Why IKS?
In the land of Bhārat, preserving the legacy passed down through generations is
paramount. However, technological advancements have influenced humanity's
psychological and spiritual growth, leading to a growing mindset among Indian
youngsters that anything Western is superior, while anything from their own country is
inferior and outdated. This attitude contributes to brain drain, as talented individuals
leave India for other countries. One of the primary reasons for this attitude is the lack of
knowledge about the glory of India's past contributions and present developments.
The fundamental principles of the New Education Policy 2020 emphasize "rootedness
and pride in India, along with its rich, diverse, ancient, and modern culture,
knowledge systems, and traditions”. The course on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) is
born out of this principle and aims to bridge the gaps in understanding that young
Indians have about their own country's valor. IKS demonstrates that ancient India
played a pivotal role in the world's progress. For instance, many computer scientists
now appreciate the Sanskrit language's profound logical structure and use its science in
their algorithms, psychologists and spiritualists find their inspiration and support from
the Yoga principles. Additionally, India's progress in mathematics is highly regarded by
mathematicians worldwide. The world gazes upon India with awe-struck amazement,
marveling at the architectural wonders crafted from the robust granite stone.
Despite the world's limited knowledge of India's actual past, it acknowledges and praises
the country's notable contributions. However, the question arises: what about Indians
themselves? Every Indian has a responsibility to understand their scientific roots,
scriptural-spiritual-cultural heritage, and take pride in their country's glory. This
understanding will enable them to apply the knowledge of the past and connect it with
modern science, leading to India's self-reliance. The transformation must begin with the
youth realizing the greatness inherent in their own heritage.
This "IKS - Esoteric and Spiritual Insights" diploma course is a unique educational
program designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of
indigenous knowledge systems (IKS) from an interdisciplinary perspective. This course
incorporates scientific and logical aspects, along with practical applications, to equip
Indian youth with the tools they need to integrate IKS into their daily lives for spiritual
growth and personal enrichment.
One of the primary goals of this course is to ignite a deep love for India by showcasing
the profound wisdom and knowledge that its ancestors possessed. Through the
exploration of various aspects of IKS, students will gain insights into the cultural
heritage, traditions, and values that have shaped Indian society over centuries. This will
foster a sense of pride and appreciation for the country's rich history and cultural
diversity. Furthermore, this course aims to bridge the gaps in understanding various
aspects of daily living that incorporate IKS in some form or another. Students will gain a
deeper understanding of how IKS can be applied to modern-day challenges and
opportunities.
May every Indian who aspires to know their culture and wants to take the
responsibility to be the torch bearers of Light of Bhārat, take this course and get the
most out of it.
Salutations to my Nation!
