    Work Method Statement ROAD CUTTING

    1.0 Introduction The main purpose of this method statement is to describe the methods and steps,
    which shall be used in general to carry out the road cutting works for
    1.1 Sequence of works 1. The contractor shall prepare sufficient sand, crusher run, safety measures
    and other necessary equipments before commencement of works.
    2. To minimise the traffic flow problem, cutting works shall be carried out by
    cutting the first half
    side first then
    followed by the
    other side.

    3. Cutting of metalled road based on the mark is done using a mechanically


    driven straight edge road cutter. Water is continuously splashed on the
    cutting blade to reduce its temperature.
    4. A backhoe will have to excavate the cut metalled road carefully. For sand
    bedding, pipe laying and sand filling works, please refer to a separate
    method statement of pipe laying.

    5. After pipe laying, backfilling and compaction of crusher run shall then
    follow. The contractor shall ensure the thickness of crusher run is
    appropriate after fully compacted.

    6. Reinstatement of premix is the final step and it shall be done accordingly


    to ensure the aesthetic of the road.
