Welcome to the 2011 ESSEC International Banking Seminar, a well-known event among leading international banks and institutions. Investment banks are employers who enjoy high reputation among outstanding students. Working in the banking industry requires considerable intellectual skills, notably mastering sophisticated evaluation methods and the ability to work hard and quickly. This represents both a genuine challenge, and a superb professional learning opportunity toward future leadership positions. The public reputation and legitimacy of banking is highly scrutinized today, and never before has it been more important to educate professionals, combining strong analytical skills with philosophical and ethical competences, to afford them the capacity of weighing wisely their decisions. The ESSEC MSc Finance Track
The Finance Track is designed for students wishing to pursue job opportunities in investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, financial analysis and research, corporate financial and treasury management, strategic auditing and consulting. It allows students to consolidate their knowledge of the field and prepare for a career in finance. The ESSEC MSc Finance track currently offers more than 20 specialized Finance courses, in 3 (non exclusive) options. Option 1 Corporate Finance Option 2 Financial Markets Option 3 General Finance The Finance track is taught both in English and French. The ESSEC MSc Finance Track is a CFA Program Partner. The CFA Institute is the professional body that awards the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Research
One of the main objectives of the ESSEC Finance Department is the creation of knowledge through high-quality original academic research. This emphasis on research is visible in all the spheres of academic life: Publication of high-impact articles in the best academic journals; Teaching at the doctoral level and dissertation supervision; Academic seminars and conferences where top international researchers present and discuss their latest work. The departments research work is fundamental and underpins the excellence of its teaching. Research contributes to the provision and development of a sound education for our students, building on the most advanced bodies of theoretical and empirical knowledge and the most modern methodological tools. The departments research activity focuses on 11 key areas of finance: financial derivatives, risk management, commodities, portfolio theory, macrofinance, market microstructure, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate governance, bankruptcy, liquidation and reorganization and real estate.

The department offers 23 courses in Finance to more than 2,000 students each year. In particular: The Finance Track is open to students who wish to specialize themselves in the Finance area and have successfully completed a selection of courses. Advanced Masters in Financial Techniques & Finance and Asset Management.


1. These Advanced Masters program (partially taught in English) have been operating for more than 15 years. Over 14 months of coursework including an internship, about 50 students prepare their career in the financial industry (market finance and corporate finance). Graduating alumni take jobs not only in Paris financial community but also in the major financial capitals of the world. 2. Since 2009, ESSEC has also launched a new Financial Engineering Asian Track (entirely taught in English) to train international students in the domains of risk management and financial engineering. This program is partially based in ESSECs Singapore campus, where students can benefit from the exciting developments in the Finance area taking place in Asia. The Finance Track of the ESSEC MSc in Management program and the Advanced Masters in Financial Techniques are partners of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute. ESSEC Executive Education.


The ESSEC Finance Department, along with a selected network of industry professionals, offers a Wealth Management program. 1. This program, offered in French, is meant for financial advisors working in the asset management and wealth management area. The program is composed of ten short seminars given on the ESSEC campus in La Defense (Paris business district). This feature enables participants to follow the program while continuing their full-time job activities. The program can also entitle graduating students to the ESSEC Wealth management certificate. 2. Examples of seminars offered: wealth management overview, legal and fiscal environment; real estate investment, bargaining and selling, and modern portfolio management techniques.

ESSEC Business School chose Singapore as the location for its first research and teaching center abroad. This aims at developing an original Euro-Asian approach. A region of the world to be reckoned with. By establishing itself in this region to conduct specific research programs into its markets, ESSEC Business School intends to enrich its expertise through direct involvement with the ever-changing Asian market. Strategic Management: - Implementation of the defined and adopted asset/portfolio strategies. - Overseeing the marketing process (renting and sales). - Technical support: project management and overseeing of works. - Financial, administrative, legal and accountancy management. - Fulfilling all administrative obligations. - Periodic reports. Our multi-disciplinary teams analyse and manage all types of real estate debts or assets (offices, warehouses, retail and residential), be they newly constructed or for re-development, everywhere in Europe. The teams also create individual strategies that are tailor-made to the objectives of each client.

The company, which has its headquarters in Paris, is planning to launch a branch in the United Kingdom.

Full-time positions are available in: - Acquisition and Business Development. - Asset Management. - Portfolio Management. Internships: nd We are offering 6-12 months internships to ESSEC 2 or rd 3 year students. Most of the positions will be based in Paris.

Profile Sought

We seek highly motivated young candidates with solid understanding of corporate finance, real estate activity and good computer skills. Candidates should also have strong interpersonal skills to work with clients and colleagues in a fastpaced team-oriented environment. An excellent level in English, both written and spoken is required.
