Family:

I am writing to you to inform you about the organization of computer classes this
school year.
The school's computer lab will be used. Each computer is shared by a group of
students, observing participation, respect for others and care for shared resources and compliance
with established health protocols.
Students will need to bring the manual or work module to all computer classes. They can also use it virtually in
case they forget the paper material. In this way, tasks in the classroom will be facilitated since it contains all the material for the
year along with the activities proposed in the annual planning. All activities must be completed, even if the student is absent,
since they will be constantly used as a guide in all tasks.
Behavior in the laboratory is very important, physical resources will be shared, valuing empathy, solidarity and
mutual respect.
Written or oral tests may be taken in groups or individually. The evaluation will also be carried out with the
presentation of practical work and with the monitoring of all the tasks carried out.
Weekly attendance at class is very important, as well as complying with the institution's rules: wearing a school
uniform, being orderly when entering and leaving school, and being respectful of teachers, non-teaching staff, and students.
companions. It is essential that students do not go to school too early since the computer room is always occupied by other
students, so they will not be able to check-in before the established time.

Once we have turned on the computer we will find the desktop. This is the main and largest space of our PC. On the desktop we
will find different elements and sections:
- Icons: they are the small images that we will see scattered over the background of our desktop. These are shortcuts to
different programs that we have installed on the computer. We will see, for example, the Internet icon, the Computer icon, the
Trash icon, among others.
- Taskbar: this is the name given to the line that we see at the bottom of the screen. There we will have other icons, which can
be the same or different from those on the background. They also serve as a shortcut to different programs.
- PC data: in the lower right corner of our PC, on the toolbar we will see some data. If the computer is a Notebook we will see
the battery, the date and time, the Wi-Fi antenna or Internet connection, among other things.

COMPUTING

WHAT IS A COMPUTER?
A computer is a machine that processes data quickly and accurately to provide results or information. It is a device that receives
information, processes it and generates new information; It uses memory to store data and a central processing unit to perform
calculations.

WHAT DOES A COMPUTER DO?

A computer receives information, processes it and produces new information.

WHEN WERE COMPUTERS INVENTED?

Computers and the tasks they perform are already indispensable in our lives; However, many do not know about its origins.
When did they emerge and why? Who used them? What size were they?
When do you think computers began to exist?
In this timeline we are going to look at six computers: Babbage's Analytical Engine (1837), Hollerith's Tabulating Machine (1890),
the Colossus (1944), the EDVAC (1946), Clementina (1960) and the Commodore VIC. -20 (1980).

When we talk about computers, we generally think of desktops and laptops. However, they have been around for a long time! In
this activity we are going to travel to the past to see what some of them were like.
Today these computers seem very strange to us. However, each one had great relevance at the time of its appearance. Look at
them:

EDVAC (1946) Clementine (1960) Commodore VIC-20 (1980)

The idea of performing calculations mechanically kept humanity awake for centuries. One of the oldest known instruments is the
abacus, which was a tool for making simple arithmetic calculations. It is believed that it began to be used around 2000 BC. C. Find

Who do you imagine used each of the machines analyzed?

The first five computers – Babbage's analytical engine, Hollerith's tabulator, Colossus, EDVAC and Clementina – were used by
teams of professionals: scientists, technicians, mathematicians, calculus experts, etc., who used them to solve problems.
scientists and technicians that required a lot of mathematical calculations, such as how much fuel is needed to take a rocket to
the moon or determining the best way to establish flight routes to get the most out of an airline's planes and crew. Although the
Commodore VIC-20 required certain knowledge, its use was not limited to computer professionals and was similar to that of
desktop or laptop computers that exist today.
Complete the following
table:

Looking at the images and reading the descriptions, what machines do you think we could have in the classroom?

Computers everywhere
Many gadgets that are part of our daily lives are computers, even though we don't usually think of them as such. A computer can
do many things, for example, traffic lights, ticket machines, and printers are mounted on a computer.
Computers are machines that manipulate different types of information, such as text, images and sounds, using different
programs, such as music players, word processors or image editors. “So, do you think a smartphone is a computer?”

TYPES OF PC

The PC: It is a personal computer (PC: Personal Computer). It came onto the market in 1981 and evolved in capacity and
speed, reducing its cost until it became one of the most popular devices.
Personal computers come in two forms , desktop computers and laptop computers .
Desktop types are larger, typically remaining in one place on a desk or table and plugged into an
electrical outlet. The cabinet can be horizontal or tower type. The latter can be placed on the
desk or on the floor.
These computers have a separate LCD or CRT-type monitor , although some designs include the
screen in the computer case. A keyboard and mouse complement the computer
for data and command entry.
The types of laptops are small and light enough to carry without problem. They
run on batteries, but can also be plugged into an outlet.

They typically have an LCD or LED screen, which is protected when closing the computer for
transport. They also include a keyboard, USB ports, memory card inputs and touchpad. Although
some laptops are less powerful than a desktop computer, this is not always the case. However, a laptop costs more
than a desktop of equivalent capacity. This is because the miniature components required to make laptops are more
expensive.

The types of laptops are:

- Tablet : It is a portable computer that can be interacted with through a touch or multi-
touch screen. The user can use a stylus pen or fingers to work with the computer
without the need for a physical keyboard or mouse. Tablets can be used to:
Watch videos
Update your social networks
Read magazines and e-books
Surfing the Internet
Check emails and instant messages

Netbook : It is a low-cost laptop computer that is generally small in size, which

provides greater mobility and autonomy. They are mainly used to browse the
Internet and perform basic functions such as word processing and spreadsheets.
A netbook is a fantastic, perfect companion device, it will allow you to do a
lots of things, like surfing the Internet, watching movies, sending emails or chatting.

Notebook: Notebooks are essential computing devices for demanding users. They are powerful mobile PCs
aimed at creating multimedia, participating in video games and watching high definition video.
Can:

Edit and upload photos

Encode music and video, even in high definition.
Do multitasking, multitasking and more multitasking Update social
networks, quickly and easily Make video conferences
Watch videos in high definition
Play powerful 3D video games

In computing, data are symbolic representations, whether numerical, alphabetical,

alphanumeric, etc.
Data is, thus, the information (values or references) that the computer receives through different means, and that is
manipulated through the processing of programming algorithms . Its content can be practically anything: statistics,
numbers, descriptors, which individually have no relevance for the users of the system, but which together can be
interpreted to obtain complete and specific information.
The process of manipulating facts into information is known as "processing." Once the data is in digital format, various
procedures can be applied on the data to obtain useful information.

THE COMPONENTS OF A COMPUTER

A computer is made up of mechanical parts, electrical parts and electronic circuits. Likewise, in order to function, it needs groups
of instructions that serve as a permanent guide, so that it can be an automatic machine.
The speed is provided by electronic circuits, capable of performing millions of operations in a second.
The peripherals are the devices that users manage, through which they enter data and the results obtained, that is, the
information, are collected. Peripherals are the keyboard, mouse, printer, monitor or screen, modem, speakers, scanner, digital
camera, etc. We can say that there are input and output devices or peripherals. Among the input we can mention the keyboard,
the mouse, the scanner and the microphones. Among the output ones are the printer and the monitor.
The CPU (Central Processing Unit, also known as CPU, in English), is the heart of the computer, it is completely electronic.
It can be said that a computer is a system with two main components: hardware and software.

- The Hardware
It is the set of mechanical, electrical and electronic parts that are part of the computer. It is made up of physical elements, they
are tangible parts of a computer system. The CPU, monitor, mouse, disk drives, modems, scanners, and printers constitute the
hardware.

It is the set of instructions and programs that direct and control the operation of the computer. Software is made up of logical
elements, they are intangible. Operating systems, word processors, spreadsheets, antiviruses, Internet browsers, and games are
examples of software.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP AND COMPUTER SECURITY

Digital citizenship is the set of coexistence and behavioral guidelines that allow us to interact in virtual environments. As digital
citizens we can exercise this double role of right and duty. We can intervene, give our opinion, participate, because it is
everyone's responsibility to ensure a cyberspace free of mistreatment, aggression, and discrimination. Just as it is also our right
to express ourselves freely within the common framework of rules that take into account differences and guarantee respectful
and safe treatment.

It is increasingly important to know how to use a computer, a smartphone or any other computing device. However, to be a
conscious digital citizen, it is not enough to just learn how to use software. It is also necessary to understand how it works and be
aware of the dangerous and unexpected situations that may arise. In this way, fraud, infections and abuse can be avoided, among
other problems that, together, are called “computer security”.

SOCIAL NETWORKS AND DIGITAL PRINT

What is fingerprint?

The identity or digital footprint is the image that others see of us on the web. From our passage through
the different environments, communities and Internet services we leave traces, from our personal data
to our tastes and preferences. Sometimes we leave opinions, we adhere to some ideas or causes, and
without realizing it we build digital footprints that will tell more about us than we sometimes assume.
It is the set of information published on the Internet about each of us. This includes: data

personal information, images, videos, news, comments, likes, friendships, etc. All these elements make up the image that others
have of us on the web and, in some way, determine our digital reputation.
Digital identity is dynamic and complex. It can be constructed without corresponding exactly to reality. However, what is done
under that identity has consequences in the real world and vice versa. That is why it is important to be aware of it and take care
of it responsibly.

What do we understand by social network?

A social network is a computer system programmed by people, which runs on a set of computers somewhere in the world. By
connecting to any of the networks, you can establish contact with other people, share information, interests, activities and
games, among other things.

ACTIVITY: Searching for one's own footprint. It is proposed that each person explore their “digital footprint” in different
search engines, sites and social networks. Then in small groups discuss the following questions:

1) What information were you able to gather about your digital footprint?
2) Did you find something you didn't like that anyone can see?
3) Do you remember in what situation you did it?
4) How would you configure your user profile today?

I invite you to mark the configuration of your profile with a cross as appropriate:

ACTIVITY: Analyzing the publications. It is proposed that you analyze each publication to create a secure profile. Circle the profiles
that are not so safe and indicate why you marked them.

AUTHENTICATION WITH PASSWORDS

In the famous story “Alí Baba and the Forty Thieves”, the criminals used the secret phrase “open sesame” to open the doors of
the cave where they kept the stolen treasures. Throughout history, different types of touches, handshakes, and secret greetings
have been used as passwords between groups of people.
Nowadays, practically all of us need to have some kind of secret word or code to access another type of treasure: valuable
information. Whether it is social networks, games or online shopping platforms, the truth is that most services usually require a
username and password.

2. The bank asked the grandfather to create the password using these rules:
• The password must contain at least two uppercase letters.
• The password must have more letters than digits.
• The password must contain at least three symbols (not letters or numbers).

Look at the proposed passwords with your colleagues and indicate which one is the most appropriate.

UNIT 2 • OPERATING SYSTEMS

Operating systems are programs that manage devices and the exchange of data between them. It is basic software that controls a
computer. The operating system has three major functions: it coordinates and manipulates the computer's hardware, such as
memory, printers, disk drives, keyboard or mouse; organizes files across multiple storage devices and manages hardware failures
and data loss. The most used operating systems are WINDOWS, MS-DOS and LINUX.

Digital book: Active Computing.
The operating system
Currently there is a wide variety of Operating Systems, such as Microsoft Windows and all its various versions that are still used
around the world: XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. In the field of laptops and desktops, we also have Linux and MacOS, among others.
On mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, we have iOS, from Apple, exclusive to its products, and the very widespread
Android.
We can define the Operating System as the program that allows us to control and manage physical resources (hardware), as well
as the exchange of information with the user (what we define as the interface), while generating the environment in which the
rest function. of the programs we use (also called "applications"). The Operating System is then an essential piece for our
computer since without it it cannot function. A good Operating System is one that
manages the computer's resources efficiently while being easy to use for the user and
allowing the applications to perform well.

The Windows 10 Desktop

The moment we turn on our computer and Windows starts, what we see is what is
called the lock screen.
This lock screen will take us to another one where we must indicate our system
password.

Windows 10 Desktop Items.

In the image we can see:

2) An icon representing the network connection used.

3) Volume icon.
4) Notification panel.
5) Team date and time.
6) It is a button that minimizes all open windows and clears the desktop when pressed.

The Windows

Windows, like its previous versions, bases its interface on the use of windows. That
is, each application opens in a box called a window, which allows us to have several
applications running at the same time and change from one to another, showing or
hiding their windows.
Most Windows windows follow the same structure and are similar to the one you
can see in this image.
This window corresponds to Windows Notepad.
Window Basics:
-The title bar is located at the top of the window. Indicates the name of the program or document.
.. Aulaclic.txt: Notepad olate - □
-The control buttons that allow you to vary the size of the windows and close them. They are located in the upper right corner
and allow you to minimize, maximize-restore and close.
- □x

The minimize button turns the window into a button located on the Windows 10 taskbar, hiding the
window and showing what is behind it.
The maximize button Expands the window size to the entire work area, while still showing the taskbar.
The restore button 5
gives the window a size smaller than full screen, to allow us to adjust the size and position as we
consider appropriate. By default it adopts the size and position of the last time it was restored. It is only shown when the window
is maximized, replacing the maximize button.

The close button is responsible for closing the window. If you have made changes to any document,
will ask if you want to save the changes before closing.

• Comment on the usefulness of maximizing

or minimizing windows.

Creating and organizing icons on the desktop

An icon is a small image that represents a file or program. The icons help us identify what type of file it is and what program it
works with.
In the following image we have three types of icons in the following order: one for a program, another for a file (Excel) and a
shortcut to a program.

Shortcuts are a type of file whose objective is to immediately open the file to which it is linked, whether it is an executable, a
folder, an image, a document, etc. We can create shortcuts anywhere.
We have several different ways to create shortcuts, let's see some of them.

Create and customize folders

To create folders and subfolders, we must first be sure where we need to create it, for example, on the Windows desktop, as
shown in the image below. Then you have to press the right mouse button or secondary button and then choose NEW/FOLDER.

Windows includes some applications with the system, which will serve us for the basic uses of the computer, such as using the

These applications appear in All Applications in the Start menu, many of them included in the Windows Accessories folder and
others in the letter that corresponds to their name.

Multimedia and entertainment

Windows has various tools for managing multimedia files: photographs and images, videos and music.
With Windows Media Player we can see images, play videos and music, also copy our discs to the PC in mp3 format or record
music CDs that we can play anywhere.
Like all Windows applications, we can run it from one of its shortcuts with the □ icon, the list of

UNIT 3 • WORD PROCESSORS - WORD

Word processors are programs specialized in making the task of writing easier for us, it is a word processing program. They are
easy-to-use programs that allow you to quickly create any type of text, allowing the insertion of images and graphics into the
design structure.
The presentation of documents, in addition to responding to practical criteria, must always be considered from an aesthetic point
of view. Therefore, a clear structure and a good layout of the texts are essential requirements.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

There is no definition accepted by all experts of what artificial intelligence means. First, because it is a new, changing and
experimental science. And second, because we cannot even define exactly what human intelligence is...
In its simplest form, AI is the attempt to imitate human intelligence using a robot, or software. But it is a very vague concept,
because there are many ramifications.Stuart Russell and Peter Norvig differentiated four types in 2009: systems that think like
humans, such as artificial neural networks. Systems that act like humans, like robots. Systems that use rational logic, such as
expert systems, and systems that act rationally, such as intelligent agents.

Although it is a concept that has become fashionable in recent years, artificial intelligence is not something new. 2,300 years ago
Aristotle was already trying to convert the mechanics of human thought into rules, and since the time of Leonardo Da Vinci,
scientists have tried to build machines that behave like humans.
Once we know the basics of AI, it is easy to understand why it is a revolution. Since it simulates and imitates human behavior, its
possibilities are endless. Depending on how you train the AI, it can perform all types of tasks, from providing customer service to
chatting on a social network, offering help, driving an autonomous car, recognizing faces, interpreting photos, or predicting price
movement. of shares on the stock market. And soon, maybe decide whether to offer you a job in a job interview, or have open
heart surgery...
Artificial intelligence has countless applications, including the ability to do unethical things. One of the latest examples is
Deepfake, the falsification of videos where some faces are changed for others, or lips are manipulated to make a politician or an
opinion leader say false things.
But what geniuses of our time or technology gurus like Stephen Hawking. Bill Gates or Elon Musk fear, it is not the misuse of AI,
but that AI becomes too smart, and decides to do without us because it reasons that we are a danger to life on Earth, or
unnecessary for its own evolution. What Marvin Minsky already predicted in 1970: "maybe, with luck, computers will decide to
have us as their pets."
We must trust that the experts will do the right thing, and mechanisms will be established so that LA does not turn against us.
The benefits will be countless, in fields as diverse as the detection of diseases, discoveries of cures for cancer, solutions to climate
change, and much more.
It will change the world even more profoundly than the Internet or mobile phones. Are we prepared for it?

Another way to activate this application is using the F7 key or from the context menu by clicking on the word underlined in red or
blue as will be seen later.
As you type text, you'll notice that some words are underlined in red and others are underlined in blue. These marks indicate that
Word considers it incorrect, those underlined in red correspond to spelling errors, while those underlined in blue correspond to
grammatical errors.
What Word is not capable of doing, at the moment, is discerning the meaning of words in each context.
If we write, the bibliography of the great writer Miguel Delibes is very vast and vast! Word will not detect any errors since both
"basta" and "vasta" are correct words that exist in the dictionary, although in the first case the correct word is "vasta" and in the
second case "basta".
The spelling check consists of checking that the words in our text are not wrong and the grammatical check tries to ensure that
the sentences do not contain grammatical errors such as "The books are good"; where the gender of the subject and the
adjective do not agree.
Obviously Word performs the spelling check better, because it only has to compare with dictionaries. That is why it is important
that we pay special attention to possible grammatical errors, which, depending on the context, are more difficult for the program
to identify.
Example:

The spelling and grammar checker is an essential tool to deliver or written documents, without any errors. Therefore, after writing a text, it is important to
activate this function that Word offers.

Steps for correction:

From the context menu:

From the Review menu:

When the checker is selected, a dialog box will appear highlighting the error. In the lower area, the Word dictionary offers
different suggestions for replacement. There are different possibilities of action against errors.

In the example it is observed that the word “paragraphs” (without accent) will be changed to “paragraph”. To do this, CHANGE
will be selected. With CHANGE ALL, you would change all the times that the found word was written incorrectly, in this case if
“paragraphs” had been written three times, the three words would be replaced by the correct way of writing it, with an accent.
The OMIT option allows you to leave the word as it is, and OMIT ALL would leave unchanged all the times the same word
appeared.
With ADD, Word allows a word to be added to the dictionary. It must be taken into account that said word should not have
spelling or grammatical errors, ensuring correct writing.

• THE DICTIONARY OF SYNONYMS

Another very useful tool for perfecting texts is the thesaurus. Before activating it, select the word you want to replace and follow
the steps shown below.
From the context menu the word to be replaced will be selected, in this case the word is “location” and it will be changed to
“site”.

ACTIVITY: Example: In the following paragraph change “peculiar” for a desired synonym.

Literature; term that designates an act\ pecul of human communication and that could be defined.
according to the Latin word that gives it origin, as the art of writing, writing, alphabet, grammar, set of
literary works.

ACTIVITY:

The following text is a quote from the book "The Craziest Grandpa in the World", written by Roy Berocay.

Copy the following text and then correct any errors by checking Word for spelling and grammar. Also, give it a title, look for the
words "allergy" and "travelers" and highlight them, apply justified alignment with multiple spacing at 1.15 and finally increase the
indentation of the fourth paragraph.

Well, everything worked out: I would stay fifteen days in that old house near the beach. They said that grandfather
had built it with his own hands; that he had built the walls of blocks and boards and that he had made the floors of
wood, joining them nail by nail, but that seemed like an exaggeration to me. Who could be so patient? There were
millions of nails!
I felt ants in my stomach and, since I really liked to think about all things, I tried to find out why. Was I nervous about
having to live with someone my mother considered a bad example? Or had I never been away from home for so long?
I knew that that feeling came to me for both reasons at the same time and also for other things. Something, a kind of
nervous allergy, made my heart beat faster.
The old game, the grandfather who smoked a lot, the gadgets, the music, the nearby beach... there were many things
together that came to my mind just like in a movie.
I thought it could be fun, a kind of adventure, and I almost looked forward to the day of the trip.
I smiled. I had just remembered that there was a wonderful room in the house, which was like a small tower, where I
could play space travelers or sit and draw in front of the wooden window that overlooked the beach.

UNIT 4 • SPREADSHEET - EXCEL

The main function of spreadsheets is to perform mathematical operations, in the same way that the most powerful calculator
works, but also to compute complex interrelationships and organize and present the results obtained in graphic form. In addition,
it allows you to place, sort and search data, as well as insert blocks of text and images. With this program you can make company
budgets, phone books, price lists, keep accounting, etc.
In this unit, we will see basic notions of handling and formats, so that in later years they can study other concepts, such as
calculations, functions, formulas and graphs.

A range is a set of cells (two cells or more). For example: The range included with cells C1, C2, C3, D1, D2, D3 is called C1:D3.

UNIT 5 • COMPUTATIONAL THINKING-BATTERIES BLOCKS

What is computational thinking?

In 2006, Jeannette Wing published the article Computational thinking in which she argued that this new competence should
be included in the training of all boys and girls, since it represents a vital ingredient in learning science, technology,
engineering and the math. But what is computational thinking?
In Wing's own words "computational thinking involves solving problems, designing systems and understanding human
behavior, making use of the fundamental concepts of computing." That is, the essence of computational thinking is to think as
a computer scientist would when we face a problem.
Other definitions of computational thinking have been emerging in the scientific literature since then. Among the most
accepted are:

• Computational thinking is the process that allows problems to be formulated so that their solutions can be
represented as sequences of instructions and algorithms.
• Computational thinking is the process of recognizing aspects of computing in the world around us, and applying
computing tools and techniques to understand and reason about both natural and artificial systems and processes.

Computational tool:

Pilas Blocks is a tool to learn to program by completing small challenges. These challenges have different levels of difficulty
through blocks.
In each activity a specific problem is posed, which students must solve by programming. You can access and use it for free by
entering: http://pilasblocks.program.ar/

Teaching sequence:
In this sequence we will work on one of the Block Piles Challenges , which allows us to program sea an
automaton (represented in this case by a cat). The instructions or orders that the automaton must carry
out are organized graphically in a series of blocks.
Each block corresponds to an action that you must perform; When nested vertically, they form a script ,
that is, a task that is done in an established order from the first block to the last (visual mind, from top to
bottom).

Activity: The cat in the street

In this first part, it is suggested to work only with the action blocks of the category Primitive gory . Clicking on that option takes you to
the list of actions. For the automaton to execute an action, drag the corresponding block to the editor (the sector on the right) and
place it under the block that says Start executing. tar. For example, in this case, students will select the move forward block.

To insert a block, you drag it from the block categories in the center column and drop it
between the blocks where you want to add it . If you want to delete a block (or several) from
the sequence, simply drag it with the mouse to the trash can.
Students will also be able to explore other ways of arranging the blocks above. beef; for

Until now, blocks have been used that correspond to primitive actions , that is, pre-established basic
actions, but new blocks, that is, new actions, can also be created. These new actions will be called
procedures. Therefore , procedures are new actions that the user explains to the computer. I wonder how
to do them.
Continuing with the previous example, a new block can be created that represents the activity of falling
asleep and that can be exercised directly. To do this, inside the ca In the My Procedures category,

COMPUTER OPERATIONS
The types of operations related to the management of information that can be carried out with a computer are:

Data entry: This operation is carried out by the user through a scanner: for example, entering letters, numbers, etc. Through a keyboard, or entering an image through a scanner.

Data processing: Includes the basic information processing operations, which are: ordering, selection, combination, classification and execution of calculations. For example, alphabetizing a list of company personnel or modifying a photographic image.

Information output: After data processing, the desired results are obtained. Information is seen through the screen or sound is heard through the speakers.

Storage: A copy of the information is made in some physical element, so that it can be used again. The most common form of storage is magnetic disks.

Recovery: Information stored on some physical element is read, for example, when a file recorded on a floppy disk is opened from a word processor or when an image recorded from a CD-ROM is recovered.

Transmission: It consists of the transfer of information to another computer through a data communication network. For example, a computer is connected to the Internet to send information to another computer.

Reception: Previous information from another computer reaches a network through some connection, for example, when a message is received through email.

2) Orders the actions carried out when using a computer. Copy below what you did in item 1 the actions already

Mysterious story and Word
Read the following story, copy it using Word and write a possible ending. It must contain at least two paragraphs of
five lines.
Apply the following formats: title with effects of your choice, Calibri font size 11, justified text with 1.5 line spacing
and without grammatical or spelling errors, replace the words “calm” and “nervous” with Word synonyms. Underline
the synonyms and also italicize them. Graph using Paint or paste an image representative of the text. The sheet
should be A4 with a moderate margin.
The sinister window
Tomás rented a house near the sea, looking for a quiet place to finish the novel he was writing. The site seemed ideal: it was
surrounded by dunes and forests, away from the road and north of a large beach. He hung up his clothes and set up his computer
near a window that overlooked the garden. From there you could see a wooden chalet that was the only construction
neighboring his house. After lunch, he made himself a coffee and got ready to work. He turned on the computer, reread the last
pages he had written and began to look for a way to continue the story. While he was reflecting on the subject, he looked at the
chalet and the window that opened in front of his window. It was covered by an almost transparent curtain and through it he
thought he saw a person watching him. At that moment a sentence magically formed in his head and he began to write.
Four hours later he took a break and looked out the window again. The sun was setting and the afternoon was turning into night.
In the neighboring house a light had turned on and he could see more clearly that someone was really behind the window.
Looking carefully, he was sure that it was a man with a long black beard. Tomás worked a few more hours and then went to
sleep.
The next morning he went for a walk and went to the chalet, but since it was surrounded by a fence, he couldn't get close to the
window. However, he managed to see the man more clearly and felt a chill when he noticed that he did not change his position
or stop spying towards his house.
He tried to forget it and not look out the window, but every so often he looked up at the strange character. Finally he went to
sleep and had black nightmares. Two days passed and he decided to go home. He rang the bell and knocked on the door, but no
one answered. From that moment on he couldn't stop thinking about those eyes that followed him day and night and seemed
more sinister when the light turned on inside. After a week, I was so nervous that I couldn't write a single letter. He hardly slept
anymore, he felt the threatening presence of the black-bearded man all the time and decided to return to the city.

Illustrated glossary

What is a glossary?
The glossary is a dictionary of terms of a subject or discipline that allows all the information on a
topic to be available in alphabetical order .
The user will be able to search for information through the letter with which each term begins.
In the image below, an example of a glossary from a digital Biology book is shown:

00000000000000000000000000

| Glo§ary: (E)

ecology (Gr. oikos, house + logos, speech)

The study of the interactions of organisms with their physical environment and with each other, and the results of these interactions.

Chapters:
• 52: Population dynamics: The number of organisms

ecosystem (Gr. oikos, house + system, what is put together)

The organisms of a community and the associated abiotic factors with which they interact

ACTIVITY: Your task will be to make a small illustrated glossary of the subject you like the most or the one you need the most.

As you do?

You will select a unit from that topic and seek to define at least fifteen most important words related to that central topic, for
example: Central topic: cells. Words for the glossary. Cells, eukaryotic cells, prokaryotic cells, organelles, etc.

To perform this task, use the following formats :

> A table with two columns, one with the words and the other to define them.
> Bullets, capital letters and bold in each word to be defined. Definitions must be in lower case, without applying bold and
with justified alignment.
> For the words to be defined, use the same font and font size that is different from the corresponding definitions.
> Number the pages.
> Include some images related to the concepts.
> Correct any spelling errors.

Read about water on the continents, organize water types with the SmartArt feature and with tables.

Water on the continents

Almost all the water we regularly use has a much lower salt content than
that of the oceans, which is why we call it “fresh water.” It is found on the
continents, either on the surface or underground, in a liquid or solid state. Some
scientists place waters in a solid state in a terrestrial subsystem different from the
hydrosphere: the cryosphere.

The surface waters

Surface waters are "bodies" of water found in di different regions of the
earth's crust.
Glaciers. In regions with a polar climate and in the highest mountains, the
snow does not melt in summer and accumulates. As new layers of snow are
deposited, the lower ones are compressed, lose the air they contain and
transform into ice. The glaciers are, then ces, masses of ice that move from
the snow accumulation area to those where the ice melts. At the poles, ice
covers thousands of square kilometers, forming glaciers that cover the
relief. In regions with less snow accumulation, the ice is channeled between
the mountains like tongues towards the lower areas of the relief. The rivers.
They are born in the high peaks, from the melting of glaciers and snow, in a
lake or in springs that rise to the surface from the interior of the Earth. They Perito Moreno Glacier, in Los Glaciares

There are other waters that cannot be observed on the surface: groundwater . These run beneath the ground, at different depths. Sometimes
they are stored in so-called aquifers or freshwater reservoirs. Other times they move slowly toward the ocean like subway rivers. rraneous.
Finally, some come to the surface and form a spring, which can be cold, temperate or thermal waters.
Thermal waters abound in volcanic areas and have properties des curatives. In many places, people extract groundwater by drilling into the
ground to connect to an aquifer and consume or use it. zan in agricultural or industrial activities.
