2. Provide situational examples.

3. State cause and certain effect. (Causal Interaction)

INTRODUCTION

In simple Philosophy of being a human person or a social being, it

states that no man is an island. All of us are social creatures that were
created by the God who provides perfection. In this current era, many
of us experienced characteristics of existentialism such as alienation
and encountering with the nothingness which caused poor
communication to others that led extensive "break down" and mental
health issues.

According to me, a person who have no guts to express his/her feelings,

is a person who have a biggest chance to rely on his/her own freedom
just by communicating with the choice or chosen person. This also
states that "freedom isn't unlocked, silence is not the key", simply
emphasizes that each person have their own freedom through
communication.
Therefore, the final characteristic of existentialism is the freedom that
explains people must bear upon their own freedom after the encounter
of the different difficulties in socialism.

A. Tips when communicating verbally:

1. Strive to achieve clarity - In the middle of speech, the speaker is

required to share his/her information clearly to the audience in order
for them to receive the information and understand it just by simple
listening with no any form of misunderstood or mishearing of words.

•Situational Example: I'm a young motivational speaker in our

community, one day I was assigned to handle a speech for my fellow
youth. I had already done the content of my speech, all I need is to
pretend that I'm on the stage while practicing it. I was bothering myself
for being bad in pronounciation of words, as a solution for this I
changed the difficult words into simple words.

In the next few days, I was finally there on the stage. People clapped
their hands for me for being very good in motivating, also they
appreciated my way of speaking in front with very clear speech
information.

•Cause: The speaker strive for the clearness of his/her speech content
and style.

•Effect: The audience will understand the speaker's idea immediately

through simple listening.
2. Respect individual's differences - We already know that all people
has different perspectives in life the way of speaking, communicating
and acting. Each individual's differences is needed to be respected as
the proper behavior is required to apply everywhere especially when
communicating professionally towards other people.

•Situational Example: Arian was punished by the guidance counselor

for being a rude-sarcastic, vulgar and offensive to her classmates. Her
classmates are very polite and respectful, they can't take a joke that
actually seems serious. That day, she was joking and disclaiming about
their beliefs and norms. The one of her classmate told her adviser
about the situation, her adviser sent her to the guidance counselor.
Also, that day she realized that people are not the same and she have
to respect each of their beliefs and characteristics.

•Cause: The individual's differences are being respected.

•Effect: The conflict between a person to person will be avoided.

3. Avoid Stereotyping - In life, people are clearly different from each

other but it doesn't mean that we have to approach them differently.
The main point of stereotyping in communication is treating different
people differently based on their status. People must supposed to be
"neutral" (giving the same polite interaction) to each other regardless
of differences and life status.

•Situational Example: Arian is a detective while Loraine is a lawyer and

a prosecutor, Liana is their maid. Arian view Loraine as an honorable
and respectable while Loraine also view Arian as an high-class person,
they also respect Liana regardless of its status even she's not a
professional like them. Arian and Loraine communicate to Liana politely
the same way they treat each other professionally.

•Cause: The individual is being treated the way they deserve to be

respected regardless of their life status.

•Effect: Individual's dignity is being known. There'll be no way of

questioning someone's morality.

4. Use comprehensible words - When speaking, the communicators are

able to deliver a message intelligibly. Using comprehensible words help
the receiver to understand sender's idea without deeper thinking about
its meaning. Comprehensible words are the simple words that we able
to understand, simply the understandable words that we commonly
use in everyday communication. It is also similar to the clarity in
speech which audience will easily understand speaker's idea.

•Situational Example: I'm a poetic person, I love to use diction and

idioms when I'm speaking. Some people don't understand and get my
point, my everyday conversation with different people was an entire
misunderstood, even my mom told me that I'm out of my mind. I think
about some little adjustment when communicating and also when
writing a speech since I expect that not all people will get my point.
That day, I practice changing my difficult words into a simple word and
using understandable words until now I finally keep doing it. If the
world cannot adjust, I'm the one who will do.

•Cause: The communicators considered each other's level of

understanding.

•Effect: Both speaker and receiver will avoid misunderstood.

5. Be descriptive - The speaker must not assume that the listener will
get the point, consider that the listener knows nothing about what is
subject all about. The speaker must use descriptive style of delivering
information, it requires description of a chosen example in order for the
listener to understand what does he/she mean.

•Situational Example - I'm good in delivering words of wisdom, the

words of wisdom is known for very broad field of study. My classmates
can't understand what's the meaning of dualism. I use to describe the
body as our physical and our mind as mental, I also emphasized Plato's
point about soul. I described the soul as our mind because Plato's point
about soul is that who controls our body, our mind also controls it.
Therefore, the description of soul is our mind as one.
•Cause: The speaker describes example which the listeners can relate
their point of view.

•Effects: The listeners will get speaker's idea by the meaning and
description of speaker's example.

6. Index - In business, there's a target market. In communication, we

also have "target listener" which you consider what type of listeners do
you have in order for you to know your goal. Examples of the type of
audience are students, adults and former drug users.

•Situational Example: I'm a school's valedictorian speaker, I have to

consider my audience. My audience are teachers, co-students and
parents. My goal is to share my school journey as a student, I also want
to express the feeling of being blessed and my main goal is to share my
techniques and motivations that served as my foundation of being a
resilient student.

•Cause: The speaker consider his/her type of audience.

•Effect: The speaker will know his/her main goal of speech.

7. Avoid vulgar language and profanity - We know that, we have to

apply proper way of communicating with others in simple word, we
need to use proper etiquette and polite behavior especially when we're
speaking. The main goal is to convey information without being mean
and offending the audience. We also need to avoid inappropriate
languages such as curse words and offensive slangs.
•Situational Example: The students of Grade 11 Chrysoberyl are known
as respectful and considerate, they treat everyone as a person who
deserves to be respected. They also apply proper way of
communicating and approaching to their teachers and classmates such
as sending greetings and using polite words.

•Cause: The inappropriate words is avoided, instead the speaker shares

the idea professionally.

•Effect: Avoid offending the audience.

8. Eliminate generic language - The generic langauge is a simple way to

communicate, it includes choice of words that emphasizes a general
meaning of a sentence. In communication, we commonly use some
generic words such as "swans are white", "skies are blue". It helps the
audience to generalize the meaning of speaker's idea.

•Situational Example: I have to approach my teacher, I want to send

her a message. Instead of saying "good morning", I use "good day" as a
general.

•Cause: The speaker use general words to express the ideas of

information.
•Effect: The listeners will be able to understand the general meaning of
speaker's idea.

9. Own your thoughts and feelings - In way of communicating, we also

have to consider our listener's feeling and concern which includes
respect and consideration in order to be aware of what we should say
or act towards audience.

•Situational Examples: I'm a class reporter, I have to act polite and

professional towards my classmates to avoid negative comments from
them. Since, I have to consider their own point of view and concerns.

•Cause: Considering audience's feelings.

•Effect: Avoiding conflict and being aware of speaker regarding his/her

action towards audience.
