TEAM ASSIGNMENT

Instruction:

This is a TEAM assignment, each with THREE members.

You are NOT allowed to use any other software rather than Microsoft Excel. Read all of the questions
carefully to fully understand the requirements before starting the assignment

Learning Outcomes:

In conclusion, students should be able to:

 Prepare a financial accounting spreadsheet with appropriate formulas, functions, formatting and
charts.

Scenario:

Mucho House is a popular Coffee shop. Its popularity is due to two things: Coffee and Cakes and good
delivery service. The shop offers Coffees that can be given as a present for just about any occasions

Since its establishment in May 2010, documentation of supply orders, customer orders, price calculation,
and promotional activities are all done manually on paper.

The owner of the Coffee shop is looking for a consultant who can automate the suppliers’ particulars and
other transaction by using a spreadsheet application. The design of the spreadsheet should look like the
depiction in figure1 below.

Assume that you have been assigned to work for this shop in the above mentioned capacity. Use only
Microsoft Excel to create the spreadsheet. You are to consider making the spreadsheet as user friendly as
possible with figures that re-compute automatically for each month of the incoming years to come.
Ultimately, make the spreadsheet’s future maintenance effortless.

Question 1:

Assume that you are going to create a spreadsheet template for the monthly supply order. Use Microsoft
Excel to create the worksheets according to the following requirements (refer to Figure 1 when needed):

a) Open a new work book. Rename Sheet1 tab to “MAIN FORM”. This worksheet should include the
table depicted above.
b) The respective calculations should ONLY be effected if the check box is enabled. Use the same prices
given in the Figure1.
c) Use cell to adjust the quantities for the items
d) The receipt should only reflect item that have been captured (bought)

e) The Order summary must have a provision for delivery which should only reflect if the TOTAL
PRICE is greater or equal to K500
f) Rename worksheet 2 to CHARTS and create dynamic charts for coffee and cakes respectively.

g) Column titles should be in UPPER CASE, bold and italicized.


h) Format each column according to the right data type.
i) Include a small logo of the Coffee shop (feel free to design your own) on the top row of every
worksheet created.
j) Include the current date and time below the logo for every worksheet created using a specific
function.
k) Make the spreadsheet presentable.
l) Save the spreadsheet as template.

Question 2:

There are various methods to formulate the computations. Use the best methods, which will make the
spreadsheet’s future maintenance effortless.

(Hint: For effortless future maintenance, use logical if function and absolute reference where applicable)

DISCOUNT

a) Calculate the discount to be offered based on the following criteria


i) Price is greater than or equal to K500.00 – 3% discount
ii) Price is greater than or equal to K800.00 – 4% discount
iii) Price is greater than or equal to K1000.00 – 5% discount

FREE CAKES

b) Calculate the number of free cakes based on the following criteria. Include a provision on the order
summary
i) One (1) Fruit cake/dozen after the first of 2 dozens, minimum 3 cakes
ii) One chocolate cake/dozen – minimal of 7 dozens.
iii) One red velvet cake/dozen – minimal of 10 dozens.

c) Write a Remark next to the Price if the Number of cakes for each type of cakes is greater than 0 but
less than the minimal order criteria. The remark should inform the spreadsheet user the minimal
number of cakes to be ordered for the specific type of cakes.
d) In the cakes worksheet section, use conditional formatting to highlight the Number of Cakes cells if
the total number of dozens is at least 1, but less than the minimal criteria for b above (free cakes).

VALIDATIONS:

Provide appropriate validations to control unrelated data being keyed into the tables, which will include:

a) The price in worksheet cannot be less than or equal 0.

b) Negative values and decimal values are not acceptable for any input on the coffee and cakes section on
the MAIN worksheet.

c) With password:

i) Price section (PASSWORD: BBA100).

ii) Any cells containing the constant rate, or formula where an absolute referencing refers to.

Question 3:

Create a spending analysis for the current month using the template. Use appropriate data types. Save it
as “Spending Analysis”.

Question 4:

The advanced features may include the features that are not being taught to you in class, as well as your
own findings from external resources such as related books and the internet. This will score you extra
points.

You may use you own creativity to arrange the text. However, you must ensure the ease of reading and
visibility.

The assignment will be submitted on the e-learning platform (Moodle) and presentation schedules will be
advised.
