UPSC CAPF Syllabus 2024

Below, we have provided a table summarising some essential details regarding the exam pattern of the UPSC CAPF Exam. To be
selected for Assistant Commandant vacancies, candidates must undergo the following stages:
1. Written Examination
2. Physical Test
3. Interview

CAPF Exam Pattern


The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) issued the Of cial Noti cation for CAPF Assistant Commandant Post on April 24, 2024.
The CAPF Written Examination is scheduled for August 4, 2024. With the assistance of Defence Wallah, aspiring candidates can nd
the process of becoming an Assistant Commandant much more manageable. It is highly recommended that all candidates and future
aspirants of the CAPF Exam go through the CAPF Exam Pattern provided below.

UPSC CAPF Syllabus for Paper-1


Applicants must demonstrate accuracy and pro ciency to crack the UPSC CAPF Exam 2024. Candidates must avoid giving incorrect
answers as it will lead to negative markings. Candidates are advised to complete the UPSC CAPF AC Syllabus on time to practice the
previous year’s papers and mock tests.

This will help the candidates understand the nature of the exam, work on weaknesses, and improve as they take the CAPF Exam.
Candidates who score above the required cutoff in Paper 1 will progress to the next stage of the CAPF Selection process. The UPSC
CAPF AC Syllabus for Paper 1 is divided into six subjects.
• General Mental Ability
• General Science
• Current Events of National International Importance
• Indian Polity Economy
• Indian History
• Indian World Geography
Paper Subject Syllabus

Paper 1 General Mental Ability Logical reasoning Quantitative ability including numerical ability
and interpretation of data.

General Science Developing a scientific temperament and comprehending and


appreciating everyday observations of scientific phenomena,
including emerging fields such as information technology,
biotechnology, and environmental science.

Current Events of National International National and international events of significance in areas including
Importance culture, music, arts, literature, sports, governance, societal and
developmental issues, industry, business, globalisation, and
international relations.

Indian Polity Economy India’s political system and constitution: Understanding of India’s
political structure, constitution, social systems, and public
administration. Knowledge of India’s economic development,
security issues, human rights, and related indicators.

Indian History Nationalism and freedom movement: Topics related to the growth
and historical movements for freedom.
Indian World Geography The syllabus will encompass the study of both Indian and global
geography, including physical, social, and economic aspects.

UPSC CAPF Syllabus for Paper-2


The CAPF AC Syllabus for Paper 2 has descriptive-type questions that must be answered according to the Commission’s guidelines.
This section carries a weightage of 200 marks and assesses a candidate’s language pro ciency, comprehension, and essay-writing
skills. It is important to note that only candidates who meet the CAPF Cut Off in Paper 1 will be evaluated for Paper 2.
To perform well in this section and manage time effectively, students should revise their English grammar and regularly practice
writing essays on relevant topics.

Paper Topic CAPF Syllabus

Paper 2 Essay Syllabus includes key topics such as modern Indian history, with a
specific focus on the freedom struggle, as well as geography, politics,
economy, knowledge of security and human rights issues, and
analytical ability.
Comprehension, précis writing Syllabus includes subjects such as reading comprehension, précis
language skills writing, developing counterarguments, basic grammar, and other
aspects of language testing.

UPSC CAPF PET Assistant Commandant


Candidates can take the CAPF Assistant Commandant Physical Ef ciency Test if they meet the UPSC CAPF Paper and Paper 2. (PET)
cutoff marks. The following will be included in the PET for CAPF:

All of the tests offered for CAPF PET are required and have a qualifying nature. The chosen individuals are shortlisted for a medical
review after passing the physical tests.

UPSC CAPF: Interview/Personality Test


Candidates who pass the CAPF AC written exam and PET can take the interview and personality test. The CAPF interview carries 150
points.
The Union Public Service Commission will contact candidates who have passed the Medical Standard Tests to schedule an interview
and personality test. Interviews and personality tests will be required of candidates deemed medically un t but still allowed to appear
before a “Review Medical Board.”

UPSC CAPF Previous Year Paper


For candidates aiming to succeed in the UPSC CAPF exam, solving the previous year’s papers is a crucial aspect of the preparation
