My story is about being in Yangon, Myanmar, with my mother and my two brothers.

We run a
small tea shop with my grandparents. Our family faced a significant challenge in 2021 when a
military coup took power from the NLD party, which is led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Most
people in our country don’t accept military coups. February 1, 2021, is when our country started
in the dark. In the face of this situation, our family joined a peaceful demonstration against it.
Unfortunately, my brother was arrested on February 28, 2021. But he was released in 2023.
When my brother was arrested, my mother and I still continued our revolution. As a result, my
mother became a wanted person, and our home is becoming the target of a military coup. My
mother, my younger brother, and I ran away to a small town, and my grandparents moved to
their native town. My mother and I did not stop the revolutionary process. On August 29, my
mother was arrested. And we narrowly escaped by moving to the safe zone. I was so depressed
that I didn’t know where to go or what to do with my brother. The challenge continued; my aunt,
a journalist, was also arrested on September 13, 2021. With all these happenings in my life, the
fastest thing I can do is cry, and I realize how much I depended on my mother. So, I decided I
must become an educated person who can help other people like me. Because I see in my
surroundings the people who are in trouble due to the military coup. I realize I’m not alone, and I
tell myself that I can face this situation. Fast forward to 2022, and I turned my experiences into a
source of strength to help others by joining the Ye Min (AAC) organization. We delivered basic
needs like food, salt, oil, clothes, and some medicine to the people who are participants in the
civil disobedience movement and war refugees by donation. I feel like rapture in volunteer work.
This work has become a part of my life since that time. I supported my brother’s academics by
enrolling in Karen School, and I stayed as a volunteer in Karen's safe zone for about a year. In
my opinion, a refugee is a person who has escaped from their own country for political and
other reasons. And they need our help. In 2023, I got the network from my mother's friend, and
he supported us in reaching Mae Sot to join the GED program. This is why I came to Thailand.
In conclusion, my journey has been marked by challenges, resilience, and a commitment to
creating positive changes. I made three plans to continue my dream of attending university. The
first is to get a scholarship; the second is to get a possible part-time job; and the third is to get a
loan from Zomier.org. And your scholarship can be an important part of my education.
