2. PRESENTATION

Depending on the objective, a company will use text editors (such as Notepad) or word processors. The
difference is that the editor works only with plain text, without the possibility of incorporating
formatting, headers or images. One of the best current editors for Windows environments is Notepad+
+, which also has the advantage of being free software. In Linux operating systems there is a much
wider variety of editors, almost all of them equally powerful

A word processor is an application that allows you to create, modify, store and print any type of
writing, quickly and easily. It is one of the most used applications in the working world to prepare
commercial writing and design all types of documents. The best-known word processors are Office
Word, WordPad, Lotus WordPro and OpenOffice.org Writer.

As an apprentice and future systems technician, you should know that a word processor is usually used
to prepare, edit and format text in the documents produced by the company; in addition to other
complementary functions such as creating graphics, using dictionaries, spelling correction, creating
formulas, managing large documents, arithmetic functions, etc.-

3. FORMULATION OF LEARNING ACTIVITIES

ACTIVITY No. 1
The different types of text processing software are the ideal tool for writing reports, letters,
monographs and any other type of documents that require the ability to edit words, paragraphs,
images and other applications.

company and socialize with the instructor and your colleagues.

Additionally, discuss what word processing tools you know outside of the Microsoft Word tool,
socialize with the instructor and your classmates.

ACTIVITY No 2
All word processing applications are started from the start button or from the shortcut icon located on
your system desktop. For the Microsoft Word environment, when this is opened, we find the quick
start screen, through which we can start according to our needs, for example if we want a blank book,
a template with predetermined content or a file that we are working on. recently, etc.

At this time the learner will identify his or her prior knowledge and skills on how to access suite
programs such as Office and the graphical environment of the word processor; This knowledge will be
useful in your work and in activities related to the business tasks that you will perform in the future,
now ask the following questions.

1. Do you know the usefulness of a word processor?

2. Have you ever used a word processor other than Word?
3. How to enter a word processor on your computer
4. Do you know the graphical interface of a word processor?

REMEMBER: With the answers to the questions in this guide, build a document in Word and upload
them to the platform in the link provided by the instructor.

Additionally, the solution to these questions must be part of the debate carried out by the in-person
instructor, as well as feedback on the importance of the word processing tool. This activity lasts 40
minutes.

ACTIVITY No 3
Graphical word processor environment (in-person 1 – 5 hours) When you open Word, a selection of
new templates are displayed to help you get started along with a list of the most recently viewed
documents, so you can quickly get back to where you started. let. Or just start with a new blank
document.

documents to the cloud.
Change line spacing or apply formatting and styles
to text.
Insert blank pages, tables, images, hyperlinks,
headers and footers, page numbers.
Set margins, add page breaks, create bulletin-

REMEMBER: The solution to these 3 conceptualization questions must be part of the final work where I
attach the screenshots of the procedures carried out and the table of the third point, this activity has a
total duration between the graphical environment activity of the word processor it's 5 hours

Create the first document in Word

Word offers a series of tools to customize the formatting of documents, but it also incorporates the
concepts of themes and styles to simplify the application of a given format.

The format is the set of characteristics of the text that give it a certain appearance. It is a very broad
concept that ranges from the font to the spacing between lines, including the colors used or the width of
the margins. The format determines the final presentation of the text, which can be formal, striking or
elegant, depending on our needs. Before starting, remember that each process has its procedure to apply
it in your work and for this you can consult video tutorials or specialized pages, one of these video tutorial
pages is: tutorial and its video tutorial page on YouTube: Video

ACTIVITY No. 4
Formatting Tools Activity (in-person 1 – 4 hours) When working with a word processor, formatting tools
are undoubtedly the most used: that is why Word places most of them on the Home tab, organized in two
groups: Source (to modify the appearance of the text) and Paragraph (to adjust the position of the text on
the screen, add borders and organize it in lists)., make a cover letter in which you present your resume as

an applicant for a vacancy within a technology company, remember to use the following points in the
process:

a. Header and footer:

b. Watermark
c. Page borders
d. Font and Paragraph Styles and Formatting
e. Spell check

REMEMBER: The solution to this activity must be part of the final work where the cover letter is
attached, which must be attached to the work in Word that the apprentice is preparing. This activity
lasts 4 hours

ACTIVITY No. 5
Activity: Creating a template (in person 2 – 5 hours) A template is simply a starting point. A Word
template (or any other Office program) is something that you create once and can be used as many times
as you want. To create a template, you can start with a document that you have already created or
downloaded, or with a new document that you decide to customize however you want. Create a Word
template using the parameters established in the APA standards for the presentation of work. This
template must later be used to present your work and for this you must consult the current APA standards
and create your own template.

REMEMBER: The solution to this activity must be part of the virtual work where you attach the template
with APA standards, which must be uploaded at the link determined by the virtual instructor. This
activity has a duration of 5 hours

ACTIVITY No. 6
Activity: Mail Merge (in-person 2 – 5 hours) Use mail merge to create bulk mail that is personalized for
each recipient. You can add individual elements anywhere on a label, letter, envelope, or email, from the
greeting to the entire document, including images. Word automatically fills in the fields with recipient
information and generates all individual documents. At this point the apprentice must create an invitation
letter to a business event where a new product or service will be presented. Remember to include the
following points in your letter:

a. Start a mail merge

b. Create and edit a recipient list
c. Search and filter the list of recipients
d. Insert merge fields in the letter
e. Preview the mail merge result

REMEMBER: The solution to this activity must be part of the virtual work where I attach the template or
document with which I combine correspondence, which must be uploaded to the link determined by the
virtual instructor. This activity has a duration of 5 hours
