• FIDIC, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, is the global representative body for national
associations of consulting engineers and represents over one million engineering professionals and 40,000
firms in more than 100 countries worldwide.
• FIDIC member associations operate in over 100 countries with a combined population in excess of 6.5bn
people and a combined GDP in excess of $30tn.
• The global industry including construction is estimated to be worth over $22tn this means that FIDIC
member associations across the various countries are an industry are worth over $8.5tn .
• FIDICs member associations economies range from
approximately $3bn to over $19tn in scale,
demonstrating the global reach of FIDIC.

• China and India are the only countries in the world with more than one bn people
• Africa is the second most populous continent with about 16% of the world’s population
• Africa has approximately 30% of the earth’s remaining mineral resources.

Global industry including construction is estimated to be worth over $22tn but studies have found the level
of investment in infrastructure to currently be insufficient
• The global infrastructure outlook found that global infrastructure
investment needs to be $94 trillion between 2016 and 2040,
which is 19 percent higher than the current trend
• The world will need to increase the proportion of GDP it
dedicates to infrastructure to 3.5%, compared to the 3.0%

• The World Bank since 2000 has invested in over 1700 projects
totalling an approximate amount of $200bn. Since 1947 it has
invested in 13,622 projects in 174 countries
• The IDB has over a $20bn project pipeline and has invested in
excess of $450bn since 1957

• 1600 candidates have attended the FCCE training course in

awarded Certificates signed by the FIDIC President
• Next exam in expected in November 2019.
