The purpose of this document is to provide answers to commonly asked questions related to Cloud test, demo,
and development for SAP S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape (8012331).

Introduction

Q: When should I use this environment?

A: The Cloud test, demo, and development for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, one-system landscape is intended for
partner organizations that sell (resell or Cloud Choice Flex) and implement the SAP S/4HANA Cloud service to
1) demonstrate SAP S/4HANA Cloud,
2) evaluate new scope items and add-ons,
3) utilize the available key-user and developer extensibility experience and
4) educate in-house consultants.
Secondary, this instance could be used by Independent Software Vendors to configure and test the
interoperability with their solutions developed on the SAP Business Technology Platform, or 3rd-party Cloud
Platform and the embedded SAP S/4HANA Cloud, ABAP environment.
This test, demo, and development system is supported by standard SLA and Enterprise support, Cloud edition.

Q: Where can I find more details about SAP S/4HANA Cloud – Trial, Test, and Demo

Q: How do I place an order?

A: The ordering process of the Cloud test, demo, and development for SAP S/4HANA Cloud – one-system
landscape is similar to any other test, demonstration, and development service.
Non-Commercial Licensing (NCL) (formerly known as SAP Partner Licensing Services) offers an end-to-end
service portfolio for non-commercial licenses, such as test, demonstration, and development licenses, free tier
for SAP Business Technology Platform, and more, for SAP Cloud and on-premise solutions to all SAP partners
with a valid partnership.

Provisioning / Onboarding

Q: What happens after the subscription order has been placed?

A: In the past, SAP used to automatically provision the tenants you subscribed for. Since the new Cloud test,
demo, and development for SAP S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape comes with multiple systems and
tenants, the provisioning process had to be adjusted – it is a multi-step process.
Your subscription gives you the entitlement for the following components:
• SAP S/4HANA Cloud system with two tenants
• SAP Central Business Configuration (CBC)
• SAP Cloud Application Lifecycle Management (CALM), and
• SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
To set up your environment it is important you proceed with the provisioning process which includes multiple
steps. You must use SAP for Me (for customer) where you will find your entitlements.
Please note, that by default, SAP for Me grants view and edit rights only to the person who placed the
subscription order with SAP Non-Commercial Licensing (NCL). If you want other users within your organization
(e.g., Technical Administrator) to process entitlements in SAP for Me, you need to grant right to them first.

Please note, that SAP is not automatically provisioning the entitlements (except the SAP Business Technology
Platform), you need to initiate that by following these steps:

In SAP for Me, go to “Systems & Provisioning” -> “Cloud Delivery” -> “Products Available for Provisioning” to
start provisioning the following components (in the listed order!) by clicking “Start Provisioning” button:
1. SAP Central Business Configuration
The provisioning might take some time – it could take up to 48 hours, so check once status is set to
“Provided” in section “Provisioning Status”. Proceed with the next step only when the status shows
“Provided”.
2. SAP S/4HANA Cloud (2 tenants provisioned with 1 click)
3. SAP Cloud ALM (optional, any time)
4. SAP Business Technology Platform (optional, any time)

Q: What to do if I did not receive the IAS hand-over email?

A: You might already have SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS) and SAP Identity Provisioning (IPS) as part
of the SAP Cloud Identity Management. In this case, the IAS and IPS tenants are not provisioned again. Your
S/4HANA Cloud tenants will be integrated to the existing IPS tenants, and you will not receive the described
hand-over email.

 You can use the following “SAP helper app” to check for your existing tenants – it requires an SAP S-
User to determine your logical partner entity to derive tenant and stored administrator information.

In case of technical issues with SAP IAS and IPS, please create a support ticket under SAP support
component “BC-IAM-IDS”.

Q: What do I have to do after my subscription entitlements are provisioned?

A: Once your subscription entitlements are provisioned, you will need to follow a series of steps to setup your
test, demo, and development environment. Neither the SAP Central Business Configuration, nor the SAP
S/4HANA Cloud tenants contain any users, customization, or data.
You will need to follow the relevant SAP Activate Roadmap to setup your system. Setting up your SAP Central
Business Configuration and SAP S/4HANA Cloud tenants requires a series of activities, such as, replicating the
admin user and additional users from SAP Cloud Identity (Identity Authentication Service), creating SAP Central
Business Configuration projects for both SAP S/4HANA Cloud tenants, scoping your solution, setting up the
organizational structure and activating the selected scope.

Afterwards, you can onboard additional SAP S/4HANA Cloud business users. Keep it in mind, that while
managing users in SAP Central Business Configuration and SAP CALM is done via SAP IAS and SAP IPS, in
SAP S/4HANA Cloud, there is an additional step involved. You will need to create first Employees in SAP
S/4HANA Cloud.

Q: Does my system come with sample demo data?

A: During the process of assigning a deployment target (your SAP S/4HANA Cloud tenant) in SAP Central
Business Configuration, you can decide if you want your selected scope to be activated with sample demo data.
This decision can be done only once and cannot be reversed. If you have already activated the scope in your
SAP S/4HANA Cloud tenant without selecting the demo data option, there is no possibility to repeat the
activation with demo data. In such case, no additional scope can be activated with demo data in the same
deployment target either. The selection to go with or without demo data is possible per deployment target. You
can choose to activate a scope with demo data for one deployment target and without for another.
In the case, you had already activated a scope without demo data in both of your SAP S/4HANA Cloud tenants,
you need to subscribe to a new license which will give you a new entitlement you can provision.
Demo data is available for all the SAP S/4HANA Cloud country versions.
Please note, that demo data is created automatically only for those scope items which are part of the SAP
S/4HANA Cloud – Enterprise Management scope bundle.
Please note, some additional manual steps are required to achieve lifecycle enablement of the demo data. This
ensures consistency of the demo data when an upgrade or update to a higher release or patch level is
performed.
 In order to perform the required manual steps, please follow the guide attached to this SAP Note

Demo data can be created also manually, using the respective SAP Fiori apps in your SAP S/4HANA Cloud
system. An overview of the demo master data by Scope Item is provided in the Master data overview excel:

Another way to create master data is to use Data Migration Template samples. There are Migration Cockpit
template files prefilled with sample data that you can use as an example.

Q: Can I extend my configuration with additional country versions and organizational

units?
A: During the initial activation of your scope with sample demo data, the first organizational structure is created
automatically. The keys used to create the organizational units are defined by the SAP Best Practices
configuration and cannot be changed. After the initial activation, you can always extend the configuration with
additional country versions and/or additional organizational units. However, you must use the country keys
predefined by SAP Best Practices for each country version. The following restrictions apply:

 1. For country-specific organizational units:
Use the country prefix of the country for which you are creating the organizational unit. For example, if you are
creating an additional Company Code for Germany, use the 10XX template where 10 means Germany and XX
can be replaced by any alphabetical character.
2. For country-independent organizational units:
For any country-independent organization units, for example the Distribution Channel or Division, you can use
any alphanumeric character. For other units such as the Purchase Organization, use the same rule as for
country-specific organizational units.

Q: I copied the business role BR_DEVELOPER to my own role, but I can’t develop with
SAP ABAP Development Tools, e.g., no authorization to create packages – what’s
wrong?
A: The copy of the business role BR_DEVELOPER does leave the access categories in default values, so you
need to change the values according to your authorization approach, e.g., <Unrestricted> for <Write, Read,
Value Help>. For more details, please see the relevant SAP Help documentation:

Q: The SAP Cloud Application Lifecycle Management (CALM) tenant has been
deployed and can be accessed by the administrator user, however, it does not show in
the SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS), where all the other SAP S/4HANA Cloud
– one-system landscape bundle applications are visible.
A: By default, the SAP CALM tenant is registered with a productive SAP IAS tenant. You have probably had
already a productive SAP IAS tenant, and the SAP CALM tenant was registered with it. It was not registered with
the SAP IAS tenant provisioned as part of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape bundle.
You can review your available SAP IAS tenants in this application:

Q: What to consider when activating the Landscape Portal for SAP S/4HANA Cloud,
ABAP environment included with the Cloud test, demo, and development for SAP
S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape subscription?
A: The Landscape Portal for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, ABAP environment is an entitlement in the SAP Business
Technology Platform global account, which comes with the Cloud test, demo, and development for SAP
S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape subscription.
You may also have the entitlement for the Landscape Portal for SAP Business Technology Platform, ABAP
environment via a separate SAP Business Technology platform, ABAP environment subscription. In that case, it
is essential that when activating the Landscape Portal, you choose the right one.
To use the Landscape Portal for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, ABAP environment with the Cloud test, demo, and
development for SAP S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape, you must select the Landscape Portal for SAP
S/4HANA Cloud, ABAP environment.

Q: Which localizations are currently available?

A: The Cloud test, demo, and development for SAP S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape environment is
delivered without any pre-activated localization. You can activate any localization and any language that is
available in SAP S/4HANA Cloud. The SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, currently supports 48 local versions
and 32 languages. Please refer to the Provisioning / Onboarding section, and to the relevant SAP Activate
Roadmap to find the instructions.

Q: Can I create a local version for countries or regions that are not offered by SAP?
A: You can create a local version, that is not offered by SAP, via the Configuration Localization Tool (CLT) that
is part of the “Localization as a self-service for SAP S/4HANA Cloud”.
Configuration Localization Tool (CLT) is available to SAP customers participating in Early Adoption Program. If
you are working with an Early Adopter, you can use CLT with your Cloud test, demo, and development for SAP
S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape environment, without any additional fee.
You can create a customer local version using Configuration Localization Tool (CLT) by copying the reference
content from a source local version. Currently, only “Germany” local version can be used as the source local
version.
CLT is a feature of the SAP Central Business Configuration, and it is included in your Cloud test, demo, and
development for SAP S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape subscription. You can request the activation of
this feature by raising a support ticket under the component X4-CBC-OOL. Please include the SID / Tenant ID of
your Cloud test, demo, and development for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, one-system landscape to ensure a fast
activation. Please remember that the activation CBC CLT in the Cloud test, demo, and development for SAP
S/4HANA Cloud – one-system landscape cannot be reversed.
Please note, that if you have activated any country or region scope with sample demo data, you cannot use the
Configuration Localization Tool (CLT) in your SAP S/4HANA Cloud demo tenant.
Once you created a customer local version, you can use the “Localization as a self-service for SAP S/4HANA
Cloud” to adjust your new local version to comply with legal regulations such as local financial reporting
standards, legal frameworks, tax calculations, customs forms, payment formats, electronic document exchange,
statutory reporting requirement, etc.

Q: Which scope items can I activate?

A: All standard scope items included can be activated. Non-standard scope items can be requested via support
tickets on SAP ONE Support Launchpad using component “XX-S4C-OPR-SRV”.

Q: How do I know what SAP Fiori Apps are available in my demo environment and in
what Scope Items they are used?
A: All the information related to available SAP Fiori Apps you can find in the SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library.
There, there you can also find the respective Business Catalogs and Business Roles used.

In the SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library, by selecting “All apps”, you can switch to a “List view” and filter to SAP
S/4HANA Cloud (Product Suite). There you can see all the available SAP Fiori Apps. By adjusting the “Column
display settings”, you can also add information on Scope Items, Business Catalogs, Business Roles etc.

Q. Can I activate Public Sector Industry-specific content in my demo tenant?

A: Yes, during the CBC based scoping process you have the option of activating Public Sector Industry-specific
content. This is specific to the US localization only.

Q: Are the 100 users (SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Advanced use) included named or
concurrent?
A: The 100 users included are named users. In the Cloud test, demo, and development for SAP S/4HANA Cloud
– one-system landscape, we do not use the Full User Equivalent (FUE) concept. The FUE concept is used in
customer subscriptions.

Q: Can I use the system with more than 100 users?

A: No, it is not permitted to use the system with more than 100 named users.

Q: Is this an SAP S/4HANA Cloud 3-system landscape and do I receive 3 systems as

part of this subscription offering?
A: No, this subscription offering provides one system only with two clients (tenants). Upgrades are applied to this
environment and cannot be tested before the upgrade is deployed. Please ensure you incorporate this into your
upgrade planning.

Q: Does the system offer partners to request specific 'expert configurations'?

A: No, this service is not available in the partner test, demo, and development system. We want to showcase the
(relative) simplicity of deploying a cloud solution using best practices. Expert configuration is meant for specific,
exceptional configurations in the implementation phase of customer projects. In addition, if expert configurations
were to be applied, SAP can’t guarantee the integrity of this specific system for future patches and upgrades.
SAP intends to reduce the need to use expert configuration to a minimum in the future.

A: A separation of Key User and Developer persona is an elementary part of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud
Extensibility architecture. Key User roles are available within the Business Customizing tenant while Developer
roles are within the Development tenant only.

Q: Does the system provide a way to clean/refresh the system

A: This cloud service does not provide an option to clean the data. Partners are responsible to maintain the data
and integrity of the system so that future patches and upgrades can be executed.

Q: I experience performance issues while using the provided system landscape. What
can I do to improve the performance?
A: Performance issue are quite often related to having too many user roles assigned. In such situation, we
recommend using SAP Fiori spaces. For further details, you can read the following blogs:
