Summary on Titanic (1997)

The movie based on the true ship of Titanic which was sunken in 1912 was
remade into this sad, romantic, love story between two lovers. Starring Leonardo
DeCaprio (Jack Dawson) and Kate Winslet (Rose Dewitt Bukater) the ship is a man
made marvel and thought that it will never sunk even though it will be hit by any sort of
obstacle. The story started with an exploration by treasure hunter, Brock Lovett and his
crew searching for the ultimate treasure in the ocean, the heart of the ocean. Their
search was a total disaster. The treasure was not found, but there was a clue to where
the necklace would be.
A sketch of a young woman, Rose Dewitt Bukater naked, only wearing the
necklace. The picture was then shown by the media and finally a woman aged 101
called Brock to inform him that she is the woman in the picture. At first Brock did not
believe in what she said, but after awhile he was convinced because all the clues led
only to her. The next day, the old lady was brought on board the treasure hunter's ship.
They showed her digital images on how they predicted the ship sunk and even returned
to her all of her belongings which was found deep under the sea. t was almost like a
bedtime story when she started talking about her experience on the legendary ship. The
intro of the flashback showed a young gambler, Jack Dawson and his friend winning
their way to board the Titanic.
As they have unpacked, Jack Dawson went alone to explore the ship with a
pencil and sketching pad. Then he met up with Rose Dewitt Bukater. t was love at first
sight for Jack. His friend reminded him that he is on the 3
rd
class while the girl is in the
1
st
class. The gap in between shows how far their differences are. One day, Rose tried
to go overboard but Jack was there to stop her from doing such a silly thing. Jack was
repaid by being invited to a dinner party with the rich. Jack, as a simpleton doesn't have
the proper attire to attend and that is when one of the rich woman gave him a tuxedo
which actually belonged to her son. After that party, Jack brought her to the 3
rd
class to
show her how a real party looks like. Rose's fianc forbids Jack from seeing her
because he is a disgrace and he is not worthy for someone like Rose.
The final moment of Titanic, Rose met Jack as him to sketch a picture of her
wearing nothing but the necklace. The sketch was left in her room for Cal to find.
Furious, Cal has his bodyguard to slip the necklace in Jack's pocket and frame him for
stealing. Jack was later handcuffed to a pipe in the Master-at-Arm's office. Later then,
Rose freed him by cutting the cuff with an axe.
Jack and Rose struggle back to the deck where Cal and Jack persuade her to
board another lifeboat, Cal claiming that he has made an arrangement that will allow
both men to get off safely. After she boards, Cal tells Jack that the arrangement is only
for himself. As Rose's boat lowers, she realizes that she cannot leave Jack, and jumps
back on board the Titanic to reunite with him. nfuriated, Cal takes a pistol and chases
them into the flooding first-class dining saloon. After running out of ammunition, Cal
realizes to his chagrin that he gave his coat with the diamond to Rose. With the situation
now dire, he returns to the boat deck and boards a lifeboat by pretending to look after a
lost child.
As Jack and Rose return to the top deck, all lifeboats have departed and
passengers are falling to their deaths as the stern rises out of the water. The ship
breaks in half, and the stern side rises a full 90-degrees into the air. As it sinks slowly
and completely, Jack and Rose ride the stern into the ocean. Jack helps Rose onto a
nearby wall panel that will only support one person's weight. As he hangs onto the
panel, he assures her she will not die there and will instead die an old woman, warm in
her bed. Meanwhile, Fifth Officer Harold Lowe has commandeered a lifeboat to return
and search for survivors. He manages to save Rose, but Jack dies from hypothermia.
