About My Little Moppet
My Little Moppet is a leading parenting blog that caters to the needs of urban Moms. Unlike previous
generations, most Moms today live away from extended family and thus don’t have access to
traditional wisdom and support. My Little Moppet hopes to fill that gap by providing appropriate
guidance and by quelling the concerns of new parents. From healthy recipes to seasonal care tips, from
potty training to the Montessori Method, My Little Moppet covers a wide range of parenting topics. The
blog puts a strong emphasis on parenting tips based on scientific facts, at the same time including the
best of traditional wisdom.
Over the past few years, My Little Moppet has grown to become a supportive group of mothers, and
has also expanded to include a health food store named Little Moppet Foods. We have an active
community on Facebook, where Moms are free to post their doubts and get instant responses.
Frequent giveaways, contests and training courses add value to our readers and followers.

Chapter 1: Introduction
Being a Mom is a lot like playing Musical Chairs. No sooner have you found your seat then
you have to be up and running again. As soon as you find the solution to one parenting
problem, another one crops up! However, one problem every Mom has at some point or
the other is regarding her child’s weight. We live in a country where being chubby is seen as
a sign of good health and prosperity. Unfortunately, the rising number of statistics proves
otherwise. An unhealthy obsession with weight gain is linked to increasing childhood
obesity, especially in urban areas.
Yet, when you hear someone randomly remark that your child looks skinny, it can sting!
Being our baby’s first source of nourishment, we Moms tend to take such remarks
personally. We immediately launch into a mental tirade against ourselves, wondering what
we did wrong. The result of this exercise is a stressed-out Mom who is unable to enjoy this
precious stage in her life.
And that is exactly what we aim to fix with this eBook. I have been in the same boat, and
being a doctor, I beat myself up a little more – after all, I’m supposed to know all about
health and nutrition, right? But my experience with several Moms and with my own kids
has shown that we often worry too much! If you’re like me, you’ll find that this eBook
answers all your questions about weight gain in children. If your child does indeed have
poor weight gain, we have several recipes for you to try. If your child does indeed have poor
weight gain we have several food recipes to tackle this issue - right from weaning babies to
school going kids. So whichever age you’re dealing with, you’ll find something you like here.
