between devices.

Course work description

Part 01
You are requested to develop a network for a sales and marketing agency in Kurunegala city. It
has been identified that to make communication and networking effective you need to create a
subnet for each department supporting the following device count.
• Sales Department 50 devices
• Admin Department 12 devices
• HR department 10 devices
Assuming the IP address allocated for the organization is 192.168.1.0/21, determine network
addresses, subnet masks, and broadcast addresses for each department network.

Part 02
Set up a network with a router, switch, multiple PCs, laptops, a DHCP server, and a web server.
Use appropriate connection types. Use the following devices to demonstrate the network.
• Router (R1)
• Switches (S1, S2, S3) for each department
• DHCP Server to manage IP addresses of Sales department.
• Web Server for sales department.
• 5 Laptops for Sales department.
• 3 PCs for the admin department.
• 3 PCs for the HR department
Part 03
Assign IP addresses for the devices and their interfaces on the network based on the following
guide.
• Router(R1)
Network Interface IP address
FastEthernet0/0 First IP of Sales Department
FastEthernet1/0 First IP of Admin Department
FastEthernet4/0 First IP of HR Department
• DHCP Server – Second IP of sales Department.
• Web Server – Third IP of sales Department.
• Laptops in sales department – Dynamic IP address assignment using DHCP server.
• 3 PCs for admin department – Any available IP addresses from admin department.
• 3 PCs for HR department – Any available IP addresses from HR department.
Use Ping Command and simulation mode to test the connectivity between devices.

Part 04
• Discuss how you can improve the security of the network.
