    APS “AMICI PER LA MUSICA”

    presents
    THE 11TH EDITION OF THE LUIGI NONO COMPOSITION PRIZE

    The winner will receive a 1200,00 Euro prize and a commission for a new piece,
    written for the winner of the “Premio Musica Contemporanea”
    of the “Luigi Nono International Chamber Music Competition” 2024

    Purpose of the prize is to promote contemporary chamber music and to create opportunities for
    composers and performers to meet.

    RULES AND DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS

    ► The Call for Scores is open to composers of any age and nationality up to 40 years old
    (born in 1984 or later)

    ► Scores must be sent within July, 31st, 2024 at midnight (UTC/GMT+1), along with
    the application form duly and fully filled out to the following e-mail address:

    IT’S MANDATORY TO BE A MEMEBRSHIP OF ASS. AMICI PER LAMUSICA TO APPLY FOR


    THE COMPETTION.
    IN CASE OF WITHDRAWAL OF PARTICIPATION, THE MEMBERSHIP FEE (€ 30)
    CANNOT BE REFUNDED.
    ► Applications must be sent only by e-mail and must strictly include:

    1. 2 (two) scores enclosed to the e-mail, in PDF format. The composer’s name and any other
    identifying information must be removed. Scores with visible names will be rejected.
    The two scores can be either for solo instrument or chamber group (max 15 elements);
    electronic instrumentation is allowed. Scores can be either both for one instrument, or both for
    ensemble, or mixed, and can be written in any style and aesthetic. Duration for each score should
    be 5-15 minutes. Pieces can have already been performed and can have already been awarded a
    prize.
    2. The MP3 (or Midi) recording of at least one of the pieces.
    3. The filled in and signed application form.
    4. The receipt of the contribution for management of competition: € 35,00 (non-refundable) to
    be paid to APS “Amici per la Musica” to be paid:

    The amount includes € 30 (membership fee to Ass. Amici per la Musica) + € 5 (contribution for

    Amici per la Musica + (contribution for competition organization. Payment made by …….. (name of
    competitor, not name of who is actually paying).

    ►IMPORTANT!!!

    The composer’s name and any other identifying information must be removed from
    the PDF files. Scores with visible names will be rejected. Please note that using black
    boxes to block out the name in Apple Preview is not effective, as the information can
    reappear on certain platforms, like Dropbox.
    In order to facilitate the jury's work, the indications on the scores must be in English,
    French, German or Italian.

    ► Members of the jury will be:

    ► The jury will choose a single winner, who will receive a prize of € 1200,00.

    ► In addition to that, the winner will be asked to compose a piece expressly for the musician/s,
    winner/s of the “Premio Musica Contemporanea” (either soloist or group) awarded for the best
    performance of a piece composed after 1950, at the 27th edition of the “Luigi Nono International
    Chamber Music Competition”, taking place from 18th through October 20th 2024.

    ► The commissioned piece will be premiered by the winner/s of the “Premio Musica
    Contemporanea" in a concert within the 2025 musical season, organized by APS "Amici per la
    Musica”. The composer will be invited to attend the premiere, but the presence is not mandatory.
    Unfortunately APS “Amici per la Musica” cannot support any travel costs.

    ► The name of the winner will be posted on the Facebook page and on the website of APS
    “Amici per la Musica” (www.amiciperlamusica.com) within the beginning of the “Luigi Nono
    International Chamber Music Competition (October 18th, 2024)”.
    The results will be also announced during the awarding ceremony of the above-mentioned
    competition, Sunday, October 20th 2024. The winner will be informed by e-mail, as well.
