DEFINITION OF CLOUD COMPUTING
• Cloud computing is a model for delivering and accessing computing
services over the internet, rather than relying on local hardware or
infrastructure. In essence, it involves renting or using resources such as
servers, storage, databases, networking, software, Computer system
resources, especially data storage and computing power, are available
on-demand, without direct management by the user in cloud computing.
ARCHITECTURE OF CLOUD COMPUTING
BENEFITS OF CLOUD COMPUTING
• Compared to traditional on-premises IT that involves a company owning and
maintaining physical data centers and servers to access computing power, data
storage and other resources (and depending on the cloud services you select), cloud
computing offers many benefits, including the following:
• Cost-effectiveness: Cloud computing lets you offload some or all of the expense
and effort of purchasing, installing, configuring and managing. You pay only for
cloud-based infrastructure and other computing resources as you use them.
• Increased speed and agility: With cloud computing, your organization can use
enterprise applications in minutes instead of waiting weeks or months for IT to
respond to a request, purchase and configure supporting hardware and install
software.
APPLICATIONS OF CLOUD COMPUTING
APPLICATIONS OF CLOUD COMPUTING
• Art Applications: Cloud computing offers various art applications for
quickly and easily design attractive cards, booklets, and images. Ex:
Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Business Applications: Business applications are based on cloud
service providers. Today, every organization requires the cloud business
application to grow their business. Ex: Chatter, PayPal.
• Data Storage and Backup Applications: Cloud computing allows us to
store information (data, files, images, audios, and videos) on the cloud
and access this information using an internet connection. Ex: Box.com
APPLICATIONS OF CLOUD COMPUTING
• Education Applications: Cloud computing in the education sector
becomes very popular. It offers various online distance learning
platforms and student information portals to the students. The
advantage of using cloud in the field of education is that it offers strong
virtual classroom environments, secure data storage, greater reach for
the students, and minimal hardware requirements for the applications.
Ex: Chrome books for Education.
• Entertainment Applications: Cloud computing offers various
entertainment applications such as online games and video
conferencing. Ex: Online games.
APPLICATIONS OF CLOUD COMPUTING
• Management Applications: Cloud computing offers various cloud
management tools which help admins to manage all types of cloud
activities, such as resource deployment, data integration, and disaster
recovery. Ex: Toggle.
• Social Applications: Social cloud applications allow a large number of
users to connect with each other using social networking applications
such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
(BASED ON DEPLOYMENT)

• The main three types of cloud computing are public cloud, private cloud,
and hybrid cloud.
• Public cloud: Public clouds deliver resources, such as compute, storage, network,
develop-and-deploy environments, and applications over the internet. They are
owned and run by third-party cloud service providers like Google Cloud.
TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
(BASED ON DEPLOYMENT)

• Private cloud: Private clouds are built, run, and used by a single organization,
typically located on-premises. They provide greater control, customization, and
data security but come with similar costs and resource limitations associated
with traditional IT environments.
TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
(BASED ON DEPLOYMENT)

• Hybrid cloud: Environments that mix at least one private computing environment
(traditional IT infrastructure or private cloud, including edge) with one or more
public clouds are called hybrid clouds. They allow you to leverage the resources
and services from different computing environments and choose which is the most
optimal for the workloads.
TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
(BASED ON SERVICES)

• Types of cloud computing based on services: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.

• IaaS: Infrastructure as a Service delivers on-demand infrastructure resources, such as
compute, storage, networking, and virtualization. With IaaS, the service provider owns
and operates the infrastructure, but customers will need to purchase and manage
software, such as operating systems, middleware, data, and applications.

• PaaS: Platform as a Service (PaaS)PaaS delivers and manages hardware and

software resources for developing, testing, delivering, and managing cloud
applications. Providers typically offer middleware, development tools, and cloud
databases within their PaaS offerings.
TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
(BASED ON SERVICES)

• SaaS: Software as a Service (SaaS)SaaS provides a full application

stack as a service that customers can access and use. SaaS solutions often
come as ready-to-use applications, which are managed and maintained
by the cloud service provider.
