PRACTICAL - 1
AIM: To create a story using pictures, clip art in MS Word/Libre office writer.

TOOLS REQUIRED:

❖ A computer with windows OS


❖ Ms office software (or) Libre office writer
STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED
Using the Styles and Formatting

➢ Open a New word document.

➢ Set the margin and select the type of sheet using page Layout Tab.

➢ Page styles -> Margins, headers and footers, borders and backgrounds.

➢ Paragraph styles -> Text alignment, tab stops, line spacing, and borders, and can
include character formatting.

➢ Character styles -> Font and size of text, or bold and italic formats.

➢ Numbering styles -> Numbering or bullet characters, and fonts to


numbered or bulleted lists.
➢ The story will be typed in paragraph using all text formatting options.
➢ Open a file browser window and locate the image you want to insert.

➢ Save the document.


RESULT:

Thus, a story has been narrated in MS Word/Libre office writer using clip Art.

AIM: To create invitation for our school annual function.

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED
Using the Styles and Formatting & Insert Picture

➢ Open a New word document.

➢ Set the margin and select the type of sheet using page Layout Tab.

Insert Picture:

1. Click in the OpenOffice.org document where you want the image to appear.

2. Choose Insert Picture From File from the menu bar.


3. On the Insert Picture -> navigate to the file to be inserted, select it, and click Open.

4. Modify, resize, crop and delete an image.

RESULT: Thus, the invitation has been created using libre office writer writer.

Creating a new (custom) styles

AIM: To create a new styles in Libre office writer.

TOOLS REQUIRED:

❖ A computer with windows OS


❖ Ms office software (or) Libre office writer

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED

Creating a new style from a selection:

➢ Open the Styles and Formatting window and choose the type of style you
want to create.
➢ In the document, select the item you want to save as a style.
➢ In the Styles and Formatting window, click on the New Style from
Selection icon .
➢ In the Create Style dialog, type a name for the new style. The list shows the
names of existing custom styles of the selected type.
➢ Click OK to save the new style.

Dragging and dropping to create a style:

➢ Select some text and drag it to the Styles and Formatting window.
➢ Paragraph Styles -> the paragraph style will be added to the list.
➢ Character Styles -> the character style will be added to the list.

Updating a style from a selection:

➢ Open the Styles and Formatting window.


➢ In the document, select an item that has the format you want to adopt as a
style.
➢ In the Styles and Formatting window, select the style you want to update
(single-click, not double-click), then long-click on the arrow next to the New
Style from Selection icon and click on Update Style
Loading styles from a template or document:

➢ Open the document you want to copy styles into.


➢ In the Styles and Formatting window, long-click on the arrow next to the New
Style from Selection icon, and then click on Load Styles.
➢ On the Load Styles, find and select the template you want to copy styles from.
➢ Select the categories of styles to be copied. Select Overwrite if you want the
styles being copied to replace any styles of the same names in the document
you are copying them into.
➢ Click OK to copy the styles.

RESULT: Thus, the new styles has been created.

AIM: To create a student’s mark list in table format using Libre office writer.

TOOLS REQUIRED:

❖ A computer with windows OS


❖ Ms office software (or) Libre office writer

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED
a) Create a table
 Choose Table ->Insert ->Table option. This will display the Insert Table dialog box.
 Enter the number of rows and columns for the table in the number of columns
and the number of row boxes.
 Enter data in the column heading such as Student name, Subjects, marks etc.

b) Adding Images to a Table

1. Position the insertion point in any cell where you want the image to be added.

2. Click on the Clip art to select any image from there.

3. After selecting an image, click on Insert clip button to insert the image in that particular
area.

c) Inserting Rows, Columns and Cells

To insert a Column

1. Select the column beside where you want to insert a column.

2. Choose Table -> Insert from the menu.

3. Columns to the Left: Insert a column to the left of the currently selected column.

4. Columns to the Right: Insert a column to the right of the currently selected column.

To insert a Row

1. Select the row above or below where you want to insert a row.

2. Choose Table ->Insert from the menu.

3. Rows Above: Inserts a row above the currently selected column.

4. Rows Below: Inserts a row below the currently selected column


To insert a Cell

1. Select a cell at the location where you want to insert a cell.

2. Choose Table ->Insert ->Cells.

To delete Rows, columns or cells

▪ Choose Table >Delete >Column.


▪ Choose Table>Delete>Rows.
▪ Choose Table -->Delete-->Table.

Adding Images to a Table

1. Position the insertion point in any cell where you want the image to be added.

2. Click on the Clip art to select any image from there.

3. After selecting an image, click on Insert clip button to insert the image in that particular
area.

RESULT: Thus, the table has been created
