a)

1. Highest Average: Region 4 has the highest average number of complaints with an

average of 4.20.

2. Largest Standard Deviation: Region 1 has the largest standard deviation of

complaints with a standard deviation of 1.20.

3. Expectation of Difference: Yes, we can expect the average number of complaints

across the four regions to be different. This is because the mean values vary

significantly, ranging from 1.00 to 4.20, indicating a disparity in complaint

frequencies among the regions. The variation in means suggests that the regions are

likely experiencing different levels of issues leading to complaints (Jones & et al.,

2023; Stoker, Tian & Kim, 2020).

b) H 0 : μ1=μ2=μ 3=μ4 = The average number of complaints is the same across all four

regions.
H 1 : μ i ≠ μ j = The average number of complaints is not the same across all four regions. At

least one region has a different average number of complaints.

where i ≠ j and i, j ∈ {1,2,3,4}.

c) Based on the ANOVA table above:

1. F-statistics and p-value:

o The F-statistic is 10.486, which measures the ratio of the variance between

the groups to the variance within the groups.

o The p-value is less than .001, indicating the probability of observing the data

if the null hypothesis were true.

2. Conclusion for Hypotheses:

o Since the p-value is less than .001, it is much lower than the common alpha

levels of 0.05 or 0.01, which suggests that the results are statistically

significant.

o Therefore, we reject the null hypothesis (H0) that the average number of

complaints is the same across all four regions.

o We accept the alternative hypothesis (H1) that there is a significant

difference in the average number of complaints across the four regions.

This analysis indicates that the variation in complaints among the regions is not due to random

chance, and there are indeed differences in the average number of complaints that warrant further

investigation (Jones & et al., 2023; Stoker, Tian & Kim, 2020).
