• Transfer System
From storage tank to settling tank by transfer pump.
• Feed System
From settling tank to service tank/day tank by feed pump.
• Supply System
From service tank/day tank to engine by booster pump.
• Circulating System
To circulate the fuel oil when engine is off or when flushing and
starting.
Fuel oil system component:

• Storage tank
Ø Is the storage tank of overall fuel required by
ME and AE during the ship to operate. Usually
located in double bottom.
Ø Vol. storage tank = SFOC x P x T (endurance) / ρ

• Settling tank
Ø Is a tank that is used to precipitate fuel, so that
the sludge (dirty oil) settles. Usually for 24
hours. The number of tank usually 2 units.
Usually located in platform (wing tank).
Ø Vol. settling tank = SFOC x P x T (settling) / ρ

• Service tank
Ø Is a tank used to supplay fuel to the engine.
Usually for 8 hours operation (according to
engine manual book). Usually located in
platform (wing tank).
Ø Vol. service tank = SFOC x P x T (service) / ρ
