Find your true match (main editorial)

Philippines, with its current job demands are looking for workers. However, senior high school
(SHS) graduates are at a job-skills mismatch. Luckily, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is fast with
his words as he directs the country’s educational agencies to fix the current school programs.

Good news it is to the SHS graduates especially to that 80% that failed to land a job, as the
President directed the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to “upskill
and reskill” the graduates to meet the jobs required by the countries industries. Due to many
graduates having a job mismatch with careers that are no longer adapted in present times, the
current demand of the President will help with this issue.

“We need the involvement of the industry as they tell us what kind of workers they need, and
what kind of training [our schools] need to give. This, in turn, will lead us to put additional
learning tracks” the President said. He discussed a proposal with officials to improve the
country’s technical-vocational education and training (TVET) programs to help with the careers
in demand in the country.

As the Presidents main goal is for the graduates to have jobs available and near their reach even
if they are not hired outright he aims to have a direct linkage with the industry to benefit those
from it, he said in a recent interview. While lower-class towns are at a disadvantage due to
financial and situational issues, he said that Tesda’s training program should be better designed
for those who are part of that class.

As the President along with Tesda continues to work and recalibrate the programs needed for
the various learning tracks, this will help those who find difficulty in finding jobs due to
incompetency of most learning tracks and the job-skill mismatch issue. Soon enough those
following their path will finally find their true match.

Entrepreneurship: the way to success (editorial)

Working a 9am to 5pm shift to only make a minimum living wage is not going to be enough
anymore, this is now the set reason why Gen X-ers and millennials are striving to be an
entrepreneur or stay employed in companies that offer flexible work hours.

According to a study, 53% of the respondents from Gen X-ers (43-58 years old) and Millenials
(27-42 years old) age groups said that amidst the current workforce they would rather start
their own business than stay as employees. This is good news for the national economy, as
increasing the ranks of entrepreneurs will mean more opportunities to increase employment.

This is a welcoming development to those who aspire to be entrepreneurs, this can be nurtured
as the government wants certain businesses such as one-stop shops so they can get their
business permits to be brought into the formal economy. As they desire mentorship and
additional knowledge so they can improve and make their enterprises more profitable, this will
set those small entrepreneurs that need help expand their small enterprises.

However, although gaining the honor of becoming part of the formal economy, it is said that
most entrepreneurs could possibly be discouraged if they are squeezed by fixers just when they
are starting out lowering their chances of making it big even before their business takes off the
ground.

Though it is not because they are deprived from their deserved wage in their previous jobs that
they aspire and contain the drive to shift in careers but it is because of the greediness to have
freedom and freely work their way into the industry in the way, and time they prefer.
Help my unbelief (our daily bread)

In the days we find ourselves drowning in the dark and being eaten by our own condemned
pain and suffering, we pray to god in hopes he lessens the overwhelming feelings we feel and
the challenges we go through on a daily basis. But, when he shows no signs, we cry in hatred,
doubt, and betrayal because god hadn’t given us the result we dreamed and prayed to have. We
doubt the presence of god, that even in our most faithful days we experience and have these
moments of doubt. “Where is my faith?- though I feel nothing but pain and hatred…… god if you
are there- please forgive me” Mark 9:24 immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe;
help me overcome my unbelief”

The feeling of tears (feature)

It plays, and the echoes of their work plays, when you’re there, you’ll stop breathing in
anticipation and expectation. As the tv broadcasting team watches in glee mixing with the
exhaustion and hope, one catches the eye , as not only was he not happy with his work, but
along that feeling was tears- liquid streaming down his eyes as he watches their creation.

Prince Tiglao, in charge of the technical application of the Filipino Tv Broadcasting team last year
2023. The one person crying as their publication was being presented upfront. Said by his
teammate Tina Echalar, their work was not something they were proud of and that they were
met with disappointment as they watched it.

It seemed as if the disappointment to their work wasn’t enough, the announcement of winners
were up and as cliché as it was, they were met with the award of failure. Having no place and
not being able to move forward to the next round, tears were soon found on not only him, but
also the entire team.

Dejected, disappointed, and filled with regrets were the journalists of the Filipino Tv
Broadcasting team. As they cried out their feelings and stopping in between “maganda,
maganda yung gawa nyo kahit ano man yung nangyari” words, simple words that came from
their teacher coach Ma’am Joy Jean Lonsame were all what they needed to be sobbing back
into tears.

This experience became a learning lesson to not only them but also to me as a viewer and
witness to everything that played Infront of me. Prince Tiglao was never weak for showing tears,
nor was he a disappointment for not being able to produce the work he could’ve been proud of;
he was a living emotion of everything that they felt.
