ENGLISH PREPOSITIONS

FORM:
As preposicións son un tipo de palabra que indica unha relación entre substantives, pronomes e outros tipos de palabras dentro dunha
oración. Nunca cambian a súa forma.
Habitualmente van situadas diante de substantivos, pronomes ou xerundios (-ing), The book is on the table, pero tamén poden ira o final
dunha oración interrogativa ou relativa, si se omite o pronome relativo:
ℵ Where are you from? – oración interrogativa
ℵ The boy I’m talking about. – oración relativa co pronome relativo elidido

Prepositions of place
Diferenza entre 'at', 'in' e 'on' (EN)
'At' refírese á posición nun punto determinado, mentres que 'in' implica a posición dentro de algo e 'on' sobre algo.

Máis baixo que. Diferenza entre 'below' e 'under' (ambos significan 'por
debaixo de'): Below implica un nivel inferior ao que se fai referencia, non
é contiguo, mientres que 'under' implica unha mayor proximidade

by pegado a. Emprégase tamén by car/train/taxi/plane/bus/bicycle… He lives in the house by the river. Tamén en coche/tren/avión…
close to cerca de Our house is close to the supermarket.
in front of diante de, na mesma dirección Our house is in front of the supermarket.
inside dentro You shouldn't stay inside the castle.
Near to cerca Our house is near the supermarket.
next to Reside (cerca) Our house is next to the supermarket.
off lonxe de The cat jumped off the roof.
opposite enfronte Our house is opposite the supermarket.
outside fóra Can you wait outside?
