Raffy Tulfo in action: A new platform to achieve justice

I. Preposition

Rafael Teshiba Tulfo known as "Raffy" is a Filipino broadcast journalist, TV and radio host. He work as a
public servant that mainly focuses on government affairs and private sectors. He is a known defendant of the poor
and a saviour of the powerless and marginalized people. Raffy Tulfo in Action is a show hosted by Raffy Tulfo and
Sharee Roman, it is developed originally by News 5. The show investigates and exposes cases of abuse,
dishonesty, exploitation, and family disputes. The most common feature of the show is Sumbong at Aksyon where
complainants tell Tulfo about their situation and seek assistance to resolve it.

II. Facts

There's an episode wherein a Flight Attendant Princess Analyn Mangalino raise complaint against husband
Flight Instructor Eduardo Mangalino Jr, it was also revealed how Eduardo hurt his wife apart from the breastmilk
related misunderstanding which Princess narrated in the initial video.

According to the wife, her husband likes to pull her hair when he is in anguish. She kept everything in
secret as she hopes that their relationship will go back to normal.

At that point, idol Raffy called one of his staff so that the complainant can demonstrate how Eduardo hurt
her. The husband also admitted his mistake. “Inamin ko po sa pulis, inamin ko po sa barangayu na nasabunutan ko
po siya,” said Eduardo.

Princess is now ready to file a case against Eduardo and the show host promised his full support.

In one of the latest episodes of “Raffy Tulfo in Action,” a grandmother and two parents went on the
program to complain about a teacher who was allegedly maltreating their child.

CCTV footage showed teacher Melita Limjuco forcing the Grade 2 student to sit outside the classroom as
punishment for not bringing his report card. The student, who sat outside for one whole period, eventually drew
attention from passersby – parents and fellow students alike – which the grandmother said must have been
humiliating for her grandson.
 Asked what she wanted as a consequence for the teacher, Rosemil Edroso, the mother, said: “Ayaw ko
namang ipakulong siya. Magpahinga na lang siya. Mawalan siya ng lisensiya (I don't want to send her to jail. She
should rest instead, and have her license revoked).” The father agreed.

Tulfo then asked the teacher over a phone call, aired on the program, if she would rather have the issue
brought to court, or agree to have her license revoked. “Iyon na lang pong desisyon ng father at mother (I'll go
with the father and mother's decision),” the teacher responded.

The end result did not sit well with netizens and sparked outrage on social media. #JusticeForTeachers and
#Tulfo trended on Twitter Friday, November 22, drawing more attention to the issue. Netizens lamented that the
teacher was not given the due process that she rightfully deserved.

III. Ruling

As per the first evidence, the wife file a case against her husband because he have the witness who’ll speak
for her at the court and Mr RAffy Tulfo who’ll assist and support her with her needs during the process. This just
prove that the show “Raffy Tulfo in Action” is one of the most famous to propagate the justice and know the truth
nothing but the truth. This program is willing to help many people as long as the person who has complained is
correct and have something to do with justice or wanting to get the justice.

For the second evidence, the teacher is wrong for punishing the student and let him sit outside the
classroom for not bringing his report card. As this issue gained attention by the citizen who passed by and his
fellow students because they believe that it may humiliate him, others also believe that the teacher who did that
didn’t receive the right process for punishing her that she also deserves. This just prove that the people also have
their insights about the matter that might cause the netizens to go against the show. The show “Raffy Tulfo in
Action” may have unfair decisions but it still have the impact that the decision is still to be followed.

IV. CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the show "Raffy Tulfo in Action" shows that he is the only person in our country that fight for
the justice of the citizens that people deserves the justice that they should get, no rich nor poor. That is why many
people admired him because he always take an action and fulfill his duty in fighting for it. He is even more
impressed his audience because you see in his actions that he is really ready to serve his citizens and get the
justice they deserve even though it's always see in a harsh way. It is support by John Rawls (b. 1921, d. 2002), an
American political philosopher in the liberal tradition. His theory of justice as fairness describes a society of free
citizens holding equal basic rights and cooperating within an egalitarian economic system. His theory of political
liberalism delineates the legitimate use of political power in a democracy, and envisions how civic unity might
endure despite the diversity of worldviews that free institutions allow. His writings on the law of peoples set out a
liberal foreign policy that aims to create a permanently peaceful and tolerant international order.

But there's no perfect person, there are sometimes that we do an actions that is already beyond our limits
and due to our power in society. We thought that we are always right to the point that we judge the people just
because of bad action we saw on that person and decided what penalty they should give to that person. It is
support by Franz Brentano (1838–1917) a famous for arguing in his Psychology from an Empirical Standpoint
(1874) that intentionality—being directed toward something—is the mark of the mental. In Judgement and Truth;
Brentano himself says: By “judgement” we mean, in accordance with common philosophical usage, acceptance
[annehmen] (as true) or rejection [verwerfen] (as false). Brentano acknowledges that “accepting as true” or
“rejecting as false” is the natural way to describe an act of judgement (PES 201 [II 38; SVS 1, 223]). Brentano would
contest this by saying that their point only concerns the linguistic expression of our judgements, not the
judgements themselves. We can find for each judgement a sentence that is true if and only if the judgement
expressed in it is correct, but that does not show that the judgement itself always has a positive quality.

VI. Suggestion

On the first issue which is about the flight attendant, it would be justifiable if the case would just be
bought to the court since physical abuse and harassment has been done on the complainant. For the second issue
which is about the teacher, it would be better if the complainant just went to the head of the school first before
announcing the problem publicly, the issue would probably be settled by the head of the school instead of
removing the teacher’s license immediately. Raffy Tulfo in action is a good show and it helped a lot of people
solve their problems but we also have a justice system that people can run to if they have big issues and problems.
If the problem cannot be solved with having personal talk or agreement anymore then perhaps if the problem is
that big the complainants can file a case without publicizing the matter. Publicizing problems can cause a larger
delay and distractions and it can affect the persons involved in a larger way since a huge number of people have
their own opinions on how to deal with the problem and it results in a huge chaos.
