Marikeños are indeed fortunate or should I say lucky
because we have a leader like Mayor Marcy Teodoro who is very
hardworking and always seeks to help people especially in this
time of pandemic. This Covid-19 pandemic is widespread, and
many people are infected around the world. He never stopped
looking for ways to make sure that we Marikeños are safe and
doing well. As Covid-19 threatens and makes a lot of people feel
the fear of being not sure of what will happen in their families’
lives in the next days to come, our mayor and his people never
stopped reaching out to those who are in need of help and
assistance from the government. Our national government is
determined and will surely do everything to win over this
pandemic. We can be sure that we have a good leader in our city
who is guided and empowered by our God in heaven. So, let us
continue and never stop praying for all the leaders in our
country.

Lesson Identify and Use Personal Pronouns in
1 Sentences

What’s In

In one of the previous modules which you have studied, you

learned about nouns, its meaning and use in sentences. You knew that
nouns are names of people (dentist, teacher, student, mother, Carla,
John, etc.), places (Marikina, Philippines, school, mall, bookstore,
bedroom, etc.), things (shoes, pencil, ballpen, cellphone, clothes, etc.),
animals (cat, dog, fish, Brownie the dog, carabao, etc.), and events (All
Saints Day, All Souls Day, birthday, Christmas, etc.). You also learned
that nouns are used as subjects or the ones being talked about in
sentences.

In this module, you will learn about the words that we can use to
replace nouns in sentences, so that we will not keep on using the same
noun many times in a sentence or paragraph.

eat properly anymore because all she wants is to play games. One day,
she experienced headache and stomachache that she could not move or
even stand anymore. She cried and cried because of so much pain. And
so, her father brought her to Dr. Patrick. And when they arrived at the
clinic, Dr. Patrick asked Carla if she exercises and eats healthy food. Her
father said: “No doctor, all she does is play and eat junk food whenever
I am at work and she is alone at home.” And after listening to Carla’s
father, he told Carla to start eating healthy food and lessen the use of
cellphone or any gadget because it is bad for her body. He also said that
growing kids should take care of their bodies by exercising and eating
healthy food. It is because their bodies need proper nutrients and
exercise which will make them bigger, stronger, and healthier.

What Is It

PERSONAL PRONOUNS are words used in place of nouns in

sentences.

Study this chart that contains the list of Personal Pronouns:

PERSONAL PRONOUNS

SINGULAR (1) (2 OR MORE)
GENDER Used to replace a Used to replace a
noun that refers to noun that refers to
only one person, 2 or more people,

animal, or event animals, or events
GIRL I, me, she, her, you
BOY I, me, he, him, you they, them, we, us,
GENERAL/THING/PL it, you you
ACE

EXAMPLES:

1. Maria is a beautiful girl. = She is a beautiful girl.

***since the name “Maria” is a name of a girl, we choose from
personal pronouns used to replace girl names. So, in this sentence
pronoun “she” was used.

2. My father knows a lot about fixing things. = He knows a lot about

fixing things.
***in this example we know that “father” is used to refer to

3. Jerico and his sister loves jogging. = They love jogging.
***in this example, we have two nouns which are underlined:
“Jerico and his sister”. You have to remember that when a noun in
a sentence refers to two or more people, places, things, events, or
animals, you have to choose from the list of pronouns used for
plural nouns. In this instance “Jerico and his sister” are
two/plural, which is why the pronoun “they” is used.
