Education is an art of life which makes our life easy and better. We can also term education as
another form of knowledge. A child is born ignorant but he learns various skills and techniques, all are
different types of education.
Evidence of education in India can be seen from the Vedic period. In Hinduism, children used to
start their education when they were five years old, whereas in Buddhism they began their education at
the age of 8. It is an education that inspires us well and helps us to brighten our future.
Our mother is called our first teacher, she teaches us for day to day activities. Bookish knowledge
only applies to our tests, and we must have some practical knowledge to live a meaningful life.
Everything can be learned at home, at school or from anywhere. So, we can say that learning is
education and age should never be an obstacle in our learning.

Do you know where the most expensive house in the universe is located? Some might guess
Hollywood, where some of the richest and most famous movie stars have their homes. Others might
think of New York City, where a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan can cost more than a mansion in
the suburbs. But they would all be wrong, because this is a trick question. The most expensive house
isn’t even properly located on Earth. It’s the International Space Station (ISS), which is circling in orbit
above us right now. The cost to build this engineering marvel, which is roughly the size of a football
field, is around 150 billion dollars.
Many different governments cooperated in order to plan and build the ISS, including the USA,
Russia, Japan, Canada, and Europe. Creation began in 1998, after the countries decided to band together
and merge their space missions to create the ISS. Many countries used their spacecraft to deliver the
parts for the ISS, little by little, into space. First came the operating systems and hardware. Then, two
years later, a Russian rocket delivered the living quarters (complete with beds, toilets, and a kitchen)
that would make the ISS habitable for humans. Over time, more space missions to the ISS added new
parts to the space station that would make it easier for astronauts to come in and out of the station.

Hawaii is often considered to be one place in the world where you can find paradise. But when I
arrived in Hawaii, I was shocked to discover beaches were covered in plastic rubbish washed up
from around the world. As I dug through the sand, I realised the sandy beach was being transformed
into a plastic beach. A chill went down my spine.
From the beaches of Hawaii to the seas around Britain, we are polluting our own environment.
Beaches are now covered in more rubbish than ever before. The plastic we see on our beaches is just
a small amount of the plastic waste that exists in our oceans. Scientists believe that sea currents have
created five huge garbage areas in our oceans, including the one in the North Atlantic. This is a
global problem for which we are all responsible.
Plastic makes our life easier, but its production and use are completely out of control. Because
plastic rubbish in the oceans looks like food, it is being eaten by small fish, which in turn is eaten by
large fish, which in turn is eaten by us. Plastic is damaging our beaches, polluting the oceans, and
poisoning our food chain. The consequences are still not fully understood, but they are likely to be
terrible.

Why is the Internet so addicting? There are two reasons: information and freedom. People go
online to get information (music, news, stock prices, etc). Logging onto the Internet is like a kid
going to a toy store; there is so much to do and explore that once you get in, you never want to
leave. People also go online because the Internet offers freedom to do whatever they want, to say
whatever they want and to be whoever they want.
This could have a negative effect since people will act in certain ways and say certain things that
they otherwise wouldn't do in real life. Furthermore, because the internet offers so much freedom,
you can find your ideal self so much easier, but it's not the same as your social self. The
difference is due to you talking to a computer screen and you talking to a real person. Thus, the
experiences we encounter on the Internet are not the same as the ones we encounter in real life.
Even though our over use of the Internet can cause a conflict between your virtual self and your
social self, many still excessively rely on the Internet for their activities. As a result of
information and freedom, the Internet has become an unbreakable addiction for individuals and
society. Computers are as common as televisions in households; in addition, laptops and Internet-
ready cell phones enable the Internet to travel with us.

Educating children at home as an alternative to formal education is an option chosen by families
in many parts of the world. The homeschooling movement is popular in the United States, where
close to one million children are educated at home. In Canada, one percent of school-age children
are homeschooled, and the idea also enjoys growing popularity in Australia, where 20,000
families homeschool their children. The movement is not limited to these countries.
Homeschooling families can be found all over the world, from Japan to Taiwan to Argentina to
South Africa.
Homeschooling is not a novel idea. The idea of sending children to spend most of their day away
from home at a formal school is a relatively new custom. In the United States, for example, it was
not until the latter part of the nineteenth century that state governments began making school
attendance compulsory. Before that, the concept of formal education was not so widespread.
Children learned the skills they would need for adult life at home from tutors or their parents,
through formal instruction or by working side by side with the adults of the family.
In the modern developed world, where the vast majority of children attend school, families
choose homeschooling for a variety of reasons. For people who live in remote areas, such as the
Australian Outback or the Alaskan Wilderness, homeschooling may be their only option.
Children who have exceptional talents in the arts or other areas may be homeschooled so that
they have more time to devote to their special interests. Much of the homeschooling movement is
made up of families who, for various reasons, are dissatisfied with the schools available to them.
They may have a differing educational philosophy, they may be concerned about the safety of the
school environment, or they may feel that the local schools cannot adequately address their
children's educational needs. Although most families continue to choose a traditional classroom
education for their children, homeschooling as an alternative educational option is becoming more
popular.

Arriving in Freiburg by train, you might notice the solar panelled towers of the station building.
With 1,800 hours of sunshine per year, solar power is the main source of energy in Freiburg,
making it one of the most ecologically friendly cities in the world. In fact, some say that Freiburg
generates nearly as much solar power as the whole of the UK.
In Freiburg it all began in the 1970s, when local people were strongly against plans for a nuclear
power station nearby. The historic centre has been car-free since 1973, with over 400 km of cycle
paths! However, it is the modern residential districts on the outskirts which most interest
environmentalists. In the area called Rieselfeld, residents live in small blocks of south-facing flats
called ‘passive houses’. The design of these houses keeps them warm or cool, without needing
central heating or air conditioning at all. Vauban is another quiet area, with solar panels
everywhere and a large number of passive houses. It’s a safe, clean area. It’s busy, but with
people and bicycles instead of vehicles. Officially, only one person in four has a car and it costs
around 18,000 euros a year to keep one outside town, in a 'solar-garage'.
In Freiburg, being green is part of the economy, and local people buy shares in different green
projects, for example the solar football stadium. Not surprisingly, this remarkable eco-city has
won many awards and other German cities are now competing to become more eco-friendly. So
why aren't more countries around the world doing the same?

Sean O'Brien knew that people sometimes mocked him for being overweight, and he was usually
able to shrug it off. But this time, as well as laughing at him in person, someone decided to
publicly fat-shame him by posting a video of him dancing online, with a hurtful comment. Sean
was completely unaware of it, but the post about him was shared widely, and it prompted a wave
of abuse from immature Internet trolls.
However, as well as the cyberbullies, other people were watching. A group of women in
California, who were campaigning to encourage people to have a positive body image whatever
their size, decided to take action. They put out a message on Twitter, inviting Sean on an all-
expenses- paid trip from London to Los Angeles, to meet and dance with them. When Sean's
friends first told him about the search for 'dancing man', he figured it was a bit of nonsense which
would soon blow over, and decided not to bother doing anything about it.
But the movement got bigger and bigger. Sean rethought his decision, made contact, and the
women - all 1,700 of them - started raising money to throw him an extra-special party in LA. He
went to the party in California. Sean danced all night and the story of how he and the women's
group in California took a stance against cyberbullying was reported around the world.
Sean certainly had the last laugh. We are often told that the best idea is not to give bullies any
attention, but it may be that the best way to deal with cyberbullying is to act as these women did
and be brave enough to make it clear that we are uncomfortable with this kind of behaviour, that
we disagree with what is being said and that bullying is completely unacceptable.
