Iot Connector For RFID

Zebra – FX 9600 / FX7500

Features and benefits –

• Enterprise Data Collection - real-time alerts, health statistics, RFID tag reads, asset information—all with date
and time stamps.

• Off-the-shelf Tool - IoT Connector makes Zebra fixed RFID readers simple to configure, no coding required. Just
specify what types of data you want to collect, how often, and where to send it, and IoT Connector takes care of
the rest.

• Standard Protocols - As an alternative to complex, custom-coded applications, IoT Connector simplifies the
management and control of Zebra devices with modern, web-friendly protocols such as REST APIs and MQTT,
saving ISVs and system integrators significant time and effort to deploy their solutions.

• Analytics at the Edge - With more processing power and a highly capable Linux-based operating system
available on fixed RFID readers, IoT Connector provides a framework to run script-based applications for more
sophisticated analytics on devices, enabling users to make real-time decisions at the edge
Target Market : in retail, warehouse, transportation and logistics, and manufacturing.

Q. Is IoT Connector licensed?

A. No. IoT Connector is a reader feature, free of charge.

Q. How do I get IoT Connector on my RFID devices?

A. IoT Connector for RFID will be available as part of a firmware upgrade on FX9600/FX7500 series RFID readers. After
upgrading to IoT Connector firmware, the reader can no longer be downgraded to previous versions of the firmware.

Q. What RFID devices does IoT Connector support?

A. FX9600 and FX7500 readers.

Q. How is IoT Connector different from FX Connect? What happens if I am using FX Connect and decide to upgrade
to IoT Connector firmware?
A. IoT Connector is a set of high-level protocols that include HTTP, MQTT and REST APIs that makes configuration,
management and data integration of passive RFID readers easy. FXConnect on the other hand only deals with data push
and cannot be used for configuration and management. IoT Connector will support most of FXConnect capabilities and
more. Users need to take few manual steps to map FXConnect settings to IoT Connector. Once upgraded to IoT
Connector firmware, it cannot be downgraded to run FXConnect.

Q. How is IoT Connector different from Cloud Connect? What happens if I am using Cloud Connect and decide to
upgrade to IoT Connector firmware?
A. IoT Connector is an evolution of on-device Cloud Connect, supporting the modern cloudy protocols like HTTP, MQTT and
REST APIs on the reader, enabling edge processing via scripts, and a feature-rich reader UI to configure reader Operating
Modes, etc. Application built with CloudConnect APIs will still work after upgrade. However, interacting with cloud services is
much easier with IoT Connector APIs.
Setting up Zebra IoT Connector is three step process:
1.Add endpoint configuration.
2.Configure interfaces to appropriate endpoints.
3.Start IoT Connector Service.
Endpoint Configuration can be added by clicking Add Endpoint button. currently reader
supports following endpoints.
•ZDS (Zebra Data Services).
•MQTT Broker.
•HTTP Server.
•AWS IoT Core.
•GCP IoT Core.
•IBM Watson IoT Platform.
•Azure IoT Hub.
