Business Analyst-1

Q: What/Who is a Business Analyst?

A: A business Analyst is a "Business System Analyst" more importantly.

Where he/she will analyze the System meant for Business.

Business Analysts document the requirements by meeting the Business, more of an

Interface between Business and the IT World, or work as a bridge between the two of
them

Q: What is the role of BA?

A: My Role as a BA is to understand the Business, Understand The requirements, and to

become an SME for the team. I see myself as a Power User of the System.

Power User as in I know every Functionality of the System In and Out.

Q: How many Systems are there typical to work on as a BA?

A: Two types of Systems are there,

1)Internal System:

(Salesforce and Other CRM Like Oracle for Sales and Other Management Systems to be
used within the Company for employees of the Company only, not shown to the outside
world or customer using the service, or product).

-Designed for the end users, which are the employees of the company itself.

2)External System:

(Any Business System that is made keeping in mind to be used for their customer.)
Examples:
Amazon, Walmart, and Myntra are official websites for self-checkout and shopping.
MCD self-order Machine. Walmart self-checkout machine.
So your JOB as BA is to get or gather the REQUIREMENT either for Internal
System or External System.

Q: What is the requirement then?

A: So basically Requirement is the change in the Existing System.

and if a System does not exist then How should a System work or be made
or built.

Suppose Amazon wants to integrate Paypal in/at their checkout page then definitely
person presenting Amazon will come in contact with the business analyst, BA will
understand the requirement and get the reason why, and accordingly, he will collect the
requirements in detail from all other sources available and then document it and will
connect with internal IT team that involves QA and Developers.

Q: What are the Ingredients/Characteristics of A Successful Business

Analyst?

A: 1)Good Interpersonal Skills

2)Good Listening Skills
3)Question Asking Skill
4)Note Making Skill
5)Communication skill
6) Problem-understanding and solving skills
7)Requirement Gathering and analyzing skill

Q: What are the different types of projects that come in an IT Company?

A: 1)New System.

2)System Enhancements.(New System or Application instead of Software).

Amazon adding PayPal Integration is a typical example of it.

90% of the projects these days fall under this category.

3)System Re-Engineering
To Revamp the Whole Website built with older technologies into newer technologies.
(you trash away the old legacy system and replace it with a new advanced system
providing all older features of the old system with new features required for a new era of
generation.
Okay so for the System Re-Engineering, BA's Role is to do with the Reverse Engineering,
where he has to prepare documentation describing every single functionality of the older
system or application that it used to perform earlier, from single one-click functionality
to all other features.

Apart from the older functionality listed in the documentation, the new functionality has
to be added somewhere for sure so that to get a new touch overall.

Q: In an IT firm, BA has to work with which team or people?

A:
1)Business Team(Sales and Marketing).
2)IT Team (System Architect/Team Lead + Team of Developers + DBA +Quality
Analyst).
3)Management Team(Project Manager).

Q: Project Manager is mainly responsible for ?

A: The project Manager ideally stays in touch with BA, System Architect, Team Lead or
Senior Developer, and other decision-making personalities of the companies to work
with them for an escalation-free project delivery. He/She is mainly responsible for the
following:

1) Project delivery is taking in the given time frame or not.

2) If there is a delay in the project, then what is the reason for the delay?
3) To decide the budget after discussing and checking the scope of work.
4) To check if any blocks or escalations are coming along the project way & to work on
them.
Q: What is the deliverable of a Business Analyst?

A: A document that contains the Requirement also called a Business Requirement

Document. It is deliverable to the client and not to the internal
Development Team.

This Document contains an Overview of the requirement & not a detailed analysis.

Q: What is the first deliverable of a Business Analyst to the Internal

Development Team?

A: Functional Requirement Document also called FRD. It is a document that

contains details of requirements and is further classified as follows:

1)FRD (Functional Requirement Document)

2) Use Cases
3) User Story

This is nothing but the flow of requirements to be followed in a typical style or format.

All these documents with different formats ultimately have the same motto and that is
Requirement Gathering. The only difference is how the information or requirement
gathering will be displayed in that particular Document.s

In general, it depends on the company how they would like to document their
requirement so that it could be easy for their accessibility and understanding.

Q: What will be the role of the System Architect?

A: System Architect, a Team Lead basically who leads the team because he has no. of
experience in the working profession. So he will design the whole roadmap or architect
the system from daily scrum calls till uploading it on the server. A System Architect is
not a group of people, he is just one guy.

Suppose he has any doubts then he will go and meet BA.

Secondly, he will go and talk to BA in Business Language & not in Technical
Language.
Others:

1) Programmers or Developers:

They will simply write the code based on the System Architect's design and the roadmap
planned for them. Will follow up with the Team Lead or System Architect daily.

If they have any doubts then they will connect with BA for general or business-related
doubts and will connect to System Architecture or Team Lead for Technical Doubts.

2) Data Business Administrator:

For managing the Data Flow to be stored in the Database.

3) Quality Analyst/Assurance:

He/She will test the system developed as per the requirements given irrespective of any
assumptions made.
