Internet addressing.
Internet Addressing is a system used to uniquely identify devices connected to a network
using the Internet Protocol (IP) .
IP addresses serve two main functions: network interface identification and location
addressing .
IP addresses are used to route packets through the network, ensuring that data reaches its
intended destination .

Types of internet protocols Web programming involves working with different include:

TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol):


A widely used protocol suite that provides reliable and connection-oriented communication
between devices .
HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol):
The foundation of data communication for the World Wide Web. It defines how web
browsers and servers communicate with each other .
HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure):
An extension of HTTP that adds encryption and security features, ensuring secure
communication between web browsers and servers .
FTP (File Transfer Protocol):
A protocol used for transferring files between a client and a server on a computer network

URLs (Uniform Resource Locators):

A Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is a string of characters that identifies the


location of a resource on the internet .

URLs are used to specify the address of web pages, images, videos, and other
resources on the World Wide Web .

A URL consists of several parts, including the scheme, authority, path, query, and
fragment
