CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN ECONOMICS, MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS

Introduction

The 7th International Conference on Contemporary Issues in Economics, Management and


Business (7th CIEMB 2024) will be joinly organized by National Economics University (NEU) and
Australian National University (ANU) in Hanoi, Vietnam. The aim of the conference is to create
a forum for scholars from different academic fields of economics, business and management to
exchange and present their research. The conference will provide a platform for debates on
contemporary issues of aforementioned fields, supporting strategies to stimulate sustainable
worldwide growth and development.

All full papers will be issued in the conference proceedings with ISBN.

Keynote Speakers

Prof. Paul Burke, Australian National University, Australia


Prof. Paul Burke is Head of the Arndt-Corden Department of Economics and
Deputy Director of the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National
University. His research is in energy and environmental economics, with a
focus on the Asia-Pacific. He leads the Energy Economics and Policy
research cluster of the ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster
Solutions. He is on the Executive Committee for the Australasian
Development Economics Workshop.
Prof. Paul Burke has published in journals including the American Economic
Journal, Macroeconomics, Economic Inquiry, Nature Geoscience, Nature
Climate Change, Energy, and Global Environmental Change. His ongoing
research topics include electric vehicle adoption, residential electrification,
small hydropower in Indonesia, and thermal coal phase-out in South-East
Asia.

Prof. Sushanta Kumar Mallick, Queen Mary University of London, the UK


Sushanta Mallick is a Professor of International Finance at the School of
Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London, UK. Since
January 2015, he has been the Co-editor-in-Chief of ‘Economic Modelling’ –
a leading 40-year-old scholarly journal published by Elsevier. He also acts as
a co-editor of ‘Economic Analysis and Policy’ (a 54-year-old journal of ‘the
Economic Society of Australia’).
He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Warwick, UK. He has
published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals, focused on
issues in the areas of international economics, banking & finance, and
innovation & development. As per IDEAS/RePEc ranking, he is among the
top 5% economists. He has over 6000 google scholar citations with a h-index
of 45. His work has been published in journals such as: British Journal of
Management, Research Policy, Economic Theory, European Journal of
Operational Research, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Economic
Behavior & Organization, Industrial Relations, British Journal of Industrial
Relations, Journal of Banking & Finance, Oxford Bulletin of Economics &
Statistics, IMF Economic Review, Cambridge Journal of Economics, Journal
of International Money and Finance, World Development, and many
others.

Dr. Peter J. Morgan, ADB Institute


Peter Morgan joined the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) as a
senior consultant for research in December 2008 and currently also serves
as Advisor to the Dean. He earned his MA and PhD in economics from Yale
University. He previously served as ADBI’s Vice-Chair of Research until
March 2022. He also worked in Hong Kong, China as Chief Asia Economist
for HSBC where he was responsible for macroeconomic analysis and
forecasting for Asia. Before that, he was Chief Japan Economist for HSBC
and held comparable positions at Merrill Lynch, Barclays de Zoete Wedd,
and Jardine Fleming. Prior to entering the financial industry, he worked as a
consultant for Meta Systems Inc in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the United
States specializing in energy and environmental areas, including energy
policy issues in Asian countries.
His research focuses are macroeconomic policy and financial sector
regulation, reform, financial development, financial inclusion, fintech,
financial literacy, and financial education. His recent publications include
Fintech and Financial Inclusion in Southeast Asia and India and Impacts of
COVID-19 on Households in ASEAN Countries and Their Implications for
Human Capital Development.

The 7th CIEMB 2024 will be held in National Economics University, 207 Giai Phong Street, Hai Ba
Trung District, Hanoi, Vietnam.

Submission

Full submitted papers must be in English, from 5000 to 10,000 words including references with
title of the paper, authors’ names, e-mail addresses and affiliations. Prospective authors will
submit their full papers to the email address: [email protected] by August 16, 2024. Detailed

Registration Fee

The registration fee will include a welcome reception gathering, attending keynote speeches and
all sessions, conference proceedings, certificates of presentation, lunch and gala dinner for 01
Author. At least one author of each paper must pay the registration fee.
