Wear Elements In

Front Loaders and Shovels

Basic Course for Supervisors
From Mina

1
Goals
After completing the course the supervisor will be able to:
1. Know the main wear elements, their location, function and
order in loading equipment.
2. Identify the different models of buckets on front loaders.
3. Know the useful life, dimensions of some elements (new, for
change, for turning and/or rotation) and performance of the
main wear elements.
4. Know the costs of the main wear elements.
5. Train operators on the previous points.
Basic Concept:
WHAT DOES GET MEAN?:

• G = ground, E = engaging, T = tool.

(Earth contact tool), the GETS or wear elements, are
parts that protect the “mother” structure of a
bucket. We must not forget that it will depend on the
proper use or application that we give to the GETS
to obtain the maximum benefit in our loading task,
which means longer bucket life and greater
productivity at lower cost.

Nails/tips: FLIPING and/or ROTATION
o PALLAS
When the wear of the nails reaches the measurement A = 12 ½” <> 318
mm, the nails MUST be turned.

And if necessary, the rotation MUST be done

from the same. This rotation is carried out

regardless of wear and measurement

“A” of the others.

The warning in time for the TURN

will prevent uneven wear of both
faces of the nail and we will have more hrs. of
their working duration.
