SPEAKING TEST

UNIT 1:
Think of a moment in your life when you made a mistake but learned something from the
experience. (Hãy nghĩ về một khoảnh khắc trong đời khi bạn mắc sai lầm nhưng đã học được
điều gì đó từ trải nghiệm đó.)

 What mistake did you make?

 How old were you?
 What were you doing ?
 What happened in the end ?
 What did you learn ?

One mistake I made in my life was always procrastinating in studying and being
obsessed with making money without focusing on studying, so that exam score was not as
expected.

I had final exams, and instead of spending time studying, I chose to hang out with
friends and watch movies. I think I can review quickly the night before the exam and still do
well. However, when I sat down to study, I realized the amount of information I had to
absorb was too much and I couldn't remember much of the information in class. As a result,
when the exam day came, I did not prepare well and struggled to answer many questions. I
felt disappointed in myself and knew that I had let laziness get to me.

I ended up receiving a below average score on the test, which affected my overall grade
that semester. That was a wake-up call for me. I realized that I couldn't just rely on last-
minute cramming and needed to adopt better study habits.

From this experience, I learned the importance of consistent and organized learning. I
understand that it is important to allocate enough time to grasp and remember information
instead of relying on shortcuts. I also recognize the value of discipline and setting priorities.
This mistake taught me to take my academic responsibilities seriously and not underestimate
the effort required to succeed.

Since then, I have developed better study habits, such as making a study schedule,
dividing topics into manageable parts, and seeking help when needed. This mistake was a
valuable lesson, reminding me that preparation and dedication are the keys to achieving my
goals.

Describe a story or novel you have read that you found interesting. You should say (Mô tả
một câu chuyện hoặc cuốn tiểu thuyết bạn đã đọc mà bạn thấy thú vị. Bạn nên nói)

• When you read it

• What the story or novel was about
• Who wrote it
• And explain why it was interesting
I would like to talk about my favorite classic novel called The Godfather,
which is written by a well-known Italian author, Mario Puzo. I came across this
novel when I was trying to find a dictionary at a bookstore. It was published
in hard-cover version and there was a colourful illustration on the front which
caught my eye.
At first, although I was not much impressed by the novel’s preview, I still
bought it and started to read the story right after getting home. Surprisingly, the
more I read “The Godfather”, the more it appealed to me. This novel told the
story of an Italian imaginary character named Vito Corleone, who was a mafia
boss in America after World War I. What attracted me in this story was the way
the author described Vito’s tricks to survive in a chaotic society. Thanks to this
novel, I learned a lot about the course of American history in that lawless
period.
After finishing this book, I read some more novels by Mario Puzo and they
were all fascinating. I realize that reading books is a good way to
gain knowledge; therefore, everyone should get into the habit of reading.

overwhelmed with compliments from everyone.

The entire AO DAI is light pink, ideal for weddings. I should also say
that the pink color suits my skin very well and it helps to enhance my
complexion.

Getting dressed took quite a while and I was actually late for the

I think people who live healthy lives always have one thing in common:
they find a way to balance work and life, between exercise and diet.

Even if you are too busy, try to exercise or entertain yourself. You don't
need to go to the gym and spend 2 hours doing physical activity. Perhaps just
taking a break from work and doing some stretching exercises is enough to keep
you fit and healthy. Nowadays, more and more people have a sedentary
lifestyle, so we always have to remind ourselves not to sit too much.

Diet is also very important. I know food can be tempting but try to eat
healthy food, food that you know is hygienic and prepared with care. Of course,
every once in a while, we can treat ourselves to a small treat, like the cheese
pizza I had yesterday.
Drink plenty of water because water makes up 60% of the human body

Describe how social media affect your lifestyle. You should say

(Mô tả phương tiện truyền thông xã hội ảnh hưởng đến lối sống của bạn như thế
nào. Bạn nên nói)

• What kind of social media has affected your lifestyle

• Whether it has a positive or negative influence
• And explain why you think so

Social media has penetrated deeply into people's lives and is said to be
replacing our face-to-face interactions. This situation, although beneficial in
some respects, is generally detrimental to real human communication in the
long run.

On the one hand, there are several benefits from using social networks to
communicate. First, they facilitate communication in modern times because
people can now connect globally with old friends and relatives or with others
who share common interests.

On the other hand, the disadvantages of social networks replacing face-to-

face interaction are much more worrying. As these sites become increasingly
dominant and attract large numbers of new users every day, people can become
victims of abusive online communication practices, such as online bullying and
harassment. gland. In fact, social networking sites can become a toxic
environment where users can be verbally attacked for . Furthermore, the
overuse of social media for communication can cause people to underestimate
the importance of face-to-face interaction in which real human relationships
develop. Nowadays, many young and reclusive users prefer to live in the virtual
world on social networking sites rather than engage in real-life relationships.
This can cause serious mental effects, such as increased stress, anxiety and
loneliness.

In short, the disadvantages of social media replacing face-to-face interaction

are more significant than the benefits users can gain from such sites.

fun name her friends often call her).

I moved to a new job position that was very strange to me. Shin was
discussing some issues with the other members when I first met her. Since Shin
was an excellent communicator and possessed all the leadership qualities, she
was appointed team leader. I feel it was the right decision because she is very
knowledgeable about the position she is working in and can help people do
better. She meets and greets people humbly and asks for their opinion on every
decision. She never hesitates to help others.

society respects her. She is highly appreciated and respected by her colleagues.

• I would like to talk about my recent trip to Ba Den pagoda, which was an
experience that I always remember due to the massive amount of visitors that
I encountered while I was there.

• So usually, during Tet holiday, my family often drives to Tay Ninh province to
visit my grandfather and last year we decided to take a short trip to Ba Den
pagoda on Ba Den Mountain.

• Before getting on the cable car to go up to the pagoda, I thought that maybe
there might be a lot of Buddhist worshippers up there, as this sacred place
tends to attract countless visitors all year round, let alone during Tet, which is
the biggest holiday in Vietnam. And, I was right. There were people with
flowers and candles everywhere. On one corner, lines of people were trying to
light their incense sticks, and inside the pagoda many people
were kneeling and praying with their eyes closed. It was pretty hard for us to
even find any room to stand.

• But, in the end, we successfully managed to find a way through the crowd and
got close to the worshipping place, however my grandfather stayed outside as
he can’t stand all the smoke and lack of oxygen.

• Although I understand that most Vietnamese people enjoy going to pagodas

and temples during these special days of the year to wish for good luck, and
well-being and happiness, I really don’t think I’ll do that again anytime soon.
