Summary of Generative AI Concepts!

Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence technology capable of producing various types of

content, including text, imagery, audio, and synthetic data. It is a branch of AI, which is a field of
computer science focused on creating intelligent agents that can reason, learn, and act autonomously.

Key Concepts in AI and Machine Learning:

 AI: Involves creating machines that can think and act like humans.
 Machine Learning (ML): A subfield of AI where systems learn from data to make predictions
without explicit programming.
 Supervised ML: Uses labeled data to predict future values.
 Unsupervised ML: Focuses on discovering patterns in unlabeled data.
 Semi-Supervised Learning: Combines a small amount of labeled data with a large amount of
unlabeled data to improve learning.

Deep Learning and Neural Networks:

 Deep Learning: A subset of ML that uses artificial neural networks to process complex
patterns.
 Neural Networks: Inspired by the human brain, consisting of interconnected nodes (neurons)
that process data and make predictions.

Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs):

 Generative AI: Uses neural networks to generate new content based on learned data.
 LLMs: A subset of deep learning that generates natural language text, images, audio, or
decisions from input data.

Generative vs. Discriminative Models:

 Discriminative Models: Classify or predict labels for data points.
 Generative Models: Generate new data instances based on the learned probability distribution
of existing data.

Applications and Examples:

 Text-to-Text Models: Translate languages or generate responses.
 Text-to-Image Models: Create images from text descriptions.
 Text-to-Video and Text-to-3D Models: Generate videos or 3D objects from text input.
 Text-to-Task Models: Perform specific tasks like answering questions or making predictions.

Advanced Concepts:
 Transformers: Revolutionized natural language processing in 2018, using encoder-decoder
architecture.
 Hallucinations: Incorrect or nonsensical outputs from models, often due to insufficient
training data or context.

Prominent Tools and Models:

 Vertex AI Studio: Helps explore and customize generative AI models.
 Vertex AI: Allows building generative AI applications with little or no coding.
 PaLM API: Provides tools for experimenting with large language models.
 Gemini: A multimodal AI model capable of analyzing text, images, audio, and code.

Important Points to Remember:

 Generative AI: Produces new content based on learned data patterns.
 Supervised vs. Unsupervised Learning: Labeled data for prediction vs. discovering patterns in
unlabeled data.
 Neural Networks: Key to deep learning, modeled after the human brain.
 Generative vs. Discriminative Models: Creating new data vs. classifying existing data.
 Transformers: Core of modern NLP, with issues like hallucinations.
 Tools and Applications: Vertex AI, PaLM API, and Gemini for developing and deploying
generative AI models.
