CHAPTER 1.

ABSTRACT

"This study focuses on the implementation and impact of initiatives to prevent the use of
plastic, especially single-use plastics, at MSU, Maguindanao. It comprehensively examines the
effectiveness and efficiency of policies aimed at reducing the use of single plastics within the
campus. A one-time survey and interviews were developed and conducted with 59 students

plastics within the campus.

Our results show a noticeable reduction in single-use plastic usage on campus, and people are
becoming more supportive of sustainability efforts. However, we also found some obstacles,
such as resistance to change and issues regarding policy implementation. This research will
provide practical ideas for other schools seeking to reduce plastic usage and demonstrates how
universities can contribute to environmental conservation.
