5-10 In my role as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the Early Intervention Program, my goal is to help toddlers and family members of toddlers with
special needs enjoy a life without limits. This is facilitated through a combination of research and best practices, with a special focus on my
relationship with the child.
Most memories of a toddler are linked to an emotion. Speech therapy can be frustrating for children with speech delays, leaving youngsters
with a negative emotion regarding their Speech-Language Pathologist. I attempt to motivate children to interact with me by balancing fun with
work. With a child-lead approach to sessions, toddlers are mostly unaware of the work being tactfully injected into play. This leaves little feet
dancing at the door!
