more confident and sociable as they will be
surrounded by a community from different cultures.
On the other hand, there are reasons why some adolescents may
choose at home for a longer time. Because they have to pay for their
accommodation, food, and other expenses. In this case, staying at home can
provide a sense of financial stability and security, allowing individuals to save
money for their future with greater certainty. Moreover, young adults may feel
lonely and isolated in a new environment which can lead to depression and other
mental health issues. Finally, if something happens surprisingly to them, their
parents cannot provide the necessary support.
