DIAGNOSTIC TEST

C HAPTER SUMMARY
This is the first of the three practice tests in this book based on
the GED® Reasoning through Language Arts test. Use this test to
see how you would do if you were to take the exam today.

T his diagnostic practice exam is of the same type as the real GED® Reasoning through Language Arts
test. It consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and one essay question. These questions test your skills
in comprehension (extracting meaning), application (using information), analysis (breaking down
information), and synthesis (putting elements together).
The answer sheet you should use for the multiple-choice questions is on the following page. Then comes
the exam itself, and after that, the answer key. Each answer on the test is explained in the answer key to help you
find out why the correct answers are right and why the incorrect answers are wrong.
