Chong Hua Hospital is a scope of services type of hospital (general) for it provides
services for different kinds of illnesses, diseases, injuries, or deformities. Also, it is one of the best
tertiary care hospitals in the Philippines. The hospital offers the most comprehensive health care
services at affordable costs and is the is home of the region's top specialists and sub specialist.
Services from the hospital includes (1) Expert Doctors, (2) Laboratory Services, (3) Renal Unit,
(4) Radiology, (5) Emergency/Acute Care, (6) Heart Institute, (7) Cancer Center, (8) Executive
Health Unit, (9) Center for Sleep Disorder, (10) Eye Institute, (11) Food and Nutrition Services,
(12) Neurophysiology, (13) Nursing Services, (14) Pharmacy, (15) Wellness Center, (16)
Endoscopy Services Chong Hua Hospital is the preferred referral hospital for physicians and
patients seeking the highest level of quality healthcare in the region. It is one of the biggest, most
advanced, fully integrated, and comprehensive healthcare facilities in the Visayas and Mindanao.
The hospital is also recognized as an industry leader and was commended by the Department of
Health for rendering excellent services and facilities at par with those of the most respected
hospitals in the world. The type of health care providers (that was discussed on our lesson 1) that
are present in Chong Hua Hospital are (1) Physicians, (2) Nurses, (3) Pharmacists, and (4)
Dietitians.

Physicians in Chong Hua Hospital diagnose and treat injuries or illnesses and address
health maintenance. They examine patients; take medical histories; prescribe medications; and
order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. Several physicians that are present in the hospital
includes (1) Obstetrics and Gynecology, (2) Surgeons, (3) Internal Medicine, (4) Orthopedics, (5)
Pediatricians, and (6) Anesthesiologists. First, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN). An
obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, has expertise in female reproductive health, pregnancy,
and child birth. Some OB-GYNs offer a wide range of general health services similar to your
primary care doctor. Others focus on the medical care of the female reproductive system. Next,
Surgeons. A surgeon is a doctor who specializes in evaluating and treating conditions that may
require surgery, or physically changing the human body. Surgeries can be done to diagnose or
treat disease or injury. In the operating room, surgeons lead a team of other doctors and nurses
to make sure that a procedure goes smoothly. Next, Internal Medicine. They are sometimes
known as Internists or Doctors of Internal Medicine, are experts in complexity. They specialize in
adult medicine, and are specially trained to solve diagnostic problems, manage severe long-term
illnesses, and help patients with multiple, complex chronic conditions. Next, Orthopedics. These
focuses on injuries and diseases of your body's musculoskeletal system. This complex system,
which includes your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves, allows you to move,
work, and be active. Next, Pediatricians. These are doctors who treats newborns, children,
adolescents and young adults. They have a wide range of responsibilities from conducting regular
well-child checkups to diagnosing and treating illnesses, injuries and other health conditions.
Lastly, Anesthesiologists. Anesthesiologists are medical doctors just like primary care physicians
and surgeons. They specialize in anesthesia care, pain management, and critical care medicine,
and have the necessary knowledge to understand and treat the entire human body.

Nurses of Chong Hua Hospital is committed to safe and quality nursing care by
continuously providing patient-centered and personalized care driven by innovative and
evidenced based nursing practice. Chong Hua Hospital nurses endeavor themselves as
dedicated caregivers, educators, mentors and leaders true to their commitment to genuine
nursing care aligned with current standards of practice complemented with a human touch. As
they progress through their professional practice, a range of career advancement options are
available for them to pursue, either in clinical or administrative pathways. In addition, through
continuous quality improvement initiatives, our nurses utilize streamlined processes such that
their pursuit of personal and professional growth does not compromise their work-life balance as
they render safe, updated and individualized care.

The provision of dispensary services to all patients of Chong Hua Hospital is primarily
undertaken by the hospital’s pharmacy. The Chong Hua Hospital Pharmacy is manned by
registered pharmacists and clinical pharmacists, pharmacy assistants and clerks, under the
supervision of the chief pharmacist, assistant chief pharmacist and senior pharmacy leaders. 24-
hour pharmacy services are provided everyday including on holidays for both in-patients and out-
patients, that include medication preparation and compounding, medication dispensing, drug
counselling and patient education, unit-dose drug delivery system (for in-patients) and inventory
management that extends to floor stocks and E-carts. To maintain the high quality of service so
that safe and effective pharmaceutical products and procedures are provided to patients, the
pharmacy staff regularly undergo continuing professional development activities, as well as
provide relevant learning activities in collaboration with the medical, nursing and ancillary staff.

The Clinical Nutrition Service of Chong Hua Hospital is manned by registered dietitians
and nutritionists. It offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient nutrition consultations and
education sessions for people interested in learning how to eat healthy, understand nutrition
labels, and how to incorporate all foods into a healthy eating plan for various medical conditions
such as Diabetes (Type 1, Type 2 & Gestational), Gastrointestinal Disorders, High Blood Pressure
and other Cardiovascular Conditions, High Cholesterol, High Uric Acid Problems, Metabolic
Disorders, and renal diseases.
