Business Analyst-3

SDLC is the lifecycle of the project.

SMEs: Subject Matter Experts

Business Jargons

Q: What is the role of BA once the SDLC begins?

A: Business Analyst on a day-to-day basis collects or gathers the requirements or starts

the SDLC cycle with Requirement gathering from the SMEs: Subject Matter Experts
and not from the Business Owners directly.

But Business Owners will help BA outs find the SMEs for the correct Modules.

“This takes place in the Business requirement Gathering part of SDLC Life
Cycle.”

Q: What happens in the Analysis part of the SDLC Life Cycle?

A: Now comes the Analysis Part after Requirement gathering in which the actual
documentation starts from BA after collecting/gathering all the requirements from The
Business Owner and SMEs.

and that document is to be formatted either in "FRD" OR "User Story" OR "Use Cases"
form.

Q: What is the Requirement Freeze Date?

A: The Last day/date of requirement Gathering and Analyzing Phase. BA needs to sign
off on this date.

It is to make a stop so that SMEs will stop making changes and projects could go in
the direction of design & development and phase further, otherwise, SMEs will
keep making the changes, and projects will never start/move.
BA will schedule a meeting with SMEs and make sure that we are on the same page and
this is what you wanted, right? If not then tell me the final changes that have to be made
and sign off, please.

Others:

The design phase will consist of or include a System Architect/Team Lead

who will plan the roadmap for the Developer Team.

- BA = SME for Developers, QA, DBAs, and the System Architect.

- Sandbox Environment: Testing Environment

- Production Environment: Live System.

- Production Contains Real World Data whereas Sandbox contains Dummy

Data. So you can play with that.

Q: What is your Role as a BA?

A: My Role as a BA is to understand the Business, Understand The requirements, and to

become an SME for the team. I see myself as a power user of the System.

Power user as in I know every Functionality of the System In and Out.

Q: If allowed to work with us, how would you get up to speed?

OR

Q: If introduced to a new business domain, what steps would you take to

understand the domain?

Ans: I would start understanding the new business domain by reading the existing
process document so that I can Familiarize myself with the As-Is Business
Processes. I would also make sure that I understand all business Jargon associated
with Business Scope. I would also understand the current system in the sandbox
Environment. While I do this, I would compile a list of questions that may arrive and
would like to get them answered by talking to a designated mentor.
If You are working as BA then you will examine the insurance application paper
very carefully.
so that you will get a detailed ideation of how the application form looks and what
it demands to make it available on the external system developed for the end user
customer.

after examining the Insurance Application form, you will find certain
terminology called Business Jargon which you have to either google to
understand better or there might occur some cases when business jargon or
terminology you will have to understand through SMEs or Higher senior
Authority working in that firm from a long time back.

So this use case we studied over here, the BRD will simply require to
be submitted to the business owner first are we on the same page or
this is something we are talking of to be developed?
